WTH MacRumors! Why are you still giving a guy who doesn't even know the difference between his backside and a hole in the ground, a guy who has been thoroughly discredited, a platform to post his guesses? That is absurd.

IMO, MR has now become little more than a tabloid rag that you see in the checkout line at a grocery store. What are they going to post next? That Steve Jobs isn’t really dead, that he is in another galaxy producing alien babies?

iPad’s back doesn’t have to be all glass, only the middle part or lower for wireless charging .

or glass is great because you need apple care muhahahah.
The iPad battery is so much larger than the iphone or apple watch battery tho. Could the current apple wireless charger really charge an iPad quickly? Or would apple have to come out with a larger mat like wireless charger to cover more surface area?

Sounds like the new iPad will be a snooze fest. Wireless charging an iPad Pro wouldn't be exciting as it is so large I can't see that being a typical use case. Wireless charging AirPods with the iPad seems less exciting too unless the AirPods can attach themselves via MagSafe or something. As it would be useless to have to flip the iPad over to engage that mode.

I wonder how much of a redesign the iPad Pro can receive. Feels like at a certain point any of these products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) you can really only iterative and make minor changes.

Amazing how nice the iPad Pro still feels, especially for a design that's 3 years old. Really curious where they go with it.

i can’t think of anything other than material changes or going from rounded edges to squared off edges

Stop giving these IDIOTS airtime. They do NOT know s…

They are blind chicken looking for corn - they will find one once in a while, but it is pure luck.

In 2022, I predict the iPhone 14 will be released. At least one new color option will be available. Wifi and LTE support. A16 bionic chip. Better cameras and at least the same or longer battery life.

You heard it here first!

This is kind of repetitive news. We've already had rumors about these products next year. This would be a more interesting piece of news if they had more details beyond what we've already heard.

I wait for new AirPods release for September conferences. They didn’t release any updates, so I bought AirPods Pro. They’re great but sad that  is so slow at releasing new products other that iOS decides.

I could see the IPP get mini-LED and probably some sort of MagSafe functionality.

The clue as to how these will be implemented on the IPP is probably on the forthcoming M1x MBPs.

It’s hard to see how the current design could be improved upon though - maybe titanium instead of steel bands (so it’s lighter).

Hopefully not loads of glass on the back either.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman shared his expectations for future Apple products.

Gurman still expects new MacBook Pros and AirPods to be announced by the end of 2021, but he doesn't anticipate any other groundbreaking product launches until at least next year. Looking ahead to 2022, Gurman said Apple plans to debut several products, including new AirPods Pro, a redesigned iPad Pro, a revamped Mac Pro tower with Apple silicon, a redesigned MacBook Air with Apple silicon, as many as three new Apple Watch models, and more.

Gurman and Bloomberg's Debby Wu previously reported that the new AirPods Pro will feature new motion sensors for fitness tracking, and they said Apple has also tested a smaller design that eliminates the stems below the earbuds. As for the redesigned iPad Pro, Gurman and Wu said Apple is testing a new glass back with wireless charging support and the ability to charge AirPods by placing them on the back of the iPad Pro.

2022 might also be the year that Apple previews its widely rumored mixed-reality headset that combines augmented reality and virtual reality features, according to Gurman. He said Apple's "true AR glasses" are probably still between two and four years away.

Gurman insisted that Apple is working on satellite functionality for future iPhones, which would allow users to send text messages and file emergency reports in areas without cellular service, noting that the features "just aren't ready yet."

Gurman also shared his thoughts on the iPhone 13 and other devices unveiled by Apple this week, reflected on potential App Store changes after the Epic Games verdict, and more. Subscribe to the Power On newsletter here.

New Devices Next Year, Says Man

A couple reactions/thoughts:

- iPad Pro redesign: I’d be surprised if they redesigned it already, unless it’s a super minor change. But I don’t even know what that could be, the design is already so minimalistic. I guess they could play around with the edges, something other than purely flat or purely curved. I just hope they don’t just go back and forth between flat and curved every few years. I guess a glass back could also count as a design change but that’s more just the material used. Glass will be heavier, but maybe it won’t be the whole back.

- at least in this MR article, curiously there’s no mention of a larger iMac, or a higher end Mac mini/smaller Mac Pro (not sure if these are the same rumored device or separate).
