My own experience says otherwise.
Magnets are strong. I didn’t have any concerns about it falling off even when I shake it.

No issues putting it in and taking it out of my pocket. I usually wear board shorts or gym shorts most of the time. Tried it on the work pants and no issues with the wallet detaching either.

If you’re wearing skinny jeans with tight narrow pockets, the edges of the pockets will push the wallet off and I doubt any magnets will stay on.

My OCD is troubling me with this video.... I‘ve always put my iPhone in to my trouser pocket with the screen facing towards the front, my logic being I don’t want to risk the screen getting scratched by anything lurking in my pockets when I sit down or whatever.

It's uselessness aside, it seems so backwards - even five years ago! - to release a wallet for... a phone.

Right now, I genuinely have no idea where my wallet is because who on earth is using their cards when they have a phone with an NFC chip that supports contactless payment in 2020 in the western hemisphere.

Step 1: Create product you didn't need to replace your perfectly functioning wallet; with a defective version
Step 2: Create product [airtags] to place on your defective wallet which will now get lost
Step 3: Create service to track your lost wallet
Step 4: Profit!

Great job apple. You have reinvented the wheel!!!

Why wouldn't you turn your iPhone around the other way? With the wallet toward your body? I still won't be getting this but just wondering.
Can't believe this has to be explained: because having the screen face outward outward exposes it ever knock/collision - e.g. imagine you hitting the corner of a table with your leg and the screen right there, front and center.

Best thing about this video is the dig at Apple hoping for Airtags to help find the wallet that Apple's design lost.

My experience exactly. I’ve had the wallet for two days straight while I’ve been out and about... I’ve been taking the iPhone out of my pocket regularly and it hasn’t detached at all. I love it.
But this kind of review doesn’t get clicks and wouldn’t be considered honest. It seems the only reviews considered good around here are negative ones.

Apple is pushing this cause there is little to differentiate the 12pro from the 11pro
Nah, the 12 will sell like hot cakes as it has a new look. Anyone w an 11 or older will look like they have an out of date phone. The features are like every new model these days - minor improvements.

Hey Dan, Good job with the sleight of hand! I saw the wallet drop, and it then it suddenly appeared in the other hand. How did you do it?

I tried a car phone holder this weekend with an iPhone 12 Pro and my phone went flying when we went over a bump in the road. Magsafe is way too weak to be useful.
They had to keep it weak so it doesn't interfere with pacemakers.

The whole iphone release this year is a fail imo
o the 12 pro isnt that impressive
o the sizes are stupid (i didnt want to go smaller and I didnt want to go bigger).
o the camera in low light still sucks (it really does)
o the video camera stutters because that night mode garbage is on by default
o the magsafe is stupid because the magnets arent strong enough
o no leather case on release day (i mean REALLY??)
o the scrolling in some apps on ios14 still stutters (its like fix this... is this android or iphone)
o paying $62 for magsafe plus adapter is BAT S%#T CRAZY
and on and on....

Too bad all the reviewers only want to kiss Apples butt and not do honest reviews.
I think you're expecting a bit too much. It's version 12 of a mature product, there's only ever going to be incremental improvements with each release.

Any phone camera in low light will always suck, as to make it not suck it has to be massively physically bigger. However the night mode software is quite impressive at making the most of the tiny lens and sensor. Anyone wanting a good low light camera has a DLSR.

Most of the other stuff you're just having a petty whinge. Go buy an Android if you prefer them, no one cares.

I can only dream of a future where all businesses support Apple Pay and where you can have an ID on your phone and avoid carrying any wallets all together. Maybe someday.
In Australia, I’ve been wallet-free for a few years. I have Apple Pay on my watch & phone, but I prefer my Halo NFC payment ring from Bankwest. I have a scan of my drivers license in iCloud that has been accepted 100% of the time, even car-hire companies.

Thanks to Covid, almost every store & vendor accepts my payment ring.
I bought a Schlage Smart door lock. The only key I carry is my car key, which doesn’t leave my pocket.

I keep a spare bank card in my glovebox for emergencies which I used once at a hotel.

I love it.

Get a Tesla Model 3/Y and you could get rid of that too.

It's a fail in my eyes:

1) Too weak of a connection to hold onto anything with confidence (wallet attachment or any accessory for the phone)

2) Too strong to work as an actual MagSafe (if you trip over the cable you're bringing your phone down with you unlike MagSafe on Mac).

At most it's useful for fancier/easier car mounting but I've yet to see any real world testing on that. Besides, it's a nice to have at most especially considering CarPlay is supposed to remove the need for car mounting in the first place.

Last but not least it opens the door for a port-less iPhone which is a major no go for me, I always want to have the option to plug things into my phone such as wired headphones, charging cables, computers and any other accessories. Try to convince me Apple is doing this for any reason other than making jailbreaking harder. I'm not a jailbreaker myself but it's important people have the power to use their hardware in any way they want. MagSafe represents yet another "innovation" from Apple that is actually just prepping a new anti-consumer position they'll take up soon enough... let's not even mention how difficult they're making 3rd party repairs. Complete and utter bollocks.

Why can't you use one or two fingers to widen the pocket before you insert it. That's how I put anything in my pocket and I don't wear jeans that tight.

Products should be designed around people, not the other way around. Asking people to fiddle with their pockets is the equivalent of "you're holding it wrong." I don't wear tight jeans but even I'd be afraid of my credit cards and ID falling off just because I accidentally knocked it when putting it in my pocket. If I have to introduce anxiety to an otherwise mundane activity (putting my phone in my pocket) it's a fail.

I might be the only person really stoked about magsafe. I've ALWAYS had issues with charger corrosion or w/e. The ends turns weird colors, the cables fray... I hate, so much -- everything about a cable that goes into a phone to charge it. I'm in a weird niche of people that would like to be able to charge my phone in bed with a wireless charger and still use it before sleep. I like the idea of the magnets holding the charger onto the phone while I use it, circumventing the port.

My freaking gripe is with Apple changing all of the cables to USB-C and only sending the bricks out with iPads. I had to spend $160 the other day on just power bricks to get a new stock of ones that work with all the cables I have laying around now. So lame. Apple couldn't wait a year or two after switching the cables over to deprecate the old bricks?
