Game is a big disappointment to me. Ok to mess around with but don't see myself paying as it's too basic.

To each their own, but I strongly recommend trying to get all of the Pink + Purple + Black coins in the first level if you haven't already. The challenge of that has me hooked. If you play straight through the level to the flag it's pretty bland. It's a much more complex and rewarding game when you're timing tricky jumps, using walls and double-jumps to go left just enough for that box out of reach that you're sure has the coin you need. I haven't even tried the Toad Rally stuff yet and I know this game will be a work-break time sink for me.

I've only played the demo and it's actually pretty fun already.

Does anyone know if they discussed adding additional levels to it eventually? Or is that just a dream?

I found the game boring as heck right after the demo. The only difference between this version and the "classic" Mario series games is that Mario Run in on an iOS device. Not only will I not pay $10 for the full version, but I deleted the app. Which is too bad, as I was really looking forward to this game after seeing the Apple demo this fall.

the black ones are pretty hard. i got the all the pink and purple ones for the first 2 levels.

I thought the game was quite disappointing. I was also shocked at the poor quality of the opening sequences where it made me choose which country I was in. Not only is it silly to ask that when they have geolocation API's like ipinfo.io available but also I downloaded it from the UK store where again they could check what store is available to my account and finally the window to choose the country has no search field and scrolling it makes all these noises and clicks as you scroll like really Nintendo? This is really poor.

The game itself .. I didn't find it fun. Not being able to control Mario completely like on 20 year old consoles just made it feel bland and like I was watching a video of someone playing Mario. I also don't like that you need to be online all the time to play or how many menus and things there was for what should be a very simple game.

And before someone replies, yes I know it's called Super Mario Run and the whole point is to only be able to control his jumping. I am saying the whole concept is meh.

For me, not great and I really do love Mario and the other Mario games.

I enjoyed reading your comment. I agree with you! I was really looking forward to the release of this game, mostly because my wife has been patiently waiting to play it. At first it wouldn't even open, crashing every time I tried to open it... apparently they've included jailbreak detection in the software, but a quick Google search led me to install tsProtector 8+ from Cydia, I blacklisted the app, and I was up and RUNning! The game is not exciting what so ever. I got through the free levels in a matter of minutes. Prompted to pay $9.99 to simply finish the world was a bit rude; I already knew there was a price to pay to unlock all the levels, but dang, $10!? I certainly wasn't impressed with the free levels, so I really don't have an urge to pay and unlock the rest. O'well, all that HYPE FOR NOTHING! I love Nintendo and Mario but this is just a disappointment!

Funny how this article makes no mention of the always online BS. Sorry Nintendo, I can see right through you and your greed. I know the poor way you treat your fans. (Amiibos and artificial price hikes anyone?) And I know your embarassing and pathetic piracy paranoia. Hence why buying (and transferring... lol) digital games on a 3DS is a complete and sorry mess.

You released the Wii U and then stabbed everyone who bought it and supported you in the back cutting production and killing support before the release of the Switch, AKA what the Wii U should've been. You grip on tightly to dumb gimmicks, and you just recently confirmed (Miyamoto at least) that you think of your games only as products to be sold, not as something special or artistic that goes beyond it's price tag. You also think of you fans as idiots and want to charge them for games they already own every time they upgrade their systems, instead of, you know, tying purchases to their accounts like Apple does, letting them play them on any future system. (You used to be good with backwards compatability, what happened?) Oh and you charge full ptice for remasters of old games, when no one else does. Charming. Oh and you kill you franchises like Metroid, and now Zelda, using it as a *****, with Breath of the Wild a clear indication of you desperation, ganeplay elements that make no sense, throwing anything at the wall to see what sticks.

At this point you are just a whiny, spoilt brat who is in desperate need of a humbling, dare I say, even more so that Apple.

if you're just doing the levels without any of the challenges or the toad rally to compete with others i would see how you find it boring and easy and could finish each level in a minute or 2.

The game has actually some variety, and some challenge after the paywall.

But with only 6 worlds, seems a bit short and it's too easy.

Already beaten the game

You have not "beaten" it... you've only just started. Start trying to collect the pink/purple/grey coins...

Just getting through the levels is not hard. Perfecting the movement is challenging and rewarding.

Not too mention collecting toads in toad rally to allow you to buy stuff in the kingdom.

It was pretty disappointing for me. It was just not mario. It felt like a mario clone over a generic runner. If you want mario game play check out super cat tales.

As a diehard Nintendo gamer who owns several Nintendo consoles and has played the latest Mario games, this game is not like a classic Mario game and is to be expected.

The way a classic Mario game works does not work well with a touchscreen. Would you rather have onscreen buttons and have a terrible experience instead? One where the buttons obstruct the view of the game and are sometimes unresponsive?

The touch concept is pretty unique, and although basic, it is actually quite robust. You can do a bunch of cool things with Mario by precisely timing your taps. It's an "easy to learn but hard to master" concept.

The music and quality of the game are just as I expected of a Nintendo game. Pretty great all throughout.

As for content, there's not a lot of variety of level designs and I wish there was more. But hopefully future updates include more content.

Finally, I am ecstatic for Nintendo choosing this "pay once and play" financing choice over a freemium one, as persistent in-app purchases are a nightmare.

Overall, pretty good and pretty pleased.

8/10

Not really, they put that music in there on purpose. So I mean...
