This. So simple, a small tweak, should have had this ability from its introduction a few years ago. Classic example is when one is at work... for 5 days of the week! Completely agree with you...

e.g set Do not Disturb on for only between 8 am and 5pm i only wanna be bothered after work...... I like it.

Does anyone know if the new Files app can connect to any online source other than iCloud? For example, can it connect to a home Mac or a home NAS via WebDAV?

Anyone else like to see a VPN on/off toggle on the new Control Centre? Even if it only toggled a default VPN...

Hmm so pretty much nothing interesting in the latest ios.

Literally 0 features i want or will use.

As long as "Memories" etc. can be easily ignored/turned off (they drive me nuts on Facebook) I'm happy.

Have they put back grouping notifications by app?? Just saw the messing of lock screen/Notification..

It's not going to happen. You want multi sign in, buy multi iPads. Not being mean, just honest.
But this already worksop school iPads? There is nothing stopping Apple allowing it for all.

We will spend £1000 on a top end iPad Pro in our house as a portable computer and media device, we don't want to buy one each!

That is £0 spend vs £1000 spend. :(

Apple wants everyone in the family to have their own iPad.

But that just isn't cost practical. :(So rather than spend SOME money on an iPad we as a family spend NO money instead :(

You are wrong. This isn't 1999 anymore. Apple releases Public Betas now which as the name suggests, opens the door for newbies who want to get their hands on the software before launch. So with that in mind and the launch of the Public Beta at the end of the month, I am asking a very reasonable question. Is it stable?

I gave some very helpful advice on this forum last year with regards to stability and I had no serious issues (such as files deleting). So if anyone is actually using iOS 11 and doesn't have a lecture for me, please could you share your feedback on your experience with me?

Thanks.

Yeah, I suppose everyone will be jumping to help you after telling someone else who was trying to help you that they gave you a lecture. Sorry I wasted my time on you.

So this is completely random... but if you force touch the Apple Watch home screen, you can view your apps via a grid or list.

I mean... how often would someone REALLY be doing that... Seems like a rather silly "feature" to waste resource on.
Anytime someone walks past an ATT router or an XFinity router, for example. I have an XFinity router in my apartment building that my phone connects to before my home wifi quite often.

Or more in the sense of being able to set priority for WiFi networks so that these kinds of public networks could be set to be of lower priority compared to some other known network that someone wants to use when it's available.

Why do Dropbox and other cloud storages need to be "make" compatible with Files? Is Apple doing the proprietary protocol crap again?

I can use any file manager in Android to connect to cloud storages as well as window network drives without the need to be make compatible.

I'm making assumptions about implementation by Apple. I don't expect at all that Dropbox and Box (and others) will need to change their protocols. They may need an extension to connect their app into Files. They just need to provide a hook into their existing app/protocol.

Anyone else noticed this in messages?

Actually, I'm hoping that frameworks used to connect cloud services into Files (and system) would allow you to likewise do that for a USB Flash drive so that Files (and other apps through system) would be able to browse flash disks. If Apple wants the iPad to fill the role of a laptop/desktop, it really needs to add this and files seems like the opportunity. Having lived in Africa for a year where network support can be highly variable, this could open the iPad more considerably to a number of other markets (as well as use cases in more affluent nations). I believe Cook has expressed that he's not worried about the iPad cannibalizing Mac sales -- even that they don't really consider this in design/release. If that's true, this seems like a necessary feature. Unfortunately, I haven't seen this discussed much at all on the web, yet.
Unfortunatly I haven't found much either. I know adding the files to iCloud Drive will accomplish the same thing but I don't always have my PC with me.

It's fine, I'll download the developer version myself and help others understand the stability and I'll do it without lecturing them.

Here's a real world example. Where I work we have a big overarching WiFi network. It's serviceable but pretty slow, especially when there is an event going on and a lot of people are on it. I also have a more powerful WiFi network in my office, however it has very little reach outside of it. If I leave my office to go to basically anywhere else in the building, it will switch to the broader, slower network when I leave but won't switch to the faster network when I return. I can't 'forget' the slower network, as the other places in the building I spend time in get poor or no cell service. It would be fantastic if I could just swipe up, force press, tap to switch networks instead of going in to settings every time I return to my office.
Have you tried setting wifi network priority on your Mac, which syncs it over iCloud onto your iPhone? I don't have this issue and hence haven't tried it. But it might be worth a try for your problem
