Feels to me like Apple knows there will be foldable phones coming in a couple years, sees how much Samsung etc charge and wants to charge even higher, and expects to be more mass market so is incrementally getting everyone used to that $2K price with pro/ulltra phones creeping towards it.

A super pro?

What a dumb idea.

I can see the annoying as AF YouTube’s now worshipping it like they do that god awful and ugly AW ultra.
Finally someone said it.

That watch is ugly as sin, EVERYONE slated it when the cad leaked but now it’s “so beautiful” and “reviewers” are too scared to say it for fear of being backlisted.

You don’t really need any new iPhones beyond the 13 pro. That being said I’m interested to see 3nm.

I'd only consider a foldable iPhone a decade from now at the earliest. I do not want to pay for a device that would have a possibly high failure rate

Apple is very sleek when it comes to getting their way, they will first introduce the portless phone as an ultra premium feature and then when it's time to make the overall transition it's gonna be advertised as a premium feature now available on the peasant lineup while they will have achieved avoiding further port regulation.

Also, IMO what we need is not more iPhones to choose from, they are already too many and they are the same year after year anyway, what we need is fewer models, less frequent but more substantial hardware releases and better and more capable software, the hardware is already good enough, the software is where there is tons of room for improvement.
I agree! Sometimes I do miss this iPhone lineup. Offered in only 2 exclusive colors. Nothing else, nothing more. Simpler times!

So assume they add features to the higher end phone, how do “pro” purchasers suffer at all? Seems like a little bit of envy on your part.
Pro users get the best features because they pay higher, they will no longer get that if another model comes along and the pro line just becomes a basic line with a stupid name.

How is that envy? You know Tim isn’t going to hate you right if you don’t agree with Apple for once.

iPhone Pro Max Plus Ultra Edition

An Apple Employee will hand deliver it to you and will spend the rest of the product's functional life by your side holding and using your phone for you so you don't even have to lift a finger.

Apple better be releasing this iPhone Ultra in Ceramic Edition.

I don’t care how expensive it’s going to cost. Make it Ultra Premium. Targeted towards the exclusive high-end loyal users.
And I want it to have control over space lasers, to pop any strange balloons that might be floating over my property.

I have an iphone SE3 and an iphone 11. And the 14 Pro Max. I notice differences in size and weight among them and of course I notice display differences. But in actual use, unless I'm taking photos or videos, it's honestly all the same to me. It's the same damn phone in different sizes with a different camera system attached.

I can't imagine what Apple could or would do to make it worth all the extra moolah they want to charge for something that's going to be extra Extra.

At least with my S23 Ultra I get built in pen functionality (and the pen also works as a remote control for the camera).

There's also split screen multi tasking. You can even hook it up to a monitor and keyboard via Dex and have it work as a computer, (though I don't bother with that and few people do). There are other features and differences, because the Galaxy Ultra has a specially tailored version of Android to give it unique functionality not readily amenable to smaller and cheaper designs.

Other than different materials, a different size class and something extra with the cameras, how is Apple going to make this thing worthy of a new classification? What's the point? Will it have a customized version of iOS to give people something truly different and truly superlative?

2TB option is an extra $2k
So you want a 2 lb phone? Laws of physics at work here.
Yes sir! That’s fine with me. I don't mind it honestly as long it serves a stellar performance, more battery life, and an amazing camera.

Look at how much Galaxy Z Fold cost. Also, I'll take that over Foldable iPhone any day!

The iPhone 16 pro ultra could be a phablet with functionality similar to iPadOS.
