I'm always fascinated by Gurman's sources.

We're 5 days away from the keynote. Apple knows EXACTLY what they're announcing. There's zero gray area there.

And yet, Gurman knows that several Macs will be announced, but doesn't know which ones?

Sure doesn't sound like his sources are very high up the org tree.

I haven’t been this excited for an Apple Keynote in quite some time. First event in a loooooooong time where it feels like we’ll see something truly new (i.e. not just a slow and subtle evolution of an aluminum and glass slab).

I feel like Apple needs to at least tease the new Mac Pro at this point because it’s so behind schedule.

15” MBA can literally be announced in 3 minutes if it’s as straightforward as rumored. Maybe even just a quick mention and a press release. Only the new Mac Pro really makes sense to dedicate any time to in an already stuffed keynote.

Bring it on!

I do wonder if packing all this into one keynote means the new Macs (and OS upgrades) will be lacklustre
I would say the opposite. The products are a chain in the 'halo' format; that is, they announce a radically new product (the AR/VR headset), which is better to develop for when paired with a newly announced Mac; which now has similar OS upgrades to the iPad, an equally interesting companion to the headset... They know what they're doing.

I think we are going to see something a bit unusual. Like another basic M2 variant, maybe with 12GB RAM. Maybe some price cuts/adjustments and maybe even something like rebranding the previous generation MBA to the MacBook SE with the M2.

My calendar invite from Apple still says 2 hours so that doesn't suggest it's going to be much longer than usual. Not long to wait...

Totally agree. In the days of in person keynotes (which I miss) there could be some flexibility with the time. This heavily produced keynote "show" however will be exactly 2 hours as the calendar invite clearly states, just expect the pace of announcements to be quicker.

If Apple announces a 4th Season of Ted Lasso, I’ll be very happy. 😂

Odd the article doesnt mention a refreshed 24" iMac, I would think that is most ready for an update, if minor.

Wouldn't be surprised if he is on Apples payroll to create buzz without actually saying anything beforehand. Just like the Kardashians call paparazzi on themselves and then act like they have no privacy

If true, I’m all for it. one thing I don’t quite understand is why the famously secretive apple doesn’t find a way to muzzle Gurman, whose leaks takes away the element of surprise.

Unless apple is (un)officially feeding Gurman information… ahead of time.

… and it includes useful features and the price has come down significantly.
Of course!

Best wait until it matures and we get Pro/SE models. I might grab an SE headset just like how I got an SE Apple Watch after many revisions/generations. If I need to wait 5 years for a headset that's cool with me.

I think there is definitely a place for headsets and it could be a huge product just like the iPod/iPhone but I'm not jumping in straight away. I do hope it is a success.

Several new Macs could actually appear.
Bigger MBA
Bigger iMac
Refreshed Mac Studio
Mac Pro sneak peek

All of those are possibilities.
I'll be annoyed if we finally get a larger iMac. I wanted one so bad and waited but eventually just went and built a PC. the 24" iMac is too small for me. I wanted a 27-32" iMac.

I will probably still get a 15" MBA though.

Exactly.

The fact that the information is this vague (new Macs but no idea which ones?) plays right into Apple's hands because it just increases people's appetite for Monday's keynote without spoiling anything.

The "new" Macs will probably just be spec bumped MacBooks, which will be a yawner.

But my wallet will be open if there's a 27 inch (or larger) iMac. Don't really care about an upgraded Mac Studio since that's a dead end product, doubly so once a new Mac Pro is announced.

I remember when I used to get excited about these events. The products I'm interested in only get updates every 2 or 3 years. The updates they get are typically incremental speed bumps. Hardly justifies the expense of an upgrade. So I tend to hang to my aging Macs. Usually until they are no longer compatible with the current OS and forced to upgrade.

Well, here's to hoping something excited is announced.

This will be great. My secret wish is a 12” MacBook, we’ll see how iOS 17 improves stability and battery life, eager to know what this journal app is about, and how iPadOS improves the experience on this devices.

I get what you mean, if they keep using M2s, then yes those are stop gap chips, but still amazing and plenty powerful. We all know the big leap should come with the M3 tho, so whoever that can wait, should indeed wait.
If they release an M2 12” MacBook less than 2lbs, I would purchase on day 1.
