I used iPhones for about 10 years and have used pixels for the last 5 years. They're both great phones. It really just depends on your preferences for the software/services on each. I originally switched because I just wanted a different experience after being on the same phone for a decade, and haven't yet switched back, but I'm sure I will at some point.

Just enjoy whatever phone/computer/shoes/x you like. I got tired of the brand wars well before the "I'm a Mac/I'm a PC" campaign ended.

I saw this rubbish in my feed and it reminded me to unsub from the Google channel. I was subbed for the Google WiFi Pro stuff, need to buy one of those. But I don’t really go in for these belittling videos, even when Apple did it. Find them boring and tiresome and petty to be honest.

Here's the thing, I would at least give credit where credit is due on these and call them funny, but they're not funny. And they make a major error in marketing, which is that they're talking mostly about the competitor's phone and how lame it is and not about the Pixel.

In fact, if I was just walking by the TV while one of these was on in a bar or something, I wouldn't even register it as specifically a Pixel ad because none of these Android phones really have a visual identity or design language. They're just cheap plastic disposable spyware that won't work anymore in 2 years.

So yeah, maybe the iPhone is on number 14 and only updates iteratively every year. If people cared about that, the competition would have more confidence in their own output and shut up about the iPhone in their ads. What a waste of budget for marketing, seriously.

The iPhone is getting pretty old school and boring, no folding, lackluster battery life unless you have a Max, lightning (yuck, 2nd worst connector ever) Not great wifi hotspot. Yeah, I know, harsh, but it's been a bad day.

My iPhone 14 Pro is already down more than half in charge and it's just after lunch, and I *really* want a flip style iPhone, and not a huge one at that. While they're at it, STOP putting such a smooth outer skin on it, it's hard to hold without putting on a third party case. Smooth glass, really? -- accident waiting to happen. It might look good without a case, but I can't carry it that way.

I haven't even concerned myself with my Samsung Flip 4's battery, yes, a flip phone has a better battery than my 14 Pro. Its hotspot is just as bad as the iPhone's, but android used to be a lot better at that.

Seriously--I think this is why these ring so hollow for me. This is like 2010 garbage back when people used to love fighting over what phone was better. It was boring back then and it's outright dumb now.

Samsung users are power users of Android. OneUI has heavy customisation which is something Pixel lacks so its highly unlikely Samsung owners would go for Pixel. The ad is correct in that only an iPhone user has the potential to like a Pixel because of its simplicity.
I think only someone that currently owns no phone has the potential to like a Pixel… and there’s millions every day buying their FIRST phone, so it’s not a bad market to go for.

It was funny, but seriously, astrophotography? I am not going out in the middle of the night to capture those kind of photos and of course you do it once for bragging rights and the novelty wares off. I have an iPhone X that's at 78% battery health, didn't charge it throughout the day and got a message from a friend to meet up with after work around 5:30 PM. They gave me the address and I was using Google Maps for directions. When I transferred to a different bus stop, my battery was down to 10% then I switched to low battery mode. By the time I got on the bus and reached downtown, I was at 4%. I still needed to use Google Maps to find the location, which brought me down to 2%. We met up, put my phone aside, enjoyed the rest of the evening, walked back to the train, got home by 8:30 PM. Forgot to put my phone on the charger, after showering and heading to bed around 9 PM, I looked at my phone and realized it still had 1% of life left. For a 7 year old phone that is mighty impressive!

The VPN stuff, you have 5G, who really is connecting to public networks that often. Even my LTE data plan is sufficient for what I need. I connect to Wi-Fi at public places: kareoke, airports, friends house, work and all my money is still in my bank account. My co worker who bought the Galaxy Fold 3 is planning on going back to a single screen Android because they said they rarely using the fold out screen.

Google, you are desperate on this, but it was funny.

iPhone hardware has plateaued. The big hurdles are leaving the Apple ecosystem and blue bubbles. I have a preorder in for the Pixel Fold after having most iPhones since the 3G because I want a shiny new device in my hand.

And it’s not like the Pixel is crap, totally. Unless Google THINKS it’s crap. In that case, what they’re saying is, “At least it’s not an iPhone!”

Just when I was feeling gloom about no iOS17b2 today, the comic relief shows up with a few videos.

I wouldn’t buy Google if it came down to the Pixel, or two cans with a string. But keep on keeping on, Google.
