Maybe saving M chip for Apple TV for when Nvidia make the next Tegra to use in next gen Shield.
You must live alone.I have been waiting for a new AppleTV for a long time.
Oh well…
The truth is that after I started watching Movies in my Vision Pro, nothing compares (movie theater, iMax, 82” TV, 120” projector, etc) to it.
That is a classic."There's no hardware slated to be announced at WWDC, unless Apple unexpectedly previews a new device launching later (to be clear: I don't expect that)," said Gurman
I don’t know why but I’m feeling lately that apple has lost its magic. it’s all rehashed stuff and flops. Honestly, it’s time for new leadership and a team focused back on what made apple so good. They have missed the entire boat on AI. They aren’t consistent. There’s never any surprises anymore. It’s all stuff that is great but nothing groundbreaking. And please stop with the dumb video recorded announcements. Do it live and in front of a huge audience and then do the ”one more thing” and give us hope that apple is still alive.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman does not expect Apple to announce any new hardware during its WWDC 2024 keynote on June 10.

"There's no hardware slated to be announced at WWDC, unless Apple unexpectedly previews a new device launching later (to be clear: I don't expect that)," said Gurman, in his Power On newsletter today.
Notably, Gurman now says a new Apple TV model "isn't imminent," despite previously reporting that Apple was aiming to release a new Apple TV in the first half of 2024. The current Apple TV was introduced in October 2022.
Here is when the previous five Apple TV models were announced:
- Third-generation Apple TV 4K: October 2022
- Second-generation Apple TV 4K: April 2021
- First-generation Apple TV 4K: September 2017
- Apple TV HD: September 2015
- Third-generation Apple TV: March 2012
The next Apple TV is rumored to feature a faster processor than the current A15 Bionic chip, and even lower pricing. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the next Apple TV could have a $99 starting price in the U.S., down from $129 currently.
No major design changes have been rumored for the next Apple TV specifically, but Gurman said Apple has considered adding a built-in camera to a future model. tvOS 17 added a FaceTime app to the Apple TV, allowing for users to have video calls on the TV, but this currently requires using the rear camera on a connected iPhone or iPad.

Apple does show hardware sometimes, where it is particularly when there is new software associated with it, but sometimes just when their hardware schedule needs a venue to announce something. It seems like they just aren’t ready with any particular hardware this year or they have some much software that they want to focus on that. For me hardware at WWDC makes perfect sense. They're saying 'here's the software, now here are the tools for you to go and develop for it'.
This sums up the last 10 or so years of Apple keynotes.Major "meh" for me
The last time Apple did this, with putting Siri suggestions everywhere, I immediately turned them all off. Siri is useless for anything beyond setting timers and basic stuff like that. I am not expecting anything better now. They've had over a decade to improve Siri and they have no ideas. So there's no way they've suddenly figured it out in the last year.

Wouldn’t that necessitate a fan or something. The addition of an AV1 hardware decoder and improved thermal management wouldn’t allow Apple to lower the price. They might have to raise it.
You aren’t thinking longer term though. Having a M chip in the ATV would mean the newer AAA titles that you are now able to play on the newer Macs, iPhones and iPads of this world could then make their way to the ATV and thus providing a true ”play anywhere” experience. Nothing stopping Apple doing a redesign if they so wish to facilitate such a thing.Sorry but that just isn’t going to happen. They won’t put the M series chip in the Apple TV as it would be so overkill it’s silly. Plus it would need a total redesign with a fan as that’s far too small with a power supply built in to handle the heat without a fan.
And Nvidia won’t make a new Shield TV, they have actually made several new Tegra chips over the years that are suitable replacements and they’ve never used them to upgrade it, also the chip in the new Nintendo Switch is a custom part for Nintendo, it doesn’t need DLSS and ray tracing to run Netflix. Nvidia is all about game streaming now now making a small Apple TV competitor that can play games well. I would except Nvidia to cancel the Shield TV soon if anything.
To be honest, new Apple TV is not needed. The chipset in current is overkill.
That is a very uneducated view of the state and development of AI.AI creates more problems than it solves.
You're looking at cars with 100 years of development, this technology matured a long time ago.Cars are bad in some ways, but the fact it gets you from point A to point B 100x faster than a horse is the main point.
Yeah I think that about an Apple TV, my first 4k one which I think is 2019 model still feels fastThe latest gen Apple TV 4K really doesn't need any hardware updates. When I first heard about this rumour, I was thinking it was dubious at best. I could imagine Apple TV one day introducing advanced features like using HomePods for surround sound (more than 2 speakers at once), but that would probably require new HomePod updates first.
One day they will be able to squeeze something with the power of an Xbox into Apple TV. I’d buy that. The latest gen Apple TV 4K really doesn't need any hardware updates. All the indications are that the WWDC keynote will be software focussed and if they want us to be talking about AI then that’s understandable. However if the top of the range machines (the Mac Studio and the Mac Pro) remain on M2 based processors then it’s a misstep by Apple. If Gurman is right and those machines aren’t updated for up to another year then it’s an even bigger mistake and many professional Mac users will be seriously annoyed.
My hope is that those machines are updated soon and it’s announced via a press release.
While it’s not a “problem” just yet, the next Apple TV is going to need the AV1 hardware decoder. It’s worth the wait. I suspect that requirement is working against a low price-point right now.
