I don't disagree, but remember the tapered iPhone hardware mockup last year?

Not saying it's likely, but it is possible this is not the design.

I remember that well, and I remember all we ever saw of that tear-drop design was the outside case. All the parts we saw leaked hinted to exactly what we got... the iPhone 4S.

This year, the leaked parts and this new taller phone tie together. I really think what we are seeing is very close if not exactly what we will see on stage with Tim Cook.

There's a possibility that this is the design. There is also the possibility that I'll be buying it. So there.

I've had each iteration of the iPhone and this will be the first that I will want to cover with a case. The duotone back is hideous. Very apparent that this design is post-Jobs. He would NEVER approve an aesthetic like that.

This has to be a deliberate leak by Apple. No way this video gets out otherwise. Even though I like the design they're showing here, this has to be a fake or different version leaked by Apple to throw competitors off.

Oh yeah and what about the old Ipad leaks and Iphone 4? They were all real?

Just accept this is the new Iphone. Don't like it don't buy it.

There were no leaked parts last year for "a tapered iPhone" it was renders and case manufacturers releasing cases. All of the leaked parts last year were for the 4S. People kept denying it saying that the iPhone 5 was being well guarded.

Fast forward to this year... part leaks... for taller iPhone. THIS IS THE iPhone that will be coming out!

I like the color scheme and back material, the only thing I can't stand is that the back camera isn't aligned within the upper black band.

It looks like the black bands are aligned with the seams in the external antenna. They probably couldn't move the seams without losing signal quality for technical reasons.

Looks like they went with function over form on that. I can't blame them after the iPhone 4 antennagate disproportionate fiasco.

Really? You knew him personally and spoke with him in detail about his design preferences and artistic tendencies did you?

I'm sorry to be a bit snarky, but all these "Steve would never have done this" comments are simply ridiculous!

So nobody finds it even remotely strange that we have had over a dozen of leaked parts, cases, complete phones, renders, .. coming from nowhere, not taken down by Apple. I'm not the conspiracy guy, but i'm finding this way too easy to believe.

This looks like a nice phone to me. I'm very curious to see what Apple will be releasing this fall.

I've been thinking along the same lines. Really hope Tim Cook walks on stage with this prototype, laughs and then throws it in a trash can before revealing the real deal! :)

That would be hilarious. I would get a big kick out of it if that's what he did.

However, I wouldn't bet even 100:1 odds of that happening.

Looks logical, with the natural evolution of a perfect design (a la Porsche 911)
but for the first time since the original iPhone, I think I'll skip this evolution and hang on to my 4S for another year.

I really hope this isn't it. It's too similar to the 4s and 4!

Why is that a bad thing?

I find it strange that people demand change for the sake of change in mobile, but not in the desktop. The iMac has seen few refinements since 2007, yet few complain. Even the new retina MBP differs quite minimally from previous unibody models in appearance. People find iOS "stale," but no nobody complains the same about OS X (which is admittedly a much more mature OS.)

I would not be surprised that Apple has decided it's arrived at the ideal form factor for the iPhone and iPad, and they change very minimally for the foreseeable future.

Yes I knew him personally. We use to drop acid together.

Of course not. Sigh. But as designer and "student" of Apple's design it is fair game to speculate (yes speculate sir) that he would not approve of this. This has COO turned CEO written all over it. Cook doesn't have vision. But damn right he's the guy to temporarily fill the shoes. Sadly if products keep looking like this Apple will lose some if their cache.

Buy these Parts

Anyone know if these parts, especially the body, are up for sale anywhere? Haha Thanks:apple:

Don't get me wrong it's design is okay. But it's looks very much as a iPhone 4/4s. After two years we do need a total change of design. Can't image that this is the final design. I just cannot believe that that is true. I'm also feeling sorry for that homebutton.

Yes. Because you knew Steve Jobs personally???

Also... many people said the same thing about the iPhone 4 prototype leak.

"OMG! Fake! Apple would never have seams in metal on the side. Look at the screws on the bottom. Apple would never use screws!"

Months later:

The whole "you knew him personally" retort is juvenile.

The pictures show a silver-colored band on the circumference of the phone. In the video it is dark black, why is that?

just the reflection caught in the photo...

To me, this phone looks awesome. But because the of two different materials on the back some photos exaggerate the difference in color. In the video, with a full range of angles, you see that the back in NOT actually two-tone in the full sense, and that it looks kinda nice.

I have a strong feeling that this will be a very popular design when it makes its way out into the world.

And since this threat is the same as 2 down:

Apple is stepping up security and I wonder: We have seen leaked parts for the next iPhone (buttons, back shell, front glass, and battery) and we didn't see anything of the iPad Mini. I wonder if that is just a deliberately spread rumor from apple to hurt the small form factor tablet sales like Kindle, Galaxy 7.1, and Nook. There is a reason Microsoft is going even bigger with over 10 inches. Apple does not seem to be the company with wide product diversification. Sure, there is a market for a smaller tablet, but I'm just not sure if that is really gonna happen. My guess would be that they replace the iPod touch with it. There is no real need for both. I mean, with the next iPhone, the iPhone 4 will take the place of the iPhone 3GS and without contract, it is $375, and the iPod Touch starts at $199. The difference in price is actually mostly win margin. Now, if Apple comes with a smaller iPad, it will eat from the iPod Touch and iPad market. I realy wonder if the iPod Touch would survive that in sales numbers.

Yea, the theats should be merged. :D
