I have a black case and have noticed some minor chipping issues as well. I don't think this is subject to black or white because they both probably use the same type of paint but just a different dye. I'm very disappointed to say the least.

What!!!!! This is insane. I hope the company is reading this issues and hoping for next batch to come with better improvement. Unfortunately for those that having issues they will receive a piece of scotch tape which is a joke to me however I don't have any issues. Hope mine is from recent batch. Crossing my finger!!!!!

I have the black. I don't really care about the little scratch, but if the paint starts to chip then this thing is going back. $60 is way too much to pay for case that has a paint chip problem. Not to mention the white case discoloration problem.

Slide it in and out of your pocket a bunch. Or run your fingernail over the sharp edges of the corners a few times to see if you can get yours to chip. Once it has one chip in an area, any kind of abrasion will continue to pull the soft touch finish off in chips.

Yep exactly and I have seen a lot of other case companies go through the same growing pains in the past as well including some of the big ones like Incipio with their feather series and Incase with their sliders. Hopefully Graft will learn from this and get their painting process right. It would also be really smart of them to make the white available in gloss finish like you mentioned.

Yeah, a gloss finish is really the only way to go with a white case. I dislike how slippery a gloss finish is, but matte/soft touch white isn't going to stay clean. If this case is CNC milled, they could leave it with the natural machining marks left after manufacturing (I know several smaller case companies that do that for their white plastic versions), or they might could do a very low PSI bead-blast to give it a slight texture. But soft touch white is usually a no-no. That's why Incase (a company you mentioned) does a lot of matte/soft-touch Slider cases, but their white is a hard glossy finish.

Something like the SGP smooth white finish that they do with some of their cases would be awesome with this case and the lever. No discoloration and no paint chipping and would not be too slick either.

Really good looking case, and I'm sure they will get it straightened out in the near future, but I just canceled my order since they haven't shipped it yet. Going to find something else until they fix the issues.

Does anyone know if the case will fit wit Spectra Wraps on? I would think that those would take care of any scratching issues but I'm not sure if they fit with this case?

It would definitely work with the Spectra Wrap. The decals are very thin and can fit with any case on market IMHO

Just got my case and it looks great on the phone. I'm just worried about the longevity of the case. The fit and finish is not in person what it looks like on their website. The latch doesn't "snap" into place easily. There is a "2-part" process to the snap. There is a a little pin running through a channel at the top corner of the phone that snaps into a groove. Then there is a hole at the end of the case where the latch snaps at the bottom. The latch has a dimple that is supposed to seat in that hole. Mine did not line up and so the latch doesn't sit flush. After some serious elbow grease and contorting the case I finally got the dimple and hole to line up and sit more flush. I will probably never take the case of for fear of trying to get it to line up flush again.

My other criticism is the latch itself. It appears to be a plastic latch whereas I assumed it was a metal. The pin at the top corner runs through a plastic channel that I see breaking with enough off and ons of the case. Again, I'll keep on so I don't run the risk of that pin breaking out. In addition, the latch isn't parallel to the phone as it seems to be torqued a bit at an angle. Not a big deal but I'd prefer a clean line that is parallel to the phone.

I would gladly pay $60 for this case thinking the latch was metal. In my opinion, the case is more like a $40 case.

I'm actually not sure what is metal as the majority of it seems to be plastic with a chrome paint/coat. Anybody know what actually is metal versus plastic? I see that chrome chipping and looking horrible in time. If it was true metal and chrome dipped we wouldn't have to worry about that chipping.

Great looking case but I feel I got a "knock-off" of the advertised version.

I'll give it a week to make my mind up.

That video on their website make it look so easy to put on, latch, and sit flush all in one motion. How many takes was that to get the perfect video?

Give it couple of days. I had the same issues as you when I first got it and was very disappointed. The following day it was way easier to open and close the latch. I think the case "stretches" a bit once is on the phone conforming to the shape.

The latch did scuff a bit the antenna band of my iPhone and I agreed that the latch should be more like metal looking. $40 would be more than fair price to pay for it. It's a great looking case though.

I'm so bummed about the problems with the white case. I really, really love how it looks on my phone, but the odds of it STAYING that pretty for more than a week or so is very slim... how unfortunate.

You sure its plastic? If it is, email them. It's stated on their site that its metal.

Luxurious finish on metal latching mechanism that locks the case firmly around the phone

I'm 99% positive. I'll email them and ask what is plastic and what is metal. It's just too light, pliable, and feel to be metal.

I'll post back my reply I get from them.

Change it to black and call it a day.

That's very strange that yours is plastic because mine is metal and matte(not chrome) like yours. I taken out the latch 3 times and it's easier now to put it back on and off. Practice make perfect!

Perhaps the chrome makes it look like plastic? I don't know. My black/chrome is on the way, and if the latch really does feel like plastic I think I'll return it considering that's the main reason I got this case.

Ok guys, super disappointed here. Just got my white case in the mail today. First thing out of the box, there is a blue stain on the front of the frame. Looks like probably someone who was handling the case in packing or inspection had something on their glove like blue pen and got it on there. It is hard to see in my pictures, but trust me it is there. (Even my wife noticed it right away.) And it is on the front of the frame which makes it very obvious. Now for the other part, I took the case out and low and behold there is chipped paint on the back of the frame by one of the corners. I mean really. I thought they were inspecting each of these cases before getting them out.:(

Overall really not happy. Gotta contact their customer service now and see what I can do. Really wanted to like this case too.

With the soft touch finish flaking off, the exact same thing happened with the first batch of Incipio Feather's for the iPhone 4. They managed to fix the manufacturing defect and replace our cases, hopefully Graft can do the same. But incipio are a bigger firm, this kind of thing can take down a small single product line startup. I do hope not, in theory it's the best design I have seen yet. Right now it's massively flawed and I would not buy one until Graft, and customers, can confirm its sorted out.

Yep, I remember that and even mentioned Incipio in another post on this thread. ;) Don't know what Graft may be able to do about this, but it is a definite problem, especially when the case is coming to customers with chips already in it.

You should update your original post stating the problems a lot of people are encountering with the case. I mean, a 20+ page thread with nothing but "oh's" and "ah's" for the first 15 or so pages can be a bit deceiving for someone who doesn't dig through and read. It would probably make Graft take into consideration these issues a bit more as well, as they likely know this thread exists.

I think the latch IS plastic!....It definately don't react to a maginet!....:(

Edit: I too have sent a email about the mark on the phone and the "metal" latch. I will report the results!

A lot of metal will not react to magnets though. Just saying. While there are a lot of issues with this case, I don't think plastic clasps are one of them. That would just be blatantly lying and would kill the company.
