Remember when Tim said there would be more Intel macs in the pipeline? It looks like that didn’t work out.

Yes agreed. I would have liked a refresh of the 2019 Mac Pro. I’m in a tricky spot now as I need more RAM than the studio can provide. I’d be crazy to buy a 2019 Mac Pro at this time.

NOICE. This would support the notion that the iPad versions of Logic and Final Cut didn't make WWDC because there wouldn't be time to include them.

True! Same with Apple announcing the accessibility IOS 17 features, they were clearing the deck it seems. A lot of hardware this year by the looks of it. WWDC 2017 was the last time they announced a lot of different Macs and had a keynote close to 3 hours long.

If it's going to be a long winded event, maybe I just choose what I want to listen to and then mute the rest. I know when they get into the Mac part of the event they can go long winded with the various graphics and hyping up the new chip and it feels like the stuff prior just got rushed through. Hopefully they start with Watch, TV, and IOS and then save the big stuff to the end so I can maybe get on with my day.

I think a lot of it will be spent on the new headset and its software. Maybe as a one more thing. It’s possible Mac’s first after software like iOS 17, iPadOS 17, MacOS and so on.

It's had a simmering build-up between fans here, but are we beginning to think this could be a HUGE event?

I think it will be a HUGE event, the headset will take up quite a bit of time. Software and if Gurman is correct, there will be ”several“ new Macs also announced. That’s a big event.

And yet, years ago we would have updates 2 a year sometimes. So your point is not related
Of course it is related.
Today you but the latest MBP for $3500.
Next year a new model comes out... a few months later, the refurbished version will be sold for less.
How much is your MBP going to be worth? Then two years ahead it will be worth a lot less, going to the 3rd year, maybe half of what you paid for it.
And to make it worse, the trade-in value Apple places on all previous generations is ridiculously low.

You misunderstood.
What I meant was that Apple in the past did 2 updates a year. Hence why we had early model and late model. There was still healthy market for second hand products. This will be the same. You are mixing two things at the same time. Apple was doing this before and it wasn't an issue so your argument about an issue is not correct. History already showed us

I haven't heard from this guy in years! He is former zealot in early years and his eyes Apple never does anything wrong! Their thread stuff is NOT working and screwing up and sending DNS request to iOS devices al the time expecting a reply flooding a network with DNS errors!! Besides by this point I believe we won't see a Pro at it but expect a chip m3 reports and then we talk a new Mac Pro!

WWDC has always been my favorite Apple event of them all. It’s especially interesting whenever Apple unveils new, cutting edge hardware in addition to the updated operating systems. Next week’s event should be quite entertaining. I can’t wait!

I do remember the Early/Late releases.
All I know is that in the past Macs used to maintain their value much longer than they do these days.
