I'll definitely get Google Maps for my iPad.

Mostly, I'll probably use Apple Maps for most of my mapping needs (as I do on the iPhone), but it's good to have a backup.

Apple needs to have a desktop/browser version.

The problem is the original poster I quoted had nothing to contribute but a very arguable claim of "Google FTW". I have nothing against Google, and use Google Maps almost daily, but that post is simply absurd, and is out of context.

My point was that google introduced an amazing feature which is great and amazing vs. the competition.

which is why GOOGLE FTW. You sound like you're too sensitive to my pro google comment here.

Why do you use a sub=par mapping solution?

It's hard to imagine how Apple can catch up to Google Maps anytime soon. I hope they wise up in iOS7 and allow users to make Google Maps the default.

I hope Apple holds on to the "we don't follow, but lead" attitude and takes maps in a different, fresh direction, but Google has indeed unleashed a significant improvement to the maps experience that will be extremely hard to match. Apple does indeed have their work cut out for them.

The fact that you've been a sucker for Samsung products removes all possible credibility that you could've had. :)

i love where google is going with its flat design, iOS shows more and more its age. you can tell iOS was intended for a 3.5 device and hasnt been changed much since. and i say this as an owner of an iPhone and iPad

I need my maps to tell me how to get from A to B, never have an issue with Apple maps doing that.

I hate the current flat design trend. Can't want until it's over...

I just don't see it

It looks pretty and it's a map. They both get me to my destination and it's split on who does it better. I get there and I get home and don't get lost. What more do you need? So I don't see the "apple maps just lost!" comments. If you want to tell me that it's so much better and I'm an iSheep go ahead. I just think that going insane for a Map is a bit much. I wish I could learn to read a real map and not rely on the internet for everything and have a real sense of where I am.

The quality of the video is dependent upon the speed of your internet connection. And I guess millions of people must not know what you know and are stupid for having Netflix. They aren't just a streaming service either... you can... you know... rent DVDs and Blu-ray and such.

Anyway... just requested an invite as well. The vid is pretty cool... looking forward to the new features. Powerful simplicity is a lovely thing.

I don't understand why you're acting so defensive with a slightly angry tone? I never said anyone was stupid for having Netflix, those were your words. My internet connection is very fast and I pay for it so I can have HD streaming which works very well. The quality of Netflix isn't of Blu-Ray or much in the way of 1080p quality.

Competition is good. Game on, Apple.

I figured out why people hate Apple Maps. When I open a map, I already know where I am going, I just need directions. I never open a map and say I am hungry, where to eat...

I just signed up to get early access to it! Awaiting confirmation email......

This is a really cool upgrade to Google Maps, I can't wait to see it on mobile.

Google said they are sending out the first set of invites tomorrow morning. So don't expect to see it today.:)

Wow, astonishing. Google maps as we know it is already so much better than Apple Maps that this new version must be embarrassing for Apple's maps team. Look that google street view integration, it is beautifully integrated, a master piece. A map user wet dream.

Google just raised the bar so high, it is impossible for any competition to catch up. Apple being the underdog in maps it is, will NEVER get nowhere near it. Same thing with the ridiculous Siri.

Can't understand how blind ppl are defending apple maps over g maps... In my head it is like "god damn these poor souls ever used a map in their lives?"

Although I would love an innovative, working Apple maps version, I have yet to use it consistently on my iPhone. Why? Because it just doesn't work well. Period. I have both Apple and Google maps apps on my iPhone and the only reason why I would use the Apple app is because it uses my contacts which have the addresses loaded. Otherwise, Google maps has proven to me more accurate and less mistake prone.

There's no doubt Apple is working very hard to make their app excellent and their company self sustaining, but it's a steep path to climb considering Google has the market cornered more or less. Remember MapQuest? haha. Good times.

I guess I don't get what is so amazing about it? Isn't Google maps about 10 years old and Apple's not even one?

Seems like it would be better to bring back Google Maps as the default map application and scrap Apple Maps. I've submitted errors and issues but they still remain after months. While they might have the resources, it seems like it would be better to use those resources on something else and just renegotiate a deal with Google for the maps application.

Well, in order to get to B maps app should know where the point B is in a first place. Google Maps knows way more points B than Apple Maps.
