That’s seems like a personal problem to just “trust” any rumours. It’s just fun and games and no one is getting hurt, well except your feelings of trust. 😜
I think it's fair to mention a lot get really frustrated when they need to replace a Apple product and the rumors are so far from the mark. But that's life, rumors are not dependable, just hopefully entertaining and useful to hear about. :)

It’s depends who defines the word “redesign”. For example to these analysts a redesign could be that the volume button gets moved to the top like the mini 6, FaceID relocated, maybe thicker to make it more durable to bends, maybe a different material like Ti to get a leg up over the iPhone 14 Pro, maybe smaller bezels similar to AW7, etc, etc.
Agreed. But I would add that replacing an aluminum back with glass would qualify as a more substantial redesign than even those changes you already list. Aluminum to glass would require complete retooling, and adding support as a wireless charger would require a complete internal re-layout; so all those minor user-facing changes would just come along for the ride.

If by ”last minute” you mean January, you might be right. A manufacturing pipeline the scale of Apple’s will need 7-8 months turnaround time at minimum.

More likely is that rumours blew it, and were a year out.
Rumours of a redesigned mini 6 introduction in 2020 were all set for a release then manufacturing delays occurred which lead to it being introduced in 2021. The rumours were generally spot on with a few exceptions of a smaller Apple Pencil.

I suspect similar occurred with the AW7. I was all ready for the mini 6 in 2020 but we got the iPad Air 4. Was I a little disappointed last year; yes, did I loose sleep; no. Am I excited for my mini 6 deliver on Friday; yes. Did I save money waiting for its introduction; yes. So the benefit of waiting out me in a better position.

I suggest learn to prioritize ones life’s expectations and goals. 😜

I guess Apple also “last minute” scrapped the matte black iPhone 13 Pro, the LPTO display with always on capability, the notification area that was supposed to light up when receiving one, the astrophotography features, and the satellite calling features. They literally got nothing right except that there would be a camera improvement.

These guys are just throwing stuff out there at this point. Apple isn’t letting anything “leak” anymore.

MagSafe won’t come to the iPad. The Smart Connector is already way better.

I don’t care about charging AirPods Pro on the back of an iPad Pro. The case is good enough.

Good news if the new iPad Pro gets substantially better cameras and a better anti-reflective screen.

So many people take selfies. The front camera should be much better. Make a little camera bump in the glass if that’s what it takes.

Apple starting to show signs of age. iPhone 13 line up is a sleeper. Worst upgrade I’ve seen since day one. Steve Jobs once said
‘They’ll buy whatever we give them ‘ and now Tim Cook seems to have taken on this idea also. And I’m sure the sales will be terrific Apple added the Pro Res mode to the camera but you have to have 256 mb too take advantage of it in other words Apple selling more storage at $100 a pop which probably cost them $10 that should make up for people who decided not to upgrade

It’s a coin toss. If your business or personal requirements can be handled with the present hardware then get it and return it if within the window or upgrade when the new announcement meets your expectations or make do with what you have as the new one would be nice to have but not a guarantee one would still not be disappointed.

I understand it blows to purchase something only to get outdone by something better a few day, weeks or months later but that is life you take a gamble. Loosing sleep over it is more of a concerning issues then anything tbh.

We know an approximate device release cycle and if having the newest and best for your money makes one happy then wait out till after an announcement.

I have fallen into the situation of making a purchase and having it updated within weeks, disappointing; yes, but it’s just money and I can either choose to be happy with what I had prior to the announcement or look forward and learn from my mistake, that is life mate. 😁

Totally agree..

It's hilarious to see posters saying "when are they in store so I can touch and feel them!"

See the new colors I guess?
I don't know - really seems like a classic "S year" to me and not deserving of a full new number (13).

I don’t disagree that this is a sleeper upgrade but placing it on Tim Cook is ridiculous. Apple has been doing this since day 1 with the S versions of phones and doing minimal upgrades for years since the iPhone 4 was released.

People just get too bought in on these ridiculous rumors. Apple is never going to throw the kitchen sink at a phone because they know people are going to buy whatever they give them, just like Steve Jobs said and how Apple has been doing it since the original iPhone was released.

I would love to know which iPad OS the thumbs down folks are using.... it can't be the same sucktastic experience everyone else has.

Same -- iPad OS is just such a weird, still hamstrung, bizarro land.

I enjoy my iPad mainly because I use it very much as they were originally released (single screen/app at a time, not trying to accomplish too much of complexity, etc)

I wonder how much of a redesign the iPad Pro can receive. Feels like at a certain point any of these products (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) you can really only iterative and make minor changes.

Amazing how nice the iPad Pro still feels, especially for a design that's 3 years old. Really curious where they go with it.

Other than having a “premium” look and feel there are more disadvantages to a glass rear than metal. I would consider it a step back in durability and functionality as Samsung did this on its tablet line and I don’t suspect it went well. More glass means more chance for cracking and more weight. I have doubts in this rumour but then again I am also not in the market for an iPad Pro, if I was I would hold out to see what others experience as far as durability.

It has an LTPO display, but only down to 10Hz (Apple Watch can reach 1Hz, which I guess is the reason why iPhones didn’t get AOD). That “notification area” rumor sounds very sketchy, I hadn’t even heard it, not at least from Gurman et al. Astrophotography wasn’t explicitly mentioned, but you can do it — they even showed one image with long exposure in the keynote.
I’m not saying they didn’t have a high rate of errors this time (esp. with the watch), but many of the rumors they anticipate are way beyond what you can guess with no extra information.

It depends who is upgrading, if it is someone who has an iPhone 12 then no it is not much of an upgrade and a “S” year, but for someone upgrading from a 6 upto a XR/XS or even an 11 (non-Pro) maybe.

As an iPhone 12 Pro owner, it’s not worth it to me but to others it maybe and no need to be damp cloth on they excitement 😁

In a futile hope to recover from 'Predictiongate', a vague prediction emerges, as if tentatively from the depths, to be either raised on our shoulders, or trampled in the dirt. So much was found wrong in the wake of 'Predictiongate', how anyone can even come close to accepting them on face value in the future is amazing...:D:cool:

I am curious to see the durability and longevity of an OLED screen going from 10 Hz to 120 Hz, we have some data on AW going from 1 Hz and up and we have data for iPad Pro for LED but not enough for miniLED. Maybe it does or does not make a difference but my guess that iPhone 14 Pro will probably have tweaks for ProMotion.

Depends on what you care more about. If it’s external appearances, then obviously the 12 was a bigger change. If it’s features, I’d say the 13 (bigger year to year improvements in camera, display and battery). Also, I guess there are people who had the 11 and hadn’t tried the 12, so the external design is also different for them, and in that case I would want to try it before buying.

Why would it need a glass back to support wireless charging?
Does the iPhone need the glass to support it?
Metal and Qi do not get along, some couple counselling may help but I have my doubts, alert the divorce lawyers 😝
