Hey

Just an FYI, a 1 hour drive is NOT considered far for Bay Area/California residents. Heck, I drive to Monterey for dinner every once and a while - good seafood and more. The whole area is an upscale and sophisticated community.

A 1 hour commute is not rare by any means as well.

Monterey, Yosemite, Redwood, etc sound good!

FYI, I live the Bay Area and about 30 minutes from Cupertino so I know the Bay Area better than many people here. So what point am I making? I don't know. What point are U making? I have no idea.
If you were to go back through the thread and see where this "one our drive madness" originated from then you may not have bothered to reply. BTW, Monterey is pushing 90 minutes from Cupertino. It's not considered "Nearby" but Cupertino to Half Moon Bay is under 40 minutes and that makes more sense to call it "Nearby" when naming landmarks that are considered close to Apple Headquarters.

Whatever floats your boat. :)

But the names will be whatever Phil Schiller wants. ;) If you look at his twitter, you'll get the idea regarding Mavericks and that general area.

In the keynote, Craig said nothing about the naming scheme being "locations close to Cupertino" but "California landmarks" or something like that. As you know, its a large state with lots of landmarks, large and small.

OMG, man I'm trying to get you to understand that you're responses to my posts are irrelevant. I did recommend that you check out the thread that led to my post and it would make sense to you. You're obviously not getting it. I never mentioned that Apple should name OS X from landmarks that are close to them, it doesn't matter to me where the landmark is. Another poster said Apple should name OSX after landmarks in Monterey since it was close by Apple Headquarters. I wouldn't necessarily consider 90 minutes to be close by considering Half Moon Bay is under 40 minutes from Cupertino. It was just a discussion about distances, that's all there was. Please stop making this about me, it's not.

OSX 10.10 Alcatraz
OSX 10.10 San Quentin

Beginning with OSX 10.10, the run apps from "All" sources option will be removed from Security preferences pane.

OSX 10.11 For Workgroups :p

After Jony Ive reskins the next version after iOS 7, they will call it OS X Disneyland.

Maybe it will turn into OS11? 10.10 is just weird

i think jony ive should have given OSX a redesign aswell i thought that was the case at WWDC MMXIII

Even though this version of Mac OS X is 10.9, I don't think Apple is going to make a major, from scratch renewal of Mac OS and name it XI. (11) So I believe it's going to be called 10.10. Now that they left cat names behind and moved on to locations in California. We can start guessing and making a database of guesses for the next one. I say;

OS X Yosemite, 10.10.

Apple needs to find an even stupider name than Mavericks.

I remember how Steve Jobs seemed to be obsessed with Yosemite during some keynote(s). Can't remember which one(s) though.

erm, seeing as currently the build is 10.9, I'm sure that there is NO OSX, if anything there's be OS XI :D

Seeing as they've started on the surfer scene, I wonder if OS XI will be named 'OS XI Dude' :D

Why not Mac OS 10.10, Mac OS 10.11? Apple has done that before. 9 is not "the end".

For example, Tiger had a version 10.4.10 and 10.4.11.

Apple doesn't care much about version numbers - it's only us geeks even mentioning that. For normal people, 10.9 is simply "Mavericks".

OS X Kokomo
No 1 hit for the Beach Boys in 1988.
Kokomo, Indiana.
Kokomo, Arkansas.
Kokomo, Hawaii.

OS X Zzyzx. Is a real California place in case you are skeptical. The pronunciation might be a problem though..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zzyzx,_California

+1 for Zzyzx.

Phonetically, it is one of, if not the only word spelled with all consonants (the y is acting as a vowel, I know, but that's up for debate :) )

Lexicographically, it is the absolute last word, place, or name in the English alphabet.

In medicinal lore, the person who created the health resort there named it that to be the final word: the cure to end all cures.

For the latter, seeing how well Windows is going, OS X may just be that. ;)

BL.
