If I was a shareholder then I'd be worried after seeing that keynote.

IMO the Kindle Fire and New Nexus and the many Win8 tablets will make the mini sales very limited. Also I dont see the 13" rMBP taking off. Same thing that happened to them in the 90's with high prices and limited choice. They are too big to go out or anything like that, but Apple's odd way of business won't work without Jobs IMO.

Well, I'm sure I'll be attacked for this, but I'm gonna say it anyway:

Tiny harddrive, barely enough RAM (and not upgradable to the "enough" level), no dedicated graphics, only dual-core processors. It certainly isn't bad, but Apple just took the "pro" out of the 13" line. And come on - it's freaking expensive. If you upgrade the SSD to 512gb and get an i7 (still dual-core - WTF?) processor, it's only 99$ cheaper than the mid-level 15" rMBP, which packs a heck of a lot more power. What gives???

the 13" is NOT a pro device in my opinion. It's more like a beefed-up and slightly heavier Macbook Air. For that, it just costs way too much.

Yep, the small hard drive is the first thing I noticed. I think I'll definitely stick with my plan to get a 15inch cMBP.

The price point seems about just run. Maybe if it was about 100 dollars cheaper. If you add quad core, graphics card and double the ssd space, it would probably add up to be close to what a default 15 inch would cost. So I can't complain about the pricing.

Surprised that there isn't a 16GB RAM option.

Everything else is as I expected.

Doesn't make it an easy choice, was leaning towards the 13" rMBP before.

I am a share holder and I'm not worried.

After every keynote, the people here moan about how Apple sucks, their products are under spec'd, the technology they using is old, etc.

But then the following quarter, we get the numbers and find out that Apple had another record earnings.

Seeing Apple stock drop, really doesn't mean much to me (but then again I bought before the split at $14 a share). I remember a decade ago when Steve Jobs blasted Wall Street speculators for causing Apple's stock to drop, even after they reported decent earnings.

At the current heat efficiency of processors and GPUs, it's pretty damn impossible to have any of those in a 13" shell than thin, you just wouldn't be able to cool it down.

yes, I'm shocked too. Dual core processors as well. I don't think this will be the succes that either the 15" rMBP or the 13" cMBP were.

Without 16GB RAM I wouldn't even consider it. The RAM amount is a permanent decision so you gotta go all the way here, and in this case all the way isn't enough for future proofing.

Don't know - but it's thicker than the 15" rMBP.

any word on display manufacturer? LG only or will there be some Sammy screens as well?

If the rumors are true, Apple won't be buying Samsung displays anymore in the future - so I doubt the 13" is going to come with Samsung screens.

Don't see how that's a problem, though - while some LG screens have IR issues (mine doesn't - it's perfect), the Sammys have the "white blotch" problem and color tints.

when Apple decided to drop the 17" MBP - after 20 years a Mac owner - I'm done.

I fall under the category of those who actually earn a living from their computer - so updates, and upgrades for surfing and social media no longer cover the day for me - so long !

They should add this sticker next to the keyboard:

WARNING!

Intel HD Graphics Inside. Avoid scrolling, zooming, dragging windows and other graphically intensive activities.

I have a 2011 MBP with Intel HD 3000 and I have no problems playing Black Ops, Rage and a slew of other graphic intensive programs. As for scrolling.. what?! Dragging windows is a non issue. What's your problem? Do you expect portable device graphics to do more than that?

Just like the predictions 2 1/2 years ago that Apple wouldn't sell many iPads named after a female hygiene product.

Give me a break.

I love the new configuration of the MacBook Pro. It will make a good replacement for my wife's 2008 MacBook.

I was going to sell my 13" MBP (16gb 1600Mhz ram and 256 SSD, but this (aside from the screen and weight) isn't much of an upgrade. I'm certainly not going to attack you for your statement... unless benchmarks are incredibly high and we're all wrong about performance.

That's true - they're still selling like hotcakes. But so are the Android tablets and so will the Surface RTs. For the foreseeable future, the tablet market is going to grow substantially. While that's happening, I'm guessing all manufacturers will be making good money. One can't overlook, however, that the iPad's marketshare has slipped drastically over the last year (from almost 80% to 52%). The main reason for that being the low prices of the Android tabs. While I'm certain they'll sell tons of iPad minis, I somewhat doubt Apple will be able to to outperform the competitors with this price tag.

I did put "IMO" twice in that comment. Take some pills and alcohol and feel better. One random post on the internet shouldn't make you say "give me a break" lol

Knowing Apple's market they probably could price this at 2999 and still sell out, and price the mini at 350 and still sell out. I rather it goes the other way and they hit a wall, and in turn they would have to be more competitive on specs and prices to get sales.
