Yes, why is this surprising to anyone given that the marketing pics of the rose gold AWS are also pink?

What "freedom of speech"? This isn't a freedom of speech issue.

You can say whatever you want. That doesn't mean you can't or shouldn't or won't face criticism.

That's the issue. Why should someone face criticism for their opinion?

You like pink on your electronics, I don't like pink on my electronics. It doesn't make me a bigot, narrow minded, insecure with my sexuality, etc.

But when you say things like this:

Tell me why no guy in the world has ever put on a pink case on his phone? Cause it doesn't look good and it's feminine.

You ARE narrow minded and showing insecurity.

I'm still curious as to why people think pink is feminine in one application and cool/trendy/not feminine in another.

20 years ago, if a dude wore a pink shirt people would make fun of him and most men would say it was feminine. Now society, pushed by popular culture, says it's ok and guys all over love and embrace pink clothing.

As a society, we are sheep.

It'd be more accurate to say that 20 years ago people were sheep, and now people are owning their right to express themselves and not be pushed down by bigots.

Let me ask you a question. If you're a guy, would you happily rock the following

No. But I wouldn't wear it because I don't like it in that particular application.

A light pink shirt, though? No problem. I have a Brooks Brothers oxford cloth button down in a similar light shade of pink, and it's a great shirt. It's also a very popular and VERY traditional color for an OCBD.

Same here. I can easily wear a pink shirt like that, but I'd be uncomfortable with pink accessories/jewelry in that shade. I'd have no problem with the pink iPhone 5c (which is actually salmon) or even hot pink. Not being comfortable to wear feminine/soft pink doesn't necessarily indicate insecurity.

Not being comfortable to wear feminine/soft pink simply doesn't indicate insecurity.

Perhaps. I might question the need or reason for classifying the color itself as being feminine, though. In and of itself, a color is neutral. There's a distinction to be made between a color and its application.

As for the poster in question, however, I think it's pretty clear by looking at his posting history that he's speaking from a place of insecurity.

I think there are two different things happening.

A. "I don't like it"
B. "I don't like it and if you wear it you [are feminine], [lose your man card], [are gay], etc."

It's perfectly okay to say you don't like a color. That's expressing an opinion. Placing that judgment on someone else by judging them harshly is different. That indicates some level of insecurity and has nothing to do with a personal color preference. I personally think the color is a little too pink and prefer to have more of the gold tone. But if you like pink and are a male or female then all the power to you. Plenty of people are expressing that "opinion" while others need to fast forward to 2015.

This has to be the best thread ever. I look forward to getting notifications every hour.

I like pink shirts. This is going to be a first for me to have a pink phone. However that's where I will draw the line. I won't wear a rose gold watch.

sorry, which comment was whiny?

you're being overly sensitive, as are a few others in this thread. that's the problem with this world today, you can't criticize people or have your own opinion or else you're being negative.

it reminds me of one of the biggest stories of the year.. caitlyn jenner.

don't like transgender people? you're an idiot. piece of ****. have an open mind, etc etc etc.

Of yours? All of them lol. I'm not sensitive, I truly don't care. I just hate stupid comments and I'm trying to make you understand why you sound stupid to me.

Good example with Caitlyn Jenner. So many people posted over and over on every article about her "it's a man, will never be a woman, etc."

That's perfectly fine to have that opinion, but why click on every article you see of her to post your negative opinion and tell everyone else they're wrong.

I'm not forcing an opinion on you. I said it's cool if you think the rose gold is feminine. You, on the other hand, ARE telling me that I'm wrong to think it is not feminine.

See the difference? You probably won't based on how you've acted thus far.

I also encounter thousands of people per day, probably 100,000 a month. Not once have I seen a pink case on a mans phone.

That doesn't mean anything. Personally, I know multiple men--straight and gay--who don't have pink cases on their phones because THEIR ACTUAL PHONES ARE PINK. And those are only the people I know and not just the people who I have merely seen.

Anecdotal evidence is anecdotal.

People like the ones in this topic are the ones bringing down society and making it ******.
I'm curious ... How so? For stating that color shouldn't matter? Is being open to a particular style or outfit really that demoralizing? Or is it that we're not free to disagree?

I think the issue is some people refuse to believe Apple could ever lie or skew the truth. If Apple says its "Rose Gold", its Rose Gold dammit, no matter what. If their eyes see pink, they still refuse to believe Apple could be wrong and make justifications for carrying a pink phone.

I don't recall ever seeing a man carry a pink phone on the NYC subway in the last 20 years, I suspect Apple might be able to start this new trend... just takes a few celebs
