Got my iFrogz Luxe today! (high quality pics)...first impression

We have two of these and from my experience they are hands-down the best hard case. Snug fit, no damage to the phone and great protection. I've had mine for close to a year and removed it the other day to clean the edges. The 3G looked like it just came out of the box new. Plus it really does feel great in the hand without adding much bulk at all.

I stopped by Target today and saw some Incase Sliders there - I just had to pick one up:). I got what I can only assume is matte black (it only says black on the package but I compared it to another black Slider there that was clearly more of a glossy finish). Anyway, I wanted to put it on when I got home but I had to take off my Luxe first. It must have been on really tight because I had a heck of a time getting it off (I see what map1978 was talking about now). Makes me think my Luxe might be defective too because there were definitely some very noticeable gaps where the top and bottom pieces connected. I may have to return my Luxe or exchange it.

I have to admit that the Incase has a really nice feel to it - the matte finish on it makes it very similar to my Innocase but without the annoying cutout for the Apple logo. The cutout for the camera is definitely bigger than the one on the Innocase but that doesn't bother me. Everything else is pretty similar except for the fact that there's no felt on the inside of the case (wonder if I could put some really thin felt in there myself:confused:). I rarely take my case off my phone so I'm hoping that I won't have to worry about scratching the back or the bezel. I'm also wondering if the matte finish of the case will chip or wear off though (lots of reviews on Apple's site mention this problem). Anyone have some personal experience with this? I wonder if the bamboo versions are less susceptible to that kind of wear. No issues with my PS Anti-Glare bubbling either so this case is a winner so far.

how much was it at target?

hope you checked for flash along the sides and next to the rubber rails before you put it on

i've had no problems with the finish peeling away and they seem to be scratch proof the cases :D

It was $34.99 plus tax. I'm sure that's not the best price but there's something to be said for being able to actually examine a product before you shell out for it. There didn't seem to be anything in there that would scratch the phone but it did have that line to the right of the camera hole that was mentioned in the other thread with the Flickr pics. It's weird because you almost want to slide the phone in and out a few times to see if it scratches, but then again you don't want to for obvious reasons. I'm going to read up a bit on the bamboo version as well - it's a bit of a different look and I might want something like that.

The bamboo slider actually smells like bamboo. I tried it at the apple store and still considering buying one as well. The black pepper one looks awesome.

No need to apologize - to each his own:). It's tough finding the perfect case - one that looks good, provides the protection you're looking for, and doesn't scratch the phone. The Luxe is definitely not perfect for me but I do like it so far. Theoretically the Incase Slider may be the perfect case for me but that's only if it doesn't scratch my phone. I don't need a case to scratch my phone - I can do that just fine all by myself:D.

Okay, I take back what I said. I just ordered this case. I guess it had to grow on me.

For anyone who likes a bargain, DealExtreme has the copycats of these for $2.99 shipped. The colors are limited, but the quality of the case is just as good as the Luxe. In fact, my fake has held up better than my coworker's who has the real deal. I'm sure they're all over ebay as well (with more colors), but I haven't come across them.

Do you have any pics of your fake one?

Red. I haven't ordered it yet. I was planning on doing it later on today. I might order the fake ones for $2.99.

I would be careful about ordering from that place. I ordered an external battery for my iphone from them and the thing starting melting and smoking while it was charging. I know this is only a case so there are no worries like that, but you do get what you pay for. The real Luxe cases can be had pretty cheap on ebay and elsewhere, so I would pay the extra money for the real thing. It's obviously up to you though so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Yeah, here's the red..

Not bad for $3. :)

I found them on ebay if anyone's interested. More color choices!

I just got my Luxe and it won't 'click' together. I can easily pull the two pieces apart :(. Has anyone gotten one like this? I got it from ebay.

Do you have a full-body skin like Bodyguardz or Best Skin Ever? I had to take mine off (just the back) before it would fit well enough to snap.

pretty cool....

Just ordered the red fake iribbit as I wait for the blue one from buy.com.
Let's see who gets it to me first. :p But $3 is not a great risk for the red irribit either. Thanks for the link.

Change of plans, I walk in my local Target and the Incase Slider (Black Matte) was on sale for $27.99, I believe. It totaled 30 bucks. I decided to get it. I was planning on going to Best Buy and getting the white Incase Slider (I had this on my 3G iPhone), I had no problems with it. I decided to switch it up and go black on my white 3GS. I love Incase Sliders. I'm still not 100% sure I'll stick with it or order the cheaper Luxe. $30 or $11.99 for the luxe online. I'll decide today. That $18 bucks can go on a car charger for my phone.

I bought it from buy.com on July 2nd, and it just says processing (and it said it would at least ship within 3 days). I'm careful enough with my phone and don't mind saving $36 by waiting, but I really want this case soon! Anyone have experience with buy.com and how long it takes with standard shipping?

buy.com

Have usually had real good luck with shipping at buy.com. But this order does say 2-3 business days for processing and I placed an order around the same time you did.

Was hoping to see that it was done and shipped but not yet. Maybe tomorrow.
So while awaiting a blue, I ordered a red one for $3. Got an email saying they will notify on shipment.

We shall see who wins. Have no idea where buy.com will ship from but it will be interesting which one comes first and from where.

Strangely I wouldn't be surprised if the iRibbit beat the iFrogz from buy.com.

Got my Red/Black Luxe today....i'm not too impressed with the case.

The problem is that i can't get those two pieces to click to together. I can easily pull them apart with like no force what so ever.

I think I'm going back to the Griffin Clarifi, or my Innocase II

So you can't put the case on completely but you have no problem taking it off?

Think I said it in a wrong way.

The case slides very nicely to the phone, but the clippy thing which hooks the two pieces together isn't very hardly in place. A little pull to the other end and the down part is come off.

I don't know if this is supposed to be like this but it seems pretty strange...

Wow - that's slightly different from my experience. I can't seem to get the ring to clip into place either but the case was almost impossible to get off (once I finally managed to get it off, I actually returned it). I'm waiting for the one I ordered from Buy.com to come (they're taking forever to ship it for some reason). I'm hoping that the one I got was just defective or something. Do you have any kind of skins (BSE, IS, etc.) on your phone?

This was my issue too, did you buy it off ebay? I contacted my seller (youlovethisdeal) and they are sending a replacement as well as a prepaid envelope to mail my defective one back.
