The button features don't solve a problem except for finding your phone if its lost. In general, if you have smart home devices then your lights should automatically turn on when it senses you are home and etc.

CR2032 batteries are dangerous and an environmental hazard. As usual, poor design form Samsung.

Far, far too bulky and utilitarian looking. Dimensions are 39.12 x 39.12 x 9.1mm

If you want people to stick it on their keyring at least try to make it tactile and possibly even exciting to have attached. This will add underwhelming bulk to a pocket. It frustrates me when designers are just so lazy and unimaginative like this.

My Tile Pro's have a nice metal edging and I can still get away with sticking one in my wallet - no chance of doing that with the Samsung one, it is 40% thicker.

As long as it looks good... does it matter what it does?

I don't understand the point of locator tags. I can see a small number of people finding them helpful for keys and wallet, but even that would be a small number of people. So who would use these and what would they use them for? Unless the locator device is literally a thumbnail-size sticker that costs less than 10 bucks, i can't see many people using locator tags much at all, regardless of what brand they are.

Why is beating Apple to launch this is an accomplishment. I don't even think Apple will come with their own. It is such a niche product that I don't think it will sell the volumes Apple would need to bother doing something similar or better.

Keys, wallet, even umbrella. Tile is able to warn you if you left an item behind (it went out if range) which is an useful feature.

Especially when you can have smart warnings - ie I don't get my umbrella warnings if I leave it at home, but I do if I leave it anywhere else.

Tile is decent, but due to iOS limitations (lack of antenna access when the app is not running) I have high hopes about an "integrated" Apple solution. Preferably one with wireless charging, to get rid of batteries.

I don’t think consumers care about as much as price with these, I think the big thing is do they find an actually use for them? I think we need to give these a chance and see how they do in the long run. For some, I think a product like this makes sense if you’re somebody that definitely is complacent, for others, this will be a very niche category.

or always leave your keys in the exact same spot when you get home so you never lose them
I have recently learned that. Only took me 40 years.

I have a tile and used to use it multiple times a day.

If I would have had a get to work and home routine I would have saved so much time over the years and eliminated so much frustration with family and friends.

I still lose things but it generally when my I walk into an "emergency" when I get home. About once a week.

So, I am still interested in replacing my tile.

Beating Apple to the proverbial tech punch doesn't really mean anything with this product.

May 31, 2012 that's the release date of Samsung's first NFC tracker. The one in this article is their 3rd. Later this year the UWB version is released.

Everything isn't about beating Apple--the fact is apple fans are very ignorant about what's on the market
