This is not a guess, more of a question. I'm guessing they won't do it.
But if apple want to do a yearly cycle for new systems, why not just name it after the year? Stop the OS X name altogether - and numbers 10.8 and 10.9, etc. - and stop names like mountain lion, mavericks, etc. - and just name the next one OS 2014 and then OS 2015, etc.
People are already associating years to systems. Years from now, mention mountain lion and people will say, "Oh yeah. I remember that. That was the 2012 version". Then mention mavericks and they will say "Oh yeah. I remember that. That was the 2013 version"....
So why not just name it after the year? Makes sense to me (provided they do actually keep up the yearly cycle).
