From the 1st series onward, I have always gone with 'graphite steal' but now looking closely at the TiSB?

Anyone make this transition in the last series who regrets the transition?

Graphite didn't exist until Series6. Prior models were Space Black; I had both Series4 and Series5 before buying my SBTi Series6.

The Space Black Titanium is a brushed finish, very similar to the finish on the space black link bracelet. It actually pairs better with the band IMHO than the SBSS did.

I've been very pleased with my choice.

Note - there's no telling what Apple will do with Series7 though, so we'll all have to see.

Hopefully there’s a Titanium this year as I’d like to get my first Apple Watch in this material. However, I’m expecting Ceramic to replacement it which I won’t be purchasing.

Thanks. I used quotation marks both to draw from the thread title and also because I could not remember past my current 6S.

Here are two quick comparison pics, SBSS and SBTi. Notice the brushed finish of the Titanium model🙂

Hoping we see the return of space black for series 7 given the new pro phones are said to be matte black

After some reading in Apple’s documentation, i’m a bit irritated. iAccording to https://support.apple.com/kb/SP826?viewlocale=en_US the SSG does NOT have DLC coating, the SBTi does. However, i cannot find any information about the Hermes SSBS. Is there going to be a Hermes SSBS S7?

I have experienced the advantages of DLC on analog watches before, as well on my S5 SSBS, which is basically in pristine condition despite being used every day in every environment without any case. I won‘t buy a watch without DLC.

I’m digging around trying to plan purchases and also frustrated by Apple’s launch. I’m sure people that I’ll ignore will talk about first world problems, but I have time now. My wife’s S4 is dying and I’m ready to replace mine as well.

I have always had SSSB with DLC and I want that without the artificial S6 requirement of a $500 band that I will not use.

Can you copy and paste the info in the link as it won't load for me.

I'm still yet to see proof the Graphite isn't DLC. I remember when the Series 6 launched that I read in the specs before buying that it was DLC, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

Here it states DLC.

One thing I learned during my ownership of a stainless steel In graphite is to Avoid the Milanese loop combo at all costs, it will scratch it up within a day no matter what you.

It will scratch the sapphire at the bottom also, for some reason the Apple Watch Milanese design is not equal on both sides the top is not tapered but the bottom is, which makes no sense so whenever you take it off or wear it on the steel strap will literally rub against the watch no matter what you do and on the SS watch is very hard to miss.
After a while you learn to hold it against the watch but the casual person doesn’t notice at first 🤔

Applecare + wise also is another thing to consider because they never have the higher end models in exchange for repairs and will always have ship it to get it fixed so take it in consideration 🤣

I have a SBSS Series 5 with SB Milanese loop. I‘ve not been cautious with the Watch and it‘s still mint on every side.
The Milanese loop‘s magnetic latch does have some abrasion on the edges, which is hardly noticeable.

This is what i expect from a durable and long lasting product.

I don't have a Milanese band but my Graphite SS looks brand new a year in, and I wear it all day every day.

I've had both the S0 and S3 SBSS (the S0 was purchased with the SB link band). Both watches were completely flawless (still wearing the S3). This will be the upgrade year.

Not a fan of a brushed look on the SBTi - makes it look like the aluminum watches. Guess I'll be changing this year.

As for the SB link band - it was flawless for years - then I was doing some landscaping work and it's pretty scratched up now :( Should have kept it for dress occasions, but it was just too comfortable, so wore it everyday, for the most part. :)

Likely be grabbing the Graphite due to the finish. (plus, I couldn't care less for the Hermes branding - not paying extra for a label).

It looks amazing up close and feels miles better than the aluminium... I have had a S0 Space Black, S2 and now S4 in Silver Steel - gonna jump on the S7 Titanium in Black

Apple is confusing here…

Looks like they are deciding not to differentiate between the steel finishes, we know the gold is PVD and that is not mentioned either.
A quick Google got me these four articles/ads that state the Graphite is DLC.
1 2 3 4

I presume these specs are from Apple so am pretty confident it is DLC. 👍

Just to be clear you have seen or own SB Ti?

It’s this excellent brushed finish that makes it so much more high end and clearly differentiates it from the rather dull looking Aluminum case.

I have th GBSS and the difference from the SBSS s5 was clearly obvious it feels like I missed out and the S6 graphite was a downgrade imho

PERSONALLY, I have seen the titanium and I think it looks too much like aluminum, it feels incredible though. The graphite looks to be an 'upgraded' look from, space black Stainless Steel, and I think it looks a lot more expensive.
The one thing I noticed with my S5 black titanium is the watch never got warm/hot from sunlight. Whereas the SS case on my S6 got so hot it overheated and had to turn off on a few occasions. Not a huge deal but if you’re outside a lot this can be a concern.

That's good to know.
At the time it turned off had you been using cellular or was it paired to the iPhone?

I had not been using cellular. But the warmth was similar to what the watch feels like when using cellular for a prolonged period of time.
