I have the black case/Matt I have taken it on and off about 4 times now and put on my Black ops. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, no marks or scratches. I am going to sell my Black Ops (vapor) case and stay with this case. I love it.

...Some things i've noticed: the latch is not flush (the side that says graft). The metal latch sits a bit taller than the plastic bumper. with the phone not in the case, it does sit flush, but with the phone in the case, it does not.

My latch sits flush. I noticed once when I put the backplate in and it wasn't completely tucked inside the bumper on all sides that the latch did not sit flush as a result, but once I got the backplate secure everything sits as it should. I know you don't have your backplate in, so I'm not sure why yours doesn't sit flush.

I realized all this concern over the case isn't allowing me to use the phone properly!

Screw it. If my white case discolors, I'll get a black one. Or another case altogether.

Yes $60 seems alot. But, eh, its better than the steak you ordered out on a bad date which cost the same.

So I've had the case on for exactly 8 hours today and just got home and was able to inspect the case. I do have chipping and discoloration on the corners already, white version with matte latch. Totally unexceptable for a $60 premium case. I am very disappointed and will be exchanging for a black version. Are people with the black version noticing any chipping?

I got a white/matte finish with white back plate for sale if anyone is interested. I decided to keep the black/chrome one. $50 shipped. PM me if you're interested. I do not have the original box, but condition is 9/10 as i had it on for 3 days.

I notice chipping on the corners of my white one too. It still looks good from a distance, but once you bring it close to your eyes, the chipping is definitely noticeable. White seems to always not be as durable for one reason or another. Remember the white macbooks? =/

Yes the paint or film is chipping, no other way to describe it really. It's even rough to the touch when you slide your finger over it.

Emailed the company shortly after my own findings to see if the issues we ran into on the forums were potential anomalies that fell outside of the manufacturing norm. Turns out the company is aware of metal-on-metal contact.

The response —
"We are aware of an issue, thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have come up with a few solutions to remedy it. We are currently modifying the existing version so that there is no metal on metal contact. For existing users and purchasers of the current version, we will provide a protective adhesive that will prevent the scratching from happening."

Sounds like the remaining stock and future iterations will be fixed while current owners will get, in essence a glorified piece of tape.

We said it before: things cannot stay perfect forever and what we can't see can't hurt us, but do have to say that with the company admitting fault with the product, adhesive sounds a bit half-assed for an "official" solution.

I am not fully upset with the remedy, just would imagine there would have been an exchange option offered if current stock and future cases will be modified. Then again, we have yet to hear how the company is going to offer and facilitate the solution altogether. Guess I expected function to meet form for the $60 premium case.

Just ordered my case today. Hope mine will be the new version. And I am sorry to hear the problem. You're right, I'd expect better research had been done for a 60 bucks case.

Anyone with the black case notice any chipping or peeling of the soft finish? I should finally be getting my white case today if the post office gets their act together and I am thinking of contacting the company and asking about an exchange for a black one because all the bad white case reports I am hearing. If people are noting peeling on the. Lack case too though then forget it. I will just return for a refund and forget this case.

I have the black one and it looks and feels amazing. I did add the piece of tape before installation on the top of the phone. It's only been on my 4S for the last 10 hours or so and no issues to report.

Anyone else have an issues with the 4S camera being washed out with the backplate on?

Maybe they can make a backplate with a larger camera opening similar to the new letterbox cases, maybe a apple logo or cutout too.

Can you be more specific. Maybe post a sample photo.

No chipping on black case, here.....& BTW the chrome latch looks almost sexy with no back plate on with the chrome apple logo exposed!......:D

Are you referring to the soft touch finish flaking off like I am seeing here in the corners of mine (this is happening in all 4 corners of my case):

You can also see how dirty/dingy the case is starting to look. The white that is showing through in the areas where the finish is flaking off is how white the entire case used to look.

My white case is already chipping on all the edges. It has also turned into a pinkish white(?) all around. Also of note is that my car dock connector (pumps audio + song info to stock headunit) will not fit with the case on.

Overall, I would not recommend the white version. Also, people should take into consideration whether their accessories with dock connectors will be able to fit or not.

I've decided I'm gonna go with some other ultra thin case or just a simple Powersupport film. It's really a letdown as I love the look, but function shouldn't follow form.

I'm not sure if I can request a refund at this point.

Too bad most of you who order white is having this issue. Kind off remind me when I had my white apple bumper it only last me 30 days. I'm sure you can either exchange for the black one or refund in the worse cases. In regards to aftermarket dock connectors I always regardless which case I buy I always have to remove my case to plug in the car so I'm use it. To me there's no such thing as a perfect case. I really do like the design of this case and it's a keeper from end. The premium price is a little high but now in this days smartphone cases has gone up unless you buy a cheap quality one from ebay. Kind of you get what you pay!!!!

Normally I rest my cell phone on top my desk and already got client giving me compliments something I never receive from prior cases I've own. Good luck on your decision you make but I'd change it for the black/matte if I were you and you might have a different propective.

I have a black case and have noticed some minor chipping issues as well. I don't think this is subject to black or white because they both probably use the same type of paint but just a different dye. I'm very disappointed to say the least.

What I don't understand is that if the white is chipping, why isnt the black one chipping as well? It's not like they were made of different material(?) just a different shade, right? Shouldn't the black be the same?

Well there you have it. Our "perfect" case is no longer perfect. The search continues...

I was just about to say this. Since there are already a few people with black cases reporting the chipping, it seems the issue is with the way Graft applied the soft touch finish on both colors. With the white Graft, I kind of expected it to get dirty (I've never seen a soft touch white that doesn't...that's why most white cases are glossy), but I've not seen many flake like this. I've got a white soft touch Proof Case Duo that's darn near brown, but it's not flaking at all. It would have been much better in the long run to have made these cases (at least the white one) as a glossy finish. It doesn't bother me that much as I don't have any money tied up in this case, but it would still make it a better product.

Yeah, exactly what I am talking about. I'm just wondering if anyone with the black cases have noticed peeling of the soft coat as well. If so then they're obviously having a problem with getting the soft coating to stick well and need to go back to the drawing board. If no one is noticing their black cases peeling however there must be some difference there that's making the black one work better. I'd go for an exchange if that were the case. Otherwise refund here I come.
