I have 15 inch mba at home too (m3) almost same weight, the mbp is not a lot more expensive if we compare the 15 inch model with 512gb against the m4 base mbp and come on the keyboard is not more comfortable to use than the MacBook Pro...
There is a little gap between the keys on the MBA. I find that more comfortable to use.

Well, in that case, switch to Windows so you will have more to be angry about. 🤣 🤪🤣🤪

Seriously though, all vendors have dozens of propeller heads doing what they think is best. And that best will annoy some, make others joyous. I switch between Windows, MacOS and IOS daily. There are things about each that I like and things I hate. So at some point I am always angry.
No I will die if I switch to windows…

Mac Studio is the best computer, it has better specs therefore it’s better.
Ok but we are talking about laptops… the title says the best laptop is the MacBook Air and I am saying no it’s the MacBook Pro… you cannot say the Mac Studio is the best laptop.

This critical usage will kill your iPad : what if you need macOS while you are travelling?
I don’t/won’t. When I’m traveling I am disconnected from work and anything that would require more than a tablet or phone. And really I can’t envision what anyone would need something like that besides having a job that requires travel.

My wife just ordered a 15 inch Sky Blue MacBook Air with 24GB of RAM and 2TB SSD. She wants it to last at least 5 years. It replaces a 2020 Intel 13 inch MBP, which is still going strong, but does not support the newer technologies.

Yes, each has a good niche for doing various things. For me though I'd prefer to just go with a single device that manages the best of both worlds. The iPad or the mac mini may excel over a MacBook for some things but not enough for me to warrant two different devices. Currently my m2 MacBook air makes a fine laptop and desktop machine. I might consider a MacBook pro instead someday (maybe after the M6 comes out) to be a bit better for software design work.
I definitely get that. But for me a 15/16 inch screen doesn’t work as well as a 27 or 32 inch. And isn’t nearly as portable as an 11 inch screen.

yep. That's why I tend to prefer a smaller screen laptop knowing well that I can dock it to my desktop setup with a single wire. lightweight and small for carrying around then big screen and mechanical keyboard when doing some serious work. But all this talk by many here about what's the best is of course just silliness as there are as many use cases as there are people.

Just because the title says MacBook, doesn’t mean you automatically are. You claimed it was “the best computer”. You also claim better specs make it a better computer. The part of the quote you were replying to didn’t even specify MacBook, it just said Mac, it also recommended the Mac Mini as an alternative.

The article doesn’t claim it’s the best laptop, you’re being disingenuous and only quoting half the sentence, it’s the best Mac for the masses. The best mac is the one that meets the persons needs for the best price. A Bugatti Veyron has better “specs” than a Prius but it doesn’t mean a Veyron is a better car for the average person does it?

Very nice! If my M1 is anything to go by, that will still be a great computer in 5 years' time.

The M3 and M4 have not been impressive leaps.
M3 and M4 had GREAT year-over-year performance boosts – I think some of the best we've ever seen in the industry. M1 is still plenty for many people, but it is nowhere near the M4's performance at this point.

Am I the only one who prefers the tapered design that went away with the M2 models? I think these MacBook Air are absolutely wonderful, but I did prefer the old design.
I actually didn't like the tapered design at all, I far prefer the existing design. But to each his own...

Sorry MacBook Pro is the best laptop… 🙈 ❌

LOL! 😅

Not if one wants the smallest Mac laptop; the lightest one; the least dense one; the quietest one; the lowest-cost one; or one without PWM! Or, if one has no use for the extra ports or wants a Windows-based laptop!🥸

Sorry, but the MacBook Pro is NOT, categorically or universally, the best laptop. ✅ 💯

Sweeping generalizations are almost always wrong!

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure any one that is saying anything in a universal, unqualified way is either joking and/or just trying to get a rise out of others.

Dude, give it a rest already! I’m glad it’s the “best” for you, but it’s not the best for everyone. Stop trying to justify your purchase.
Dude, I said the MacBook Air might be the best computer to buy for most people but the MacBook Pro has the better specs… so it has the title of better laptop… this doesn’t means you should buy it…

For example a Bugatti could be the best car… it doesn’t mean you should buy it…

Matt talks performed disk speed tests on a 256 gb version, while it’s pretty fast, not as fast as the 512 version. Without the teardown it won’t be known for sure if they have 1 of 2 chips. Go watch his YouTube (
) and decide for yourself if it makes sense to upgrade to 512 or just be happy with 256
