Great iPods but still no Macbooks, who is still waiting???

We need to hear updated news about the macbooks, so that we'll have a better idea of what's going to happen...

I seriously can't take the wait much longer. The current ones aren't worth the price to me, and I don't want a PC. I'll wait, but my sanity won't.

Haha I completely agree with you about waiting but its driving you insane, but also on the front page of this website today they posted a forecast of October 14th as the release date for the new laptops, Im just hoping they talk about them soon, I want to see the new design

"DaringFireball now claims that Apple will be releasing new notebooks on October 14th according to sources "familiar with Apple's hardware plans." This timeframe fits into recent expectations of a more staggered release, and recent hints to resellers that notebook refreshes would have to wait until October."

Waiting really sucks, but the reason i am waiting is because i am hoping they come out with some really nice stuff. -- a newer and better macbook would be great - and if they just had the aluminum casing like the MBP (i'm guessing they will add this on as they have been swaying towards this considering the Air and the MBP) it would eliminate the fact that many people diss it by calling it a "crackbook" and aluminum would help it run slightly cooler by absorbing and dissipating heat. :apple:

Some of the things i would like to see in a new MB:

1. Aluminum casing AND Backlit Keyboard similar to the MBA - but this is assuming that the keys are the SAME color as the casing -- cuz the MBA looks ugly cuz of discolored keys... =(
2. 7200 RPM Drive Option for 200/250GB [many base laptops have this]
3. Intel's NEW 180GB Solid State Disk!!! [this was released for Intel at the same price of a 32 GB SSD -- about $450]
4. Faster Processor --> atleast 2.8 Ghz Core2Duo - MAYBE an option for a Mobile Quadcore processor(not likely at all)
5. Better Graphics -- atleast Intel GMA X4500 - which actually benches close to the Ge Force 8400 -- but i prefer to have a dedicated card - cuz i play CASUAL games -- if not then atleast put a Mobile ATI card or something.
6. Up to 6GB of RAM -- atleast -- i need more than 4 GB Because i use REALLY ram intensive apps in Vista (but not graphics intensive - cuz then i would buy a MBP)
7. Support for 64 Bit versions of Vista (with drivers on the OS X DVD that you get!)
8. Price Cuts!!!! - BIG Price Cuts!!!!
9. 802.16 Wireless Infrastructure - a friend of mine is developing this and its not for the public - but compared to wireless N - you get about 12 times the Range and 4 times the speed of N - which is 20 Times the speed of g (N is 5x G) :D

so here's to Apple :apple: and PLEASE steve Jobs - we LOVE your ideas, but listen to us and make a better Macbook!!!!! :cool:

if all this came out for the MB then i would buy it because it would be the laptop of my dreams :)

1. Apple already has a MacBook Air, why do they need another one? The iMac and the MacBook always were similar, and the MacBook Pro's and Mac Pro's
5. You'll have to wait a lot longer than January if you want dedicated graphics...
6. Not for a while, the MacBook Pro's will have the option first.
8. Never, ever, going to happen.

No way the iMacs and MacBooks are similar, just as the Mac Pros and MacBook Pros aren't similar. The iMacs share much of their hardware with the MacBook Pros, really. The Mac Pro is on a whole other level than any other machine Apple has to offer. The MacBook is much more similar to the Mac mini, actually, than to the iMac.

The iMac and MacBook both feature the curvy sleek design, that connection would be lost if they made it a MacBook Air. The MacBook Pro and Mac Pro both have a very similar casing style, I'm in no way comparing hardware.
 
Still Waiting

I've been saving up for one since May, and I finished saving up in August, and I've been waiting since. Hopefully they come out in October if not I'm not going to wait any more.
 
i am def. wait until october 14 hopefully thats when it actually comes out, but i heard the the air will also get an upgrade. Which makes my decision all the harder.


When the macbook is released will they be sold out fast? Like online? Because if it is anything like the iphones releases and i dont get one right away i am going to be bumbed out. Cause i can only order online.

Interesting - where did you hear that?? i hope its true - cuz Oct 12 is my birthday - and that means i will have lots of cash :D
 
Got a 2.4 MB last week, loving it so far, although I might do a trade up when the new models come out; but for now very impressed (first time OS X user).
 
I decided not to wait on the new version because I really like the "old" version, so I bought one, grabbed a free all-in-one printer and a free iPod touch. After I sell the touch I'll be looking at around $800 for a great laptop and a good all-in-one. Tough to beat.

good luck selling that iPod for anythig decent. You should have moved on this before the 9th.

Yes, I make myself nuts sometimes. I was just hoping someone else had also analyzed and come up with the perfect answer.

Now tonight I see the new rumor...

Looks like I'm waiting. My Apple crazy brother thinks the new features are worth it. It's for my college freshman son, he better take good care of it when he finally gets it.

I'd also like to check out all 3 lines before making a buy decision. Would be great to have a big ol' laptop lollapalooza lovefest on Oct 14, with all the new books out at once. I'm sure I'd bother the Windoze drones in my office with all my moaning and sighing.

Only four whole Mon=Fri weeks to go, with a bit at each end...will be a waity autumn...:eek:
 
I've waited for ages and don't actually need it for another three or four weeks anyway so I figure I'm going to wait until we FINALLY get the iPod rebate promotion over here in the UK which is scheduled for any moment now.
Can't wait to get a new nano!!
I'll just be using it for word processing, itunes, Nike+ and the internet so a base model is just fine for me!
And it's my first mac...rather excited!

BTW there is always rumors. Doesn't make them facts. Some sites are saying it will be longer than Oct 14th. Who knows besides the big guys/gals at Apple.

Personally I think the biggest change will be the new case. In which case I hate aluminum.

The back to school deal ends the 15th of this month and IMO is the best option for college students to get the most bang for their/parents dollar.
