It doesn't really matter if Apple made the magnets stronger you'd still have the same issue if you slide it into your pocket that way. You can't change physics!

The fact it has a cutout on the back suggests Apple made it this way on purpose so it's relatively easy to remove from the back of your device so you can slide out a cards because otherwise it would be really difficult to try and get any cards out from the top of the wallet

I really don't see much of an issue with this.

I can only dream of a future where all businesses support Apple Pay and where you can have an ID on your phone and avoid carrying any wallets all together. Maybe someday.
Yes!

I’ve thought about this 5 years ago or so!

I want License, Insurance, and Registration all on the phone so that it can all easily be digitally pinged to officers when people get pulled over. And then when you pay your DMV registration and car insurance online, it automatically updates the “paperwork”. No more having to search for or file more pieces of paper inside your glove box.

Only use I can see for it is for someone trying to look slick and use it for business cards.

Personally I think the whole MagSafe is a complete fail I bought the charger unit only had it for five days and returned it to Apple for a refund as it took to long to charge the phone and the phone got that hot that you couldn’t pick it up so with the 20W charger iPhone 12 pro charges in about 30 minutes from flat but this leather thing with your credit cards or drivers license Apple has just put in the hands hundreds of credit cards and licenses for scammers that end up picking up them off the ground because that’s where they will spend most of the time who ever thought this idea up needs a job change because they weren’t thinking when that happened and who approved it wants to be sacked.
It’s the “MagSafe Gate” I think this will be off the market soon Plus who wants to pay more for a little tiny leather holder of a credit card than what you pay for a case just Apple profiteering.

"You're inserting it wrong" then this is where able starts shipping rubberbands to help secure the wallet on there to avoid a class action suit.

Alongside the MagSafe cases and the MagSafe Charger that Apple introduced with the iPhone 12, there's also a Leather Wallet that has magnets at the back so it can attach right to an iPhone as an add-on accessory. Leather Wallets became available for purchase over the weekend, so we picked one up to see if it's a worthwhile alternative to a traditional wallet.

Design wise, the $59 iPhone Leather Wallet comes in a soft European leather that's available in Baltic Blue, California Poppy (a deep yellow color with a bit of orange), Saddle Brown, and Black. It's lightweight, compact, and minimal, and it looks great on the back of an iPhone.

You can fit somewhere around two to three cards in the Leather Wallet, and it's best not to attempt to add in more because leather is known for stretching and wearing. At the back of the Leather Wallet, there's a little cutout for the thumb that's meant to make it simple to slide a card out, but it takes some time to master the gesture due to the fit of the cards inside.

A three card capacity may work for some people, but for those who have multiple credit cards plus a driver's license or ID, the Leather Wallet might not be ideal. The Leather Wallet can attach directly to an iPhone 12 or to a MagSafe case, and it displays a little animation on the iPhone's screen to let you know when it's connected.

When it comes to magnet strength, the magnet in the Leather Wallet is strong enough to adhere to the case and remain in place when shaking the iPhone vigorously, but we're skeptical that it's going to stay in place during routine daily use.

If you tap the Leather Wallet a few times, it pops right off, but the biggest issue is how it interacts with pockets. When tucking the iPhone with Leather Wallet into a pocket, care needs to be used. If you don't align it right, there's a chance the iPhone could go in the pocket while the Wallet slides right off, and the same goes for taking it out.

The magnetic connection isn't strong enough to adhere the Leather Wallet solidly to the iPhone when the force of a pocket is involved, and if you're not careful, you could have a mishap where the Wallet comes off during regular use. Your cards are going to be more secure if you're not planning to pocket your iPhone, but if you do plan to get the Leather Wallet and use it as normal, grip the wallet and the phone tightly when inserting and removing it from pockets to make sure the Wallet doesn't detach accidentally.

Those who have more than three cards that are carried regularly or those who want the freedom to use a wallet without having to be concerned about attachment issues should probably opt out of the Leather Wallet, but it has the potential to be a useful accessory for those who are careful and those who prefer a minimal look and wallet experience.

Perhaps besides the visual indicator that you've attached the wallet there needs to be an audible/tactile signal when it's detached.

Despite it's overuse, I can't think of any product more deserving of "this would've never happened under Steve Jobs"
Nah this wallet is useful, it's the magnet that is too soft.

I still think the :apple: iphone 5C case with holes is the worst accessory of all time.

Maybe it's more useful for purses, handbags, backpacks etc.? Still, I don't know how this got past testing.

Personally I don’t think it would be much of an issue for me.

I never put my phone in my pocket like the videos thumbnail pic. It’s always camera first with my hand gripping the bottom and my index finger sliding into the pocket. I look forward to trying it out!

The iPhone dents and breaks aside, That’s a legitimate driving hazard. The product needs to be recalled if that’s what happens on bumps.
I didn’t even think about the danger to someone. I was more worried that my phone would be beat up, but luckily the case protected it. I won’t trust the magnets to hold the phone again.

I love the idea. It's a casual accessory for those who desire to be minimalistic. I personally would use something like this. I can see carrying my driver license, credit card, and ATM/debit card. My only concern–and it's a concern for all MagSafe products–is if it will be strong enough. Most times I will be aware of it and feel for it, but in those rare moments I may get distracted I want to know the Magsafe has got my back and I will not lose my accessories or my phone fall if it's attached to something holding it.

I’ll be getting a 12 mini and this wallet still seems extremely appealing. Watching all the videos of people “failing” has made me laugh.

Phone and wallet in hand, arm at reading level. Lock phone, drop arm. Use tip of fingers to open edge of jeans pocket, release phone. Both device and wallet should just fall right in. I feel pretty silly writing that out, but hopefully less silly than the “YouTubers” struggling to use their pants.

I’d never feel safe with my cards in that wallet. I’d always be afraid of the wallet coming loose and losing it. They should have just made a separate case with the wallet built in.

welcome to China 2018

Even beggars in the country uses smart phone and QR code to get “donations“

if you goto China and try to use physical cash or credit card, everyone looks at you funny.

Am I the only one that carries my phone in my back pocket? I've seen so many review videos of guys putting theirs in their front pocket and struggling for the wallet to stay on. I can't help to think it would work better in the back pocket as they're usually not as tight as a front pocket. Maybe I'm just a weird back pocket person though.
