Obviously this isn't a major product, but could this be the worst idea for a product Apple has had in decades? I would never put my cards in this thing.
Somewhere around as bad as the iPhone 5C cases and the iPod shuffle with no buttons.

Disclaimer, I dont own one, so this is purely speculation.

1) I would loose this in less than 24 hours
2) I will bet you anything that apple pay wont work with the interference for 3 other credit cards so close
3) The whole idea of wireless charging (for me) is that i can just lay it down at my work station not so with this wallet on.

If i could manage with only 3 credit card i would still considder this to replace my normal creditcard holder wallet - why you might ask ?

well i would not try and stick it to my phone normally, i would just use it as a normal nice looking leather wallet

When would i use the magnets:
1) when going through security in airports i would mount to have less things scattered.
2) when emptying my pockets after work, I would mount it to not misplace my wallet ever again
3) basically every time i would normally empty my pockets and leave phone and wallet somewhere.

So the real use case is not (for me) what was intended, perhaps the strict uppersit - and there is no way i can have a card holder with only 3 cards (Drivers License, CreditCard, Social Security card (yes we have that in EU) - and that would be it - I would TRULY love if I did not have to have a credit card sized card for :
1) car rental
2) international healthcare
3) BusCard
4) Norwegian flight / Bank Creditcard
5) Consumer Creditcard native to Denmark, special offers.

In a perfect world all cards was in one slightly thicker card, and you could somehow select what card you wanted to use, or wait.. even on your phone.. it could be called something like "Apple Pay" .... or hmm "Apple All of your cards, including drivers licenses"

I will await the future !

A fail for you since you won’t be buying, as you don’t like the offering. It is a score for millions of other people.
I Just don't see this. What is the use case for the "millions of others"?

I have a small wallet just like the mag one, but holds a few more cards that I keep in the same pocket as my phone. It works just fine without the MagSafe. And, I don't have to worry about it being pulled out of my pocket when I remove my phone. Not having an unreliable MagSafe wallet has the following benefits:

  • I get more cards.
  • Better reliability. Don't have to worry whether the MagSafe wallet came out or not. My non-MagSafe wallet does not come out unless I retrieve it specifically. It sits lower in my pocket than my phone.
  • Don't have to worry if the MagSafe wallet was hanging by a thread when I pull my phone out and then drops on the ground.
  • Don't have to worry about putting my phone back without dropping my MagSafe wallet.
  • 100% of the time I want my wallet or phone, but I have never wanted both unless I am emptying my pockets to change pants. Without MagSafe I just reach in high or low depending on what I want.
  • My non-MagSafe wallet cost a lot less than the MagSafe one.
  • I always put the screen side out so the back side rests against my leg to make sure I don't mis the vibration when on silent. That means my non-MagSafe wallet goes in front of the screen for the same reason.
This seems to be me to just be another gimmick to sell to Apple fanatics that don't think before they buy.

I can't imagine Apple is unaware of these problems. If I were to guess, I'd say that Apple's plans to migrate to cordless-only charging ran into the hypothetical objection from users who like iPhone cases with built-in card holders. And the magnetic wallet is their answer to that objection—flawed though that answer may be.

It's like no one at Apple says "this sucks" or "this is crap" and that's how we end up with these wallets and keyboards that fail when dust gets in it or Pro products that hasn't even had a professional give any input into it.

Everything with Cook is just "Idea 5" or "Idea 12" with the selection criteria of what can we pawn off on our ignorant users that we did not sell last year so we can look hip and in touch this year.

My thoughts exactly. They couldn’t make the phone’s magnet any stronger because it would be (more of) a hassle to get your puck charger off. They should have just let the problem come up before presenting a solution, but like the flawed design of the folio case, it matters not since so few people buy anything other then a regular case anyway.

Absolutely NO WAY would I buy one of these, for numerous reasons.
4. At that price I can buy four magnetic wallets (see below)
But it looks like literal trash.

Well, its quite easy to have more than 3 cards nowdays. Personal ID + Driver's license + Amex + Second debit card + medicate card (in most countries you will have two, one for public health service, and one for private insurance), + employee card + put 2 randome cards for accessing the gim, student ID or other similar that are not integrated in Apple Wallet. You end up with 5-9 cards quite easy. In a perfect world, every single card can be stored in Apple Wallet, the app is 100% reliable and always functionaning and the iPhone always has sufficiente battery to use the app. But this is not a perfect world. I dont care that Apple wants to enter in the wallets business, but they should do it properly.
Why do you have a “Personal ID” card that isn’t your driver’s licence?

Apple Wallet has both my bank cards (one is Visa, other is MasterCard). If my iPhone is low on battery, my Watch can be used.

I don’t have Amex, an no longer a student (most people aren’t), and if I had to go to the gym, I have a few options: bring the card alone, keep it in the car, dust off my wallet, or swap my employee ID/swipe card out for the gym card.

Never said it was for everyone, but this world you live in has been hypothetical to me so far.

I have worried about power outages or either Visa or Mastercard system being down (it has happened before a few years ago), but then they’d also have trouble with charging me other than via cash, and the risk of that is very low. Also, having both a Visa and MC is reassuring.

... and then your iPhone breaks, or just the battery dies and suddenly you're stranded with no access to your funds. We can all dream of such a wonderful future.

I hope they integrate your car keys too. Then you can be stranded with no money and no access to your car. Maybe someday.
It’s called a car charger.

only time I would use this is to put my phone on the table while eating alone. Yay no more napkins and wobbly phone.

What is European leather? Is it from European cows? Is it made in Europe? Is it just made by Europeans? Is it a wallet just for Europeans?

I need answers...

They don’t use barbed wire fences which cows rub up against and can cause damage to their skin/the leather including unnatural scratches/marks/divots.

Look, I love Apple...but this was just a poorly planned idea.

Putting credit/debit cards in this thing and having a magnet rely on it's safety would just bring me unneeded extreme anxiety.

The thought of me pulling out my phone from my jeans, jacket pocket - which I do a LOT especially in the store - with the wallet not there (it came off and in my pocket, or God forbid fell on the ground somewhere), my heart would stop-skip over and over.

*Well...this is when my Apple Watch would come in handy, I can check my heart rate as it skyrockets to 200+ bpm, EKG looks more like doodle from a 2 year old. 🙄

But it is magnetic. I fear for the people that think this is a 'perfect' solution. It's a solution if you keep your iphone in a purse, or other bag. It's not for people that keep their iPhone in their back pocket, or ANY pocket. I remember hearing someone complaining about those 'popit' things coming off of their iPhone. Well, DUH! It's only cheap adhesive. It's not like it's welded on to the iPhone.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I'm just waiting for the people complaining about the magnetic cases not protecting their iPhones on the second bounce. You know they are coming... Want full time protection, get a full time case! Want a 'wallet'? Buy a real wallet! (You should be using Apple Pay anyway, am I right? Who needs cards?)

I refuse to buy Girl Scout Cookies because they aren't made with real Girl Scouts! Too funny, and appropriate for a couple of days from Halloween...🤪

I can only dream of a future where all businesses support Apple Pay and where you can have an ID on your phone and avoid carrying any wallets all together. Maybe someday.
Then go to China! That’s how everything works over there! You don’t even have to use any card or cash or wallet, everything is on the phone, even your ID cards.

This product isn't for everyone. I can see some good uses for it as I don't always keep my phone in my pocket and I do carry it around or have it sitting in my car or even in my bag. But having the magnets means if its going into your pocket you can just pop off the wallet and have it in your other pants pocket.

The magnets will not be super strong as they want accessories to be able to be put on the phone and removed easily. Of course if you put the phone into your pocket and have the wallet facing out its going to hit the front of your pocket and push off.

Is this thing worth $80 (CDN) no way...just like their cases, over priced but Im sure they will make lots of money with these accessories now.

I've ordered mine and still waiting for them to ship it. It's perfect for me. I've used a Cardninja wallet which is basically just a sticky version of this. I'm currently using 3 slots ID card as my wallet. I have my DL, a credit card, and a Costco card. I can get rid of my Costco card since they now accept Costco App for entrance and ApplePay for payment. So really, I just need two slots for everything.
I can't wait to get a new car that accepts smartphone as a key (Tesla and BMW). I'll then be carrying only a smartphone and a small wallet that sticks to my smartphone.

...if you have used a Card Ninja then why in the world would you swap to Apple's Magsafe Wallet?????!?

The Ninja sticks to your phone (it doesn't come off when you insert into pockets) AND holds way more cards and actually looks smaller and slimmer than the Magsafe Wallet...??!?!?
