Does anyone like the design of the original iPhone the best? Unfortunately, I never had a chance to get that iPhone.

I still have it, with my name engraved on the back though its dead now. It feels OK in the hand, the smooth aluminum at the back kinda makes it slippery. And it's heavy. But boy, was it a crowd puller.

It is the result of a unibody design that increases structural rigidity and allows the phone to be thinner.

Also to everyone saying this is just a stretched 4s, you are incredibly ignorant. The fact is, if many of the rumors are true, this could potentially be the biggest upgrade to the iPhone ever and some of you seem to be cherry picking these leaks for things to criticize. We are potentially looking at a fully upgraded external design with a larger screen, an incredibly thin design, unibody integration, and that's not even scratching the surface. On the inside I think we'll see an all new A6 chip with dramatic enhancements, 1gb of faster ram, a larger battery, 4g LTE, a new faster dock connector, and possibly a better FaceTime camera and NFC. HOW ARE SOME OF YOU STILL SAYING THIS ISN'T A BIG UPGRADE. IT'S CHANGING SOME OF THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL ELEMENTS OF THE IPHONE FOR THE BETTER. WHAT ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT?!?!!

You read my mind; I too am frustrated by ignorant fools. Their b****ing mounts like weight on one's back.

The camera does not have a 180 degree field of view; you're talking nonsense.

Find me a case where the cutout hole fits the camera lens perfectly. There are none, there is always a margin and the two tone line is too near to the camera to not be seen.

You know this how?
What do you mean how do I know this? From the video and previous picture about what's what on this fake mockup!

Edit: Think I know what you mean now, its just the line is ridiculously near the lens, from all the cases I've seen, there a small margin around the camera and that line is too near the lens to not be seen. This is not Apple design, I'll bet money on it.

It does feel like with that back plate they are going to their roots a little. And your right the phone was actually a little more noticeable and attractive. I mean I like glass but aluminum is apple's prime metal of choice. Always was.

Another reason it might have been slippery was due to the round nature of the phone. The iphone 4 is much easier to grip due to its rectangle form and edges.

I could just be in the minority but I actually really like this design. I think white would look sexy with that design. Though I'm sure I'm just an Apple fanboy and drink the Apple Kool-Aid because I like this design

There is no instance where any part of any chassis on an iPhone or any other smartphone, to my knowledge, has interfered with the image-capture field of the camera. By your reasoning, many people should be having a small amount of black or white on their photos with the current lineup. It's an absurd suggestion, and your attempt to defend it is even more absurd.

I find it interesting to see how many people are getting excited about this. I never really wanted a larger screen, and if I look at what the new iPhone has to offer in addition to that, it looks like just another iPhone to me. It still runs the same software (not counting the new ‘exclusive’ features) and will probably be used in pretty much the same way. When I upgraded my iPhone 3G to iPhone 4, the excitement went away after a day, when I realised that a newer iPhone is still an iPhone.

My iPhone 4 is still working incredibly well. I have no problems with it, I love using it. And it will save me a lot of money as well, if I think about how expensive and limited (e.g. data limit) the contracts have become over the last two years. I think I’m simply satisfied. ;-)
I also find it interesting to see how many people have differing opinions than yours.:p

When I upgraded from the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4, the excitement really didn't wear off. I finally had a phone with a camera that could take pictures I was actually proud to say I had taken. Every time I took a photo, I was reminded of how far cameraphone photography had come. Additionally, the phone was noticeably faster. Fifteen months later, i was envious of the further improved camera, the further improved speed, and the new features like Siri., but I held off because I knew the next model would have those features and some more, and I could upgrade to the iPhone "5" without any early upgrade penalties.

Just posted this at another thread, but it applies here as well.

I live and work in Asia. For the last months every mom and her dog had an iPhone - or so it seemed. But lately I have seen a tremendous shift towards Samsung. Even after being on the market for only a few weeks, the SG3 has become wildly popular here, just as the Galaxy Note. Even petite Asian girls don't appear to have problems handling a 4.8" - 5.3" device (ah, did that came out right? ) No, seriously, the phone market has changed. It is not about Smartphones vs. Dumbphones anymore. That ship has sailed. These days the music plays almost solely in the smartphone segment. And for that, I believe it is a huge mistake by Apple to just offer one size. And a size, whis is in the lucrative Smartphone Segment, relatively small. If Apple releases only a slightly taller phone, then I am afraid, Samsung will eat Apple's lunch.

After all, Apple offers 11", 13" and 15" laptops, too. Variety, choices, catering for consumers needs. But only one size phone - and that relatively small.

I also liked the switch from the 3g to the iphone 4. It was an unbelievable feeling when you held that phone with no case. It was like Steve said, a "leica camera".

On an unrelated note to the rumor, is there any case that improves the camera on an iPhone without a olioclip or extra lens? Like built into a case of some kind. I'm just looking to see if someone had an idea of what I'm looking for. Believe me I've researched.

I am absolutely sure we are not talking about the same thing now.

I was talking about when you look at the phone from the back and if you have a case on the phone, where the case will have a cutout hole so the camera is not covered. I'm talking about that hole and how you can see the line of the 2 tone back, its a design detail. I cannot believe Apple industrial designers overlooking that small detail.

I don't get it. So that's not the actual iphone 5 design? The purpose of the dummy shell design was to compare the size of iphone 5 and iphone4/4s?

The reasoning for the phone having one size is one of the factors making the appstore so powerful, keeping specs constant allows the devs to focus more into the quality of their app and no so much worrying about the compatibility

Its just hype, like the iPhone hype, that's why these people you've met bought iPhones in the first place. Why else did they buy it? Why didn't they demand this or that and refuse to buy iPhones in the first place. Its hype.

IOS is becoming a giant mess also - regular 4/4S phones in one resolution - the iPad in another. A future 7" iPad, the iPhone 4Stretch, The Nano and maybe AppleTV... different resolutions and with different specs.

Just hype?

Don't you think maybe... just maybe... people actually enjoy using the iPhone, iOS and all its apps?

Yet you are the one with back problems...

Oh, the weight....!

:)

And you take a whimsical metaphor seriously; oh, to be you. There is no greater prison.

Because other mobile OS' don't have anything like that problem. What's the bubble like in which you live?

Furthermore, the Nano doesn't run iOS in the same sense as other devices (it's a completely closed environment with no app store), the 8" iPad will probably be a doubling of the iPhone's Retina display resolution, and who knows what the TV's going to be like (it'll probably be along the lines of the framework they have for the Nano). So in terms of radically different resolutions, Apple has three distinct ratios they need to worry about for their fully-fledged mobile OS: (480x320)*1/2/4, (1024x768)*1/2 and 1136x640. How will they compete against the unified framework that Anrdoid provides?

Oooooooooooooh, right, np. Even then, make a slightly dis-proportionate hole for said case?
