sigh

no more waiting for me.
i need a computer for school...classes started 2 weeks ago.
i think i'm going to order one tonight.

I'm in the market for a new lap-top - I'm in no hurry, but I will probably buy when the next crop get released - whenever that is - I wasn't expecting them today so no disapointment. Christmas would be good timing, maybe :)

Well I am on my dying PBG4 and I need an intel based machine for Grad School. I like many others have been waiting since Macworld 08 for a significant update to the notebook lineups and I cant really wait any longer as my PB is too slow and wont run my exam software. So I can either get a replacement PB (MBP) or a MB which both run faster than my current machine but seem under spec'd for the price not to mention the graphics card issues for the MBP's. However after today's lackluster showing I might go look at lenovos
I know its a music event, blah blah and I sure am glad they held a whole event for nanos, modestly improved touches and some software updates.

Done waiting

I'm heading over to my campus book store tonight to get a MBP, I really don't need anything extra that an upgrade might bring. I'm comfortable with the current specs and design. Being an Accounting major I just need it to run Excel nothing fancy.

I've searched the forums for this with no luck, please forgive me if this has been discussed...

Anyone think the NEW MacBook Pros (I said think this is purely speculation) will have the same keyboard as the MB or Air?

I'd love a link to the thread if it has been discussed. It seems like the notebook line is going towards that...

Thoughts?

I'm still waiting. I'm in no hurry, though; my iBook is still in great shape.

I'm waiting to see if they really are going to be aluminum, and if so, whether the upgrades are worth giving up my beloved white. :p If not, I'll buy a current MacBook and be happy with the price break.

Anyone waiting for a new MB or MBP can likely expect to wait until at least October...Apple was not going to release a new MacBook right in the middle of a BTS promotion..They would have a lot of angry customers.

I hope the new MB gets a better screen and the lowend model will get a DVD burner.

I'm still waiting.

I want either a macbook air with a faster processor, upgradeable ram to 4gb, and a bigger/cheaper ssd option.

Or, I want a redesigned MBP.

Or an aluminum Macbook.

Here's to waiting : )

Lenovo

Been waiting for several months now and this is driving me nuts. If new macbooks are not released in three weeks, I will be buying a Lenovo.

Yeah, that Lenovo U330 is HOT. And with employee pricing, it comes out to as much as a entry-level Macbook. Incredible when it has better specs than the Air! Just needs to run OS X. :D

I say nothin' new til MWSF 09. With all the probs lately (i.e. iPhone, Air, mobileme), I don't think Apple will be rushing any new hardware changes to market. I have a feeling ol' Mr. Jobs might be saying "slow this train...test this stuff a bit more"...well I'd LIKE to think he's saying that.

If you need a MB now, just buy it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5B108 Safari/525.20)

well I kept a lot of people from buying due to "updates are around the corner"... most of them got sick of waiting as college started here last week...

My finall converter was waiting till today, he lives in Europe and us a freshmen... Gonna pick up a blackbook and free iPod touch for him tomorrow as I'm sending it back with his mother over the weekend...

However I'm waiting till my bday in early October for a MBP update... Hope I don't have to wait too long after my bday!

I would say we're looking at some new Notebooks before the year is up purely to cash in on Christmas sales. Saying this Apple's MacBook's and MacBook Air's are still selling like nuts so they will definitely the through until the new year, also I bet Apple's main focus for Christmas sales are new iPods and iPhones....

I would say we are looking at 50/50 as to when they are released, could be in October but also could be in the January 09.

Bought my new Macbook this morning.

Will have it up and running by tonight and on the road with me this weekend.

stil undecided

Still undecided to wait or not to wait. I hate to miss the BTS promo if new macbooks aren't coming until after October. The Touch upgrades are nice, external controls, speaker, size for price. Now I can pay 299 and get the 16g for the same 299 that used to buy 8gb (what I would have gotten free with the rebate).

If I wait, the macbook might come down in price-maybe $100.
The current education price for the cheapest is 999, so right now for $999 I get old computer and old 8gb Touch. Or for 1099 get the 16 gb Touch.

If Macbook comes down 100, to $899 I can spend 899 + 229 =1128 (for the new 8gb). So, for $128 more I get the newer computer and newer Touch, or spend $198 more (899 + 299= 1198) than the old stuff I can get the 16gb new touch and the updated macbook.

All depends on new Macbook pricing!! (plus I'm hoping not to get white-it's not masculine to me and the black is more expensive-that I see on the site)

Do I have this figured correctly? Are the changes to the two worth $100-$200 and will they reduce the Macbook prices!!?? If they don't come out soon with a reduced price, and I've missed the BTS I may just go with another (cheaper) brand. I've always used Windows anyway, so it wouldn't bother me. Just trying to get the most bang for my buck.

That just gave me a headache. Way too much over analyzing.

If there are no new interesting Macs by the end of September, I'll be defecting over to a Sony Vaio TZ.

Apple hardware design is just so... meh these days.

i was hoping so badly that they would at least TALK about the new notebook line at yesterdays event... as like a "one more thing". i still have my black powerbook g3 which is almost dead haha. i have been waiting so long for this update as all of us have, i have a feeling it is coming in the next couple weeks.

everyone, hang in there. the new books are going to be incredible machines. at this point, you just have to give apple a little more time to get there act together with the laptops.

who else is hoping for a black aluminum macbook/macbook pro?
