Health tracking features? Like trying to force people to upgrade to fitness+? For the longest time, when I asked Siri to start a workout with my airpods on, it used to launch that workout on my apple watch. Very logical. Nowadays, it tells me to unlock my iPhone and when I do, it launches fitness+.

Apple has officially been taken over by bean counters. I can’t wait until Apple stock drops 30% and Tim Cook is forced out.
Really? Apple stock is almost exactly 30% higher than it was a year ago. I think Cook is safe.

As for the fitness workouts — since Fitness+ has workouts, why wouldn’t there be confusion over what you are referring to? It is probably basing this off what most other users refer to. So there is probably a different command to start a non-Fitness+ workout. Or you could just tap this on your watch, or run a shortcut.

Please just let me put my icons where I want and not have everything jump up to the top. Also, I would love custom launchers, themes, and while I’m at it, a pony.

If they release a 15 or 16 inch MacBook Air, I'm in. I'm consistently bought the 15/16-in Pros, not because I need the power of the Pro model, but because I want the big screen.

I would like to see MAJOR improvements to Apple mail. Next to the Safari, people spend more time in Apple mail. Apple mail has not been updated in a bazillion years. I would like to see some significant feature updates to Apple mail.

All I want is to be able to set a timer on one HomePod or HomePod Mini and have the option to have it connected to which ever other HomePods in the house I want. So that if I start a timer downstairs, and then am in a different room I can ask the HomePod in the new room how much time is left on the timer and it will know!

I think one of the biggest complaints I hear about regularly is how volume control is handled.

The easiest fix would be when you 3D press (or whatever we call it with our long press now) on the volume control in control center, to have it open up distinct controls for different things for example, something like: Ringer volume, system sounds volume, applications volume.

That's just how iOS development is these days. They announce a set of features they have planned for the next major release and release them when they are ready. This is much better than having to crunch and get everything ready at the same date, with all the bugs that brings with it.
Except that even with the staggered releases of announced features, the OS is still buggy.
I mean even basic features that have been in the OS for ages got bugs now out of nowhere (eg. 15.4 breaking gapless music playback)

Personally I'd rather see Apple holding off new features and focusses on optimization and bug fixes. Or maybe even fork out iOS into having an "LTSC-like" version for some of us who prefer stable OS than new features.

Which is exactly what Apple wanted and why they will not release a 15" MacBook Air. Why release something that will reduce their ASP when they can push people into spending more money than needed?

I would love AI-driven suggestions on notifications for what gets grouped in once-daily updates, what gets displayed immediately, and what doesn't go through at all.

Every app wants to blast you with as many notifications as possible, and it's gotten to the point where I can't sift through them all or make a full time job of managing them so I just ignore 99% of notifications. As a result, the utility of notifications has been rapidly going down for me over recent years.

Apple just needs to fix iCloud, a couple of weeks ago Safari bookmarks stopped syncing between my iPad and my iPhone, I don't care about any iOS 16 new functionality if iCloud doesn't work.

Call me crazy, but... what else can really be done to notifications? Tweaks, sure, but there's nothing they can do that would be significant for me. Plus, how many times can you "significantly" overhaul the same thing that at its core will work the same no matter how you go about it...?

Feels like another year of cop-out "features" is on its way.
I'm guessing a lot of people already replied to you, so not to pile on, but:

The notifications between iOS/iPadOS devices need to be synced. I'm so sick of dismissing a notification on my iPhone only for it to still be there when I get to my iPad. I'm doing double duty with notifications all the damn time and I'm sick of it. I never had this problem on Android.

Exactly. Everything is so tied together now that when iCloud doesn’t work it breaks TONS of various things.

Safari iCloud stuff is particularly terrible in iOS 15.

Really? See, this is the one area I think Apple has been consistent with iCloud, I’ve had no faults with all my devices/uploads. I’ve been really impressed with the syncing between all my devices with my iPhones, iPads, iPod touch, ect.

To me, it sounds like maybe you’re experiencing some type of glitch or sync related issue. I would suggest contacting Apple‘s iCloud team and be specific with your problem, and see what they have to say. [Unless somebody else can attest they’re experiencing similar issues as to yours.]

Almost no one has safari 100 percent working. A simple google search for example will reveal frequently visited sites is busted for just about everyone. I’ve already talked to apple about that and safari tab groups crashing since 15.4 and both issues they’ve acknowledged and working on a fix.

The overarching point he’s making is that iCloud is kind of a random mess in random ways for people.

I don’t believe anymore to see an AOD on an iPhone in the near future.
Apple wants to sell Apple Watches tonnage this quick view for time and notifications.
They won’t bring an AOD to the iPhones.
I doubt it has to do with selling more Apple watches, because at this point they are much more than just a device to show your iPhone notifications. I think they might be worried about how an AOD might impact battery life on the older iPhones and those without ProMotion displays. Guess they could at least provide that feature with an option to disable and an accompanying warning if enabled. Just leave it to the user to decide, no?

I'm hoping to see sleep tracking on par with Fitbit on the Apple Watch.

I also hope to see a big emphasis on Shortcuts and HomeKit with the launch of Matter coming later this year (unless it is delayed again).

I was one of them, I thought it looked horrible and it ran slow on my iPhone 4.
And that’s exactly why Apple won’t be doing a top to bottom redesign anytime soon.
Not only is it confusing for customers, it’s a nightmare for developers, who all have to re-design their apps to match the new default GUI.
Also, it has the major possibility of causing older devices (and Apple still supports a lot of older devices) to start running like garbage because the OS is clearly optimized for newer devices.
Apple is actually currently having this problem with the Mac. While iOS 15 runs just fine on seven, even some eight-year-old devices, the latest versions of macOS have been The opposite story, with Apple dropping devices super quickly every year, and developing for older Intel computers becoming more and more annoying.
Somehow we’re at the point where iOS 15 can run on the iPad air 2 that was introduced in October 2014 but Monterey will not run on the iMac also introduced in October 2014

Since most of all major iOS/iPadOS apps aren't really ported or supported macOS, it would be nice if Apple can somehow manage this issue. Such as unifying and auto adjustable UI and control base on the OS and allow one app to use on different platforms. But so far, it's just a dream.

Currently, mobile app developers aren't even considering to support macOS because of low market share and users. For example, Alien Isolation released for Intel Mac was ported to iOS/iPadOS but it never ported to Apple Silicon Mac. Same thing for Genshin Impact. Among Us works in macOS but the UI and control is totally terrible since it's not even optimized and ported well for Mac.

Using mobile apps on Mac isn't really great and Apple should really need to improve it. Naver Whale already supports mobile app on desktop so technically, it's not possible. It's just about the market share and profitability which Mac sucks for.

But If Apple can manage this issue, then they can increase more benefits from it especially since Windows 11 also trying to bring mobile apps to PC as well in full version.
This already exists, it’s called Mac catalyst.
Now getting developers to use it is a different story

Gurman also said in the same article
"
Apple is gearing up to launch some new Macs in the next few months. What better place to do so than WWDC? That’s the same venue where Mac’s transition from Intel to Apple’s own chips was announced two years ago.

I’m told there are two new Macs coming around the middle of the year or early in the second half. One of those is likely to be the new MacBook Air."

One thing that would be nice, if they announce a new feature, try and release it with the final version rather than holding things back for 6 months, aka Universal Control
Personally I prefer it this way.
Apple made it clear a couple years ago that when they announce the new operating systems, they’re basically announcing a roadmap for the next year. And honestly, it’s much better. Not only is it easier on developers, who can slowly integrate the new features instead of having to shove them all in at the same time the day that the new iOS version releases, but it gives Apple more time to make sure the features are working properly, and it makes the X.1, X.2, X.3 updates much more exciting instead of just having one big update a year, and then 12 months of nothing.
Not to mention it lessens the chances of absolutely disastrous launches that Apple has had in the past when trying to put out too many things at once.
Flashback to 2008 when Apple launched MobileMe, iPhone OS 2.0, the App Store and the iPhone 3G all on the exact same day and it was… a disaster.
Or three years later when they launched iOS 5, iCloud, Siri, the iPhone 4s, and iMessage all within like two days of each other and it had their servers choked for a good two weeks.
Or when they launched iOS 6 with Apple Maps a good six months before it was even close to ready to go.
Sure, The Apple software updates today aren’t bug free of course, but at least there’s a very low chance of absolutely disastrous launches.
