If you're buying a new phone right now, this one is clearly the one to buy if you have the cash. The Plus phones are just superior. They're super comfortable to read text and awesome for watching videos. If you've been using any Plus version then the X will be too small. The XS is like a longer 6 and the Max is exactly a slightly wider, by a fraction of a mm, bezel less Plus.

Completely disagree. Unless you are a big gamer or habitually watch films on your phone or some other specialized reason, it’s pretty silly to get these oversized phones. XS has more screen than my 6S+ did and I absolutely do not miss holding that brick to my ear or carry it in my pants. Glad to have something with a big screen that is closer to the original one-hand design Jobs intended. I have large hands and can’t imagine how uncomfortable that plus is to use for someone that doesn’t.

For anything 16:9, the Xs is much, much smaller than the 6s+. Even just YouTube videos will look much smaller on the Xs.

The XS, XS Max, & XR are ALL using the Samsung 3-stack ISOCell Fast 2L3 image sensor for their Back Wide-Angle Camera.

Same as what Samsung uses in their Galaxy S9 & S9+.

Does anyone know if this is the first time AAPL has decided to use the same image sensor that Samsung chose ??? ... referring to previous versions of the Galaxy & iPhone, of course.

ISOCell + Dual Pixel + 256 MB of DRAM makes it quite the Gem of an image sensor !

Too bad AAPL decided NOT to use it for the Telephoto Camera on the XS & XS Max :(

iPhone XS just passed 5 C-Net drop tests without cracking!! Amazing. Finally these screen repair places can go pound salt!

My friend got his XS Max on launch day, I played around with it after setting it up for him. I must say I was impressed and I'm beginning to lean towards the Max.

The Xs Max takes ages to charge. Apple should definitely have included a fast charger in the box.
You should have lined up at an Apple Store. They were giving away free power banks.

Feels a lot like mobile device design has seriously plateaued. Now the remaining model sizes have gone "full screen" which was the last big thing Apple had left to do, be interesting to see where the iPhone goes over the next couple of years. I suspect just having an even speedier CPU and slightly better camera is not going to cut it. Not at this now astronomic price bracket.

Others are talking about foldable devices but I am not convinced that will work out as well as I hope they will. AR, not convinced by that either.

Guess it explains why the watch is seeing greater development steps being taken and the big shift to services too.
You will be surprised what’s ahead of us in terms of technology. In ten years the iPhone will be a thin metal slice just round enough not to cut you with actual borderless screens. Possibly on both sides.

My Max doesn't seem to like my router on its 5 GHz band. When I first connected to set up the phone, it said "no internet connection" and eventually worked itself out. I saw the same issue later today. Every other device was fine on the network. Anyone else experienced this so far?

I find it hilarious that even this latest gen, Watch included, still ship with USB and not TypeC. You open it up and you can’t connect it to your MacBook. Awesome. I chuckled when the Apple tech asked me to connect it to iTunes. “Um. I can’t.”

A phablet doesn’t mean it’s superior. Both phones have the exact same specs.

She thought it was stupid because of the price. I reminded her that I am on the upgrade program, which breaks it into payments. I think she is also upset that I won’t be giving her my X as I am trading it in. I told her she could make the payments on the X if she wants it. But she wants me to make the payments. I don’t want to do that. She isn’t working, she takes care of our 91 year old mom.

Im really confused by something.. when my Xs Max arrives, i have to mail the X back to Apple in the box they are sending me. They said if i dont mail it back, i can keep it and continue with the payments. so my confusion... the X would have the same number of payments remaining that it currently does (about half)... and the new Xs Max has 24? And if i mail the X back... the new phone have 24 payments still regardless...? I assume that is the case... so essentially my decision is to buy the old X for roughly $600 (remaining payments). That doesnt seem a good idea, since can order a Xr for not much more...

New phone same problems. I got the Xs Max coming from the 7plus my work uses apps that are not on android yet so I took the plunge to get the new phone because my screen was cracked and for every 1 thing it does right it does 3 things stupid.

The Max feels like the perfect size the screen is big and it feels great in the hands but it doesn’t do much. A lot of apps have dead space and the DPI is really low so things are huge when I would have preferred better scaling for more screen real estate .

2. it’s a bigger phone but why is there no picture in picture or better multi tasking? The keyboard is still garbage . A full inch of dead space below the keyboard and no number row is just stupid the keyboard so so far behind any android phone it’s just hard to use. Why can’t it have the awesome iPad Pro keyboard with the flick keys???

3. Apple is still cheap ass apple. No headphone dongle the phone takes 3.5 a4 hours to charge it’s baffling a $1300 phone doesn’t come with fast charging but my $300 essential phone does .... seriously this is just pathetic apple ..

I’m returning the phone and I will buy a cheap 7 or a 8 nothing about this phone is worth $1300 but I always wanted to try it for myself and not let others determine how I feel about a product but all the negative marks on this phone are true and it’s just hard to deal with apple sits there and talks this big game and make a big deal about their products but honestly Android has stepped their game up so far both in hardware and software the days of apples “consistency” in this new regime are flawed and ridiculous

There was a focus on that during the keynote. The stereo sound stage increased and volume as well.

I’ll be clearer. Yes, mentioned by Apple and reviewers.

But not that much of an emphasis. I mean, they are really good. REALLY good. If I’m alone, no headphones needed.

I couldn’t say that with the 7 Plus, 8 Plus or X, which I’ve owned at one point and represent all devices released with “stereo speakers” as marketable features.

They get better every year.
