That’s unbelievable, and if true they deserve the back lash and everything else. But we’ll see.

Let’s not forget Bloomberg still haven’t corrected or plain redacted their story last year about Apple’s servers containing spy hardware/software. A story that was pretty much refuted everywhere else. So consider the source in this case. I like Bloomberg but their technology focused reporting isn’t the best.

Great post. Bloomberg has lost a lot of credibility with me and others, partially because of what you mentioned, but I don’t think their predictions are very accurate either.

That is awesome, what made you switch?

I liked the design of the iPhone X even with the uni-brow notch at the top. Also one of my biggest gripes about iOS vs Android was the the notifications on Android was a lot better but with iOS 12 Apple made some improvements. It's still not as fluid as Android but close enough. I bought an X the day after the XS was announced slightly used on eBay and with AppleCare.

I figured I'd probably get the S1O when it came out a few months later, but decided to pass and for now I'll stick with the iPhone.

That makes a lot of sense, you must have got a great deal on the X considering your timing around the purchase .

I was looking at my mother’s iPhone X, and thought to myself that besides the size, these phones don’t feel like they differ much. I feel like I am going to have my XS Max for quite a long time, maybe until the next redesign. I don’t thing the XI will be much different, but I could be wrong.

I would expect the XI to be an incremental improvement similar to the s9 and s10. IOS smooths the experience on the iphone between hardware versions. However there are some minor differences between the x and xs.

- stereo recording
- smart/video auto hdr
- dual sim
- of course 2nd gen neural engine on the a12
- gigabit lte
- camera
- better portrait mode
- ip68 (this is mostly marketing, imo)

Plus other stuff.

Incremental improvements. Noteworthy, but incremental.

Got my new toy and so far so good. The transition from Android is not too bad as I already had an iPad Air 2 that had a lot of apps that I used on my Androids to.

Will see if I stick around longer than 6 months, but so far so good.

Nice! I hope you enjoy your new iPhone.

I’ve always loved the iPhone XS MAX. I personally don’t own one, but have seen it in the store and thought it was really great. The extra screen real estate is nice but it also would feel good just to show it off to friends who are curious and say “is that the new MAX iPhone?” haha. I currently use an iPhone X.

Hahaha! Yeah, I should actually use that line “MAX iPhone” , I’ve just been saying XS, lol

Hmmm... Had a random freeze today had to do a force restart, I hope this is not a sign of things to come?

I am on 12.3.1 ,maybe it’s buggy?
I’ve had this happen to me a few times over the past few months. Worst time was when I was getting off the tube and I wanted to use my phone to pay to get out. I was able to use my watch luckily.

Oh my word! That is awful, thank goodness you had the watch.

Hope they sort this out, it really made no sense, but now I realize that the phone was being odd leading up to the freeze, it crashed Twitter earlier, then when I got to my Dr. appointment in the waiting room the phone got a bit weird, it was not being responsive at times, then suddenly after getting to work it froze completely and required a forced restart. After the restart it’s back to being fast, fluid and responsive.

Hopefully it does not happen again.

Well well well, the battery life on my iPhone has seen a tremendous jump

It is absolutely sipping power despite me using Slack, WhatsApp, Spark Mail and Instagram pretty heavily. 1pm at work and I am sitting at 83%, which is closer to what I was getting in the P30 Pro.

Very happy with the battery right now.

I've owned several iPhones, and decided to try out the Galaxy S10e about 3 months ago.

I just came back to an iPhone XS after a TON of app crashes, phone restarts, loss of BT/cellular connectivity, and so on. I really liked the form factor of the phone, but reliability is a BIG deal for me, and out of the phones I've owned (iPhone 4/5/6/8/XS), I've only ever had one actual physical issue (broke speaker - Apple replaced it and gave me credit towards something in the Apple Store) and the VERY occasional app crash.

About 3 weeks into owning my iPhone XS Max and I am very happy, Battery Life is now at a point where it’s comparable to my Huawei P30 Pro, I got home with about 66% Battery today, and the phone in general seems to have settled.

I am absolutely loving the ecosystem experience, doing one thing on my iPhone only to pick up right where I left off on my iPad is seriously amazing, the speed, fluidity and consistency of the experience is also great, although speed is not that different to Android, more the smoothness and consistency is a lot more significant of a change as the phone is not just consistent but the whole ecosystem, it’s a little insane and pretty addictive.

One of my main issues with iOS was File System but the Files app now that it is hooked on to both my Google Drive, MS OneDrive along with iCloud Drive, it’s a great experience, also still being able to save email attachments for example in particular folders in my iPhone and access them from other apps is great and EXACTLY what I wanted.

Overall, I am very happy, it’s a great move and I no longer have doubts in actual fact I may be permanently an iPhone user now and simply do reviews of Androids that are given to me for trial purposes but my daily driver is going to be an iPhone from here on out.

With the above said I will still appreciate what Android allows OEMs to do, I am trying to get a friend of mine to upgrade his OnePlus 3T to a 7 Pro, he was in New York last night but was not allowed to buy without an account. I think he was at T-Mobile, he already had the cash for the phone but nah, but in hindsight a US OP7 Pro may not have the necessary bands to work in South Africa so he will have to buy the phone in the UAE in a few weeks as they use the same bands there. Cannot wait to give that beast a go, however I simply do not have any envy for any thing Android right now. I feel as though I had the best that there was with the P30 Pro and it’s insane Hardware, and now with the XS Max I have this beautiful mix of great hardware and amazing software.

I still do find Apple playing catch-up hilarious but glad iOS 13 is bringing some awesome features, and the best part being I will get the update the same time on both my iPhone XS Max and my 3 year old iPad Air 2 no waiting around for updates after they are released.

Glad you're enjoying your Max. I was a die-hard android guy until the iPhone 6s that my g/f, now wife persuaded me to get. After a few go rounds, I found the Plus versions and now the Max to be the perfect size for my needs. I'd have to say with each new IOS version the user experience keeps getting better. I've played with various Android phones and really like a few of them hardware wise, but I'm happier with the Apple ecosystem and how my iPhone performs. I can't see myself going back to Android any time soon.

I got the XS Max a while back after being an Android phone guy since day one introduction (I do have an iPad Pro and an Android tablet). I really like this phone and can't see going back to Android.

What case is that??

Hi Jagolden,

Thank you so much. Yes, fully agree with your comments, although battery life is not quite at Huawei P30 Pro levels it seems to be still be good.

Absolutely agree on size and weight, I have always liked big and heavy phones, and the X S Max really has an awesome feel to it, it’s size is JUST right for me, not too large yet not too small, I love that it sits wider than the Androids I am coming from and has a flatter display which means more room for my thumbs when typing.

I am also loving the way iOS seems to be a lot more well integrated with some apps. UI wise the X S Max is fast and smooth just like my Androids, but the smoothness is on another level as well as the consistency of it, Apple did a great job here.

In terms of cases, thank you so much will give those a look!
I just took delivery of my first case today, but I tend to have more than 1 so I’ll have a look at the ones you suggested.

This is a decent case I got from a local supplier, but I am also looking at Incipio and Moshi.

How do you like your tablet? Which tablet do you have?

The Android tablet is an 8" Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 - an Android version of the Mini. It works very well but is no longer getting OS updates, just security updates (I don't actually care as there aren't any functional changes I care about). It doesn't see much use as I now pick up the iPP or the XS Max instead but I do use it off and on, mainly as a Kindle reader.

It is a great choice, cause the new iPhone XI MAX will only update the cameras, the inner component wont make anything different!

Surely the A13 Bionic will be quite a bit more powerful than the A12, although it will probably remain a 7nm chip like the A12.

5nm chips seem to only be coming next year.

Edit: Just saw your post above (Baseous)

Would you happen to have a name for the case in these pics? Looks great.
