I like it :). It's fun and easy enough for anyone to play, but like others have said, it can be challenging if you're trying to go for the high scores. I haven't played all the levels yet, but it does seem a little short.

Nintendo and iOS are a good match. Hopefully we'll see a Mario Kart game in the App Store someday.

With a feature at the keynote, 4 months of hyping, a [NOTIFY] button in the appstore for months, and all 6 of the 6 banners at the top of the appstore it would amaze me if it just reached $2.

Exactly! this is the big point!
They made that HUGE ad campaign, busting everyone's balls, everyday, making us waiting a lot of time, just for a stupid childish app that is nothing compared to the genius inside an app like, for instance, Clash Royale who was put in the app store in a very silent way, with just a normal banner the day it was released. I believe that Mr Miyamoto should stop celebrating himself and try to be a little more humble.

Of course, this is just my opinion, but at least I see that the guys who doesn't agree with me they say that "Super Mario Run" it's just "OK", they don't say "IT'S SPECTACULAR"!

I thought the game was quite disappointing. I was also shocked at the poor quality of the opening sequences where it made me choose which country I was in. Not only is it silly to ask that when they have geolocation API's like ipinfo.io available but also I downloaded it from the UK store where again they could check what store is available to my account and finally the window to choose the country has no search field and scrolling it makes all these noises and clicks as you scroll like really Nintendo? This is really poor.

The game itself .. I didn't find it fun. Not being able to control Mario completely like on 20 year old consoles just made it feel bland and like I was watching a video of someone playing Mario. I also don't like that you need to be online all the time to play or how many menus and things there was for what should be a very simple game.

And before someone replies, yes I know it's called Super Mario Run and the whole point is to only be able to control his jumping. I am saying the whole concept is meh.

For me, not great and I really do love Mario and the other Mario games.

Your impressions are the same as mine. I love the Mario Brothers franchise because like many I grew up with it. If it is $1.99 I would consider it. If you could control Mario I would pay the ten bucks. Just controlling jumping seems a bit mundane to me.

I don't normally play games often and have usually regretted the games I have paid good money for. That being said give me the original Super Mario brothers. You put some of that old school, 1UP, turtle bumping goodness, fireballs, you can have ten bucks from me.

I think many of us when we were young beat the original game and still stuck a quarter in the machine to play it over and over again anyway. I need something that has a little bit more replay-ability to it. I would also love to see Doctor Mario so I had a Bejewelled replacement.

Having to have an internet connection is also simply a no go. Playing games on my phone is the stuff bring airplane rides are made of. Even if purgatory installed wifi this doesn't make sense to me.

I like it, now I want bullfrog to re-release the original theme park and not that EA crap on IOS for $10 and I'll be super happy :)

With the hype going on,, i can wait till it becomes non-paywall and no internet connection..

Non Paywall?

You're crazy.

Nintendo charges what they do not just because of the content, but because of the value of the brand and the IP. When you have the maybe the most iconic character in gaming with 35+ years history behind it, you have to carefully manage that so as not to let it devalue.

You'd happily pay $10 for original Super Mario Bros??

Well good news. The NES Classic Edition costs just $60. It has original Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3. And Dr. Mario. And 26 other classic games. It's played through HDMI on your TV with a controller and no internet connection required whatsoever!!!

Exactly what you're asking for.

corrected it for your. I cant wait to play it on android. I honestly thought a temple run spin off, but Nintendo really didn't disappoint. Still own a 1990 game boy, and works like a charm.
finger crossed they will port the classics to smartphones.

It really worries me when people say paying $9.99 for a game is extortionate. I paid more than that for a bottle of diet coke and a packet of crisps this morning! Yet you refuse to pay that for months or years of game development?! Ok..... How do you expect the gaming industry (or even the app industry come to that) to move forward if you can't pay decent developers to make good software. I'd much rather pay a $9.99 upfront cost rather than have ads dropped all over me at every opportunity.

That's all good and fine but I was talking about my phone. I would pay for a good time killer on my phone. Maybe read a little closer before informing me of things I know already? Or are you suggesting I hook up my TV and take on the airplane or subway?

Requiring an internet connection to play is a big no-no considering one goes in the tube several times and there's no connection down there

Dunno man.

You only mentioned phone in the last couple of sentences of that post. Before that you were talking old school arcades and playing the franchise when you were younger.

And for other posters complaining about the $10 price...You do all realise that you're on an Apple forum?? You're on a forum that actively and passionately talks about Apple products. Products that are generally (but not always) priced in the higher echelon of the tech world?? Does it sound odd about me complaining about the price of a $10 premium game to play on my $800 iPhone 7 (Jet Black)??

It never occurred to you we are discussing a game available on the iPhone?

Super Mario Run is not a freemium game and does require the $9.99 investment to play the full game
It's not freemium but you have to pay for the full game? eh?
No. The game itself is free, but the extras needs to be paid.
Like in a themepark where the entrance is free and the extras are the attractions. Sitting on the benches and feeding the ducks is for free though.

So

it runs for me
it jumps for me (I have to do big jumps and multi jumps)
it has to always be connected
it costs £6.99
it isn't very good

It's a no from me

What MR is trying to say is "It's not free, so therefore you have to pay". Or in other words, "if it was not free you'd have to not...not pay".

Liked the game initially, but very limited play and then told you need to purchase Worlds 1-6 for £7.99. And there's not that many levels. I don't think so Nintendo/Apple. Now deleted from my iPhone.
