I suppose they hired her for her personality, but the problem is she doesn't have much of a personality.
But at least you have your politically correct emoji, something tells me you're a big fan of those.
I do agree, Apple seems to have more money than sense these days. They need to put their money where it makes money. They seem to be all over the place.
No apps that I'm aware of, but she has launched her own product line(s?) before. I think that's the mentor angle they're aiming at. Self starting a business.
I'm pretty sure they knew that's what people would think of when they named it.

"Now guys, first thing you need to do is get into acting, then do some questionable things, then make a fortune from being in films. Now you have money to start your app business and have other people do all the work. That is the key to success. Be rich first, then start a business."
Everyone thinks that a celeb that launches products actually does work. Come on. Lets be real. She didn't do any heavy lifting and actually risk starving to start her businesses.
Maybe she'll serenade them during those late nights...and provide them with unlimited goop and some down-home cooking.

True. I wish I could remember the one thing I heard she / her company was selling. I remember at the time hearing the price tag and thinking to myself "even if I had the money, it wouldn't be spent on that."
I enjoy her films, but her business activity pushes a ton of pseudo-scientific claptrap and tries to sell outrageously priced goods that make her look astonishingly out of touch. I agree with others above who doubt how much she personally has to do with creating any Apps.
It's weird that Gwyneth Paltrow will be the embodiment of femininity to an entire audience that has never seen a girl before....
