If by "significant improvements to notifications," Mark Gurman means that Apple will finally implement an always-on display, like on Android, then count me in!

We have been waiting so long for an AOD....

How about iOS and iPadOS parity already? When is a native weather and calculator app going to arrive on iPadOS for starters. Files app needs a major overhaul. A child’s account or guest account or mode. Why does Apple take forever with these basic features does Tim Cook expect a parent to purchase a separate iPad for a toddlers and guests. Does this not go counter to the green message?

The ability to schedule notifications off/on would be nice. Who needs some garbage notifications on teams or outlook after hours. I don’t need to see a number next to those apps when I’m not at work.

Notifications Summaries are a mess. I tried explaining it to some non-tech users and they found it wildly confusing. And so is the new Focus feature. If they address this and introduce a new Home app, I’ll be very happy.

Android is running away from iOS. It’s full of features, intuitive, and finally perfectly smooth. It’s becoming less and less obvious that iOS is the go to mobile device, unless you are already locked into the apple ecosystem.

I want a synced Notification Center across all my devices! If I get rid of a specific notification on my iPhone, I want the same notification gone from my iPad and Mac. That is all I need
This was an iOS 7 feature that suddenly got swept under the rug

Mail notifications used to sync between devices, but now they don't

Focus modes sync so well between devices that they should implement this system into notifications

The most significant improvement that could be made to notifications would be a way to turn it off. Forever.
Please please get rid of the the 3 spot horror on top of safari on iPad.

I’m sick of accidentally opening tabs and apps that have tabs and multi windows.

Adding new features is good but it’s now becoming at the cost of ease of use!

To many things to press tightly packed together is always resulting accidental taps on things I don’t want or need, and no option to turn them off.
And the ability to not disable that function is a horror to those that have less control of furtive movements.

Mark Gurman said:
On the iOS side, I’m looking for some fairly significant enhancements across the board, including an update to notifications and new health-tracking features.

That sounds slightly different than "significant improvements to notifications" to me. Sounds more like a lot of changes throughout the OS.

I would like to see Apple Maps gain a commuter mode or something. I’d love to get all the traffic alerts without actually having to have it navigate (example: I know how to get to work, but I want to know if an accident or speed trap has been reported.)

Reminds me of this old iPhone joke to reinforce your point but iOS/iPadOS do need to evolve past simple adding features:

A journalist asked Tim Cook why iPhones are so expensive

"Well", said Tim Cook, "that's because the iPhone replaces a whole bunch of devices. A phone, a camera, a watch, a music player, a video player, a PDA, a voice recorder, a GPS navigator, a flashlight, a calculator, a portable gaming console, and many other things. Surely, a high price is worth paying to replace so many devices!"

"Then why are Androids so much cheaper?", asked the journalist.

"Because," said Tim Cook, "an Android replaces just one device. The iPhone."

Even though this is just humor, Apple needs to evolve these ecosystems so that it's is more appealing to use not simply more secure. That means improving the way IOS/iPadOS can be used rather than adding more features. :)

Why wouldn't be easily turned off? You don't have to link them now.

I don't want texts on my ipad either. If I'm using it, it's usually because I'm reading or watching something and don't want to be bothered.

Texts on the mac are great, I see it quick, can fire off a quick response if need be, get back to working, without having to move or touch my phone.
You can just put your iPad on do not disturb mode. That solves your problem and when you need to/want to get texts just remove do not disturb.

As long as you can easily turn it off.
I feel like apple makes these “synced” features and then its like pulling teeth to disable it.
Personally I don’t want any interaction between my iPhone and anything else. I like that I don’t get texts on my mac or iPad.
Like Focus mode.

Waiting to see when we stop referring to iOS/iPadOS being the same for iPhones and iPads? They have the same builds, you can't keep this up if you want to focus more on iPads as running more like a computer. Its like you don't need to be able to use Safari on a IPad and be able to view a webpage either as a mobile webpage or desktop webpage do we? Also if they do come out with a new iPadOS multitasking interface you don't necessary want to that be part of iOS do we?
I mean if you want to be fair, pretty much all of the operating systems below iOS are still just iOS.
And, as Steve Jobs pointed out during the original iPhones introduction, the iPhone operating system (iOS) is just a dramatically downscale version of macOS.
Internally, iOS is actually called iPhone OS still to this day. I’m surprised they didn’t change back to iPhone OS in their marketing materials after introducing iPad OS, but I guess iOS is just so recognizable today that it wouldn’t be a good move.
Either way, Apple can introduce features to the iPad, the Apple TV, the Apple Watch, the HomePod, and the Mac without changing them on the iPhone. They’ve done it before, they can do it again.
Redesigned multitasking coming to the iPad does not mean that it’s coming to the iPhone

I agree with you, but they still can't sync safari bookmarks and tabs correctly all these years, so set your expectations low even if they eventually add this feature.

I hope no redesign means finally a stable release free of bugs… HomeKit is a mess. Siri is a mess. Hoping they are focusing on fixing those things. Having to jump through hoops or figure out what command Siri likes this week is getting really old.
People might have more tolerance if they'd make Siri more honest and humble. Instead of shrugging off the problem, Siri should say things like, "I apologize for my incompetence", "I am sorry I can't do anything right", "I am dumb, I don't understand anything. This is all my fault. I will keep trying. Thanks for putting up with me."
