The one thing that bugs me about Apple Music on any device is that "Play" buttons don't always reflect the play mode. Some initiate play, but don't change their icon to a Pause button. That is disconcerting and feels like a usability oversight.

They mentioned online, the annual holiday software update is available for all users, but there is a small catch:
Note: A Premium Connectivity subscription is required to stream Apple Music over a cellular connection. You see that if you click on the Apple Music portion of this twitter post. (upper left)
One more reason why I would much prefer to just use CarPlay and use my phones unlimited data plan for streaming. Perhaps that is another reason why Tesla refuses to enable CarPlay?

With the addition of Apple Music, the benefits of CarPlay in a Tesla shrink immensely. And I have wireless CarPlay on our other vehicle, a BMW X3. So I know all the pros and cons.

The one big downside is the 'dual operating system' situation, that I know from experience confuses many drivers. Having two ways to make phone calls, navigate, etc. can lead to a clunky experience.

Never leaving the Tesla UI is the only guaranteed way for best UX. The phone/text integration is on par with CarPlay. Navigation is arguably better. Now we have Apple Music. I guess if you're really dependent on Audible or some other CarPlay-enabled 3rd party app?

The experience works as you might expect, and the full Apple Music service is available. The navigation experience is superior compared to Spotify, such as options for tapping into songs from a playlist to get to the entire album along with better interface interactions.
One of the most frustrating things for me is that when playing a playlist, a particular song playing will allow me to tap the album that song came from so I can see the other songs (and play them) if desired. The problem I have is that most of the time, when I do that, I get nothing. The display says "updating" or something but the target album songs do not show.

If this is the feature the Tesla article describes, I wonder if it actually works?

Does it include Memories feature?

Is it just me or isn’t anyone horrified at how small the fonts and icons are on the Tesla screen? It’s mad enough having to take your eye off the road to select something, but the touch point size is absolutely crazy. Is that not causing accidents?

why on earth would you put a normal tablet in like that? It seems like madness.

I finally got the Holiday update today. Was most excited about Apple Music, since my S refresh had a lot of the other added features already. I hope Apple Music gets better with future updates and lets you download your music directly to the car like Tidal does, which would eliminate the small buffering between songs.

For some reason, on my playlists that include full albums, the album art is not consistent. So, the original album art may be correct for 10 out of the 12 songs, but then two other songs have totally different album art. Makes no sense, why it would not preserve the original album art.

Also - annoying how the album art is not showing up under Favorite/Recents for the album or song. It does for Tidal. Good first start and I hope Tesla keeps improving it and does not just let it be like a lot of other stuff they have.

I really wish the Holiday Update made Favorites/Recents better. This should really be presents like every other car has and the user should be able to arrange them. I have recents in the list that I listened to 6 or more months ago. That should not be a recent. Also - make the Album Art larger. It is way too small.

I assume you don't know any 20-something's who are a popular You-tuber and know how much $$$ they make doing videos? It's crazy (let's say well into 6 figures).
I'm not doubting those people exist, I'm just saying they're uncommon.

I wish the AM app also included podcasts as the Spotify app. Its convent to open one app and have all your audio media available.

The behavior you're describing is what typically happens when you have your own ripped music in your iTunes Library. For some reason, iCloud Music Library likes to ignore metadata for music you ripped yourself, even if it has embedded (correct) artwork.

Got moved to the FSD track right when this got announced so no Apple Music for me for now. Is it possible to download music? If not does it at least precache songs?

With both Tidal and Spotify I eventually ran into connectivity issues where songs would play for a little bit and then just skip until it could start loading again.

I guess after this I’d want Audible and a better podcast ecosystem than TuneIn.

Keep watching this link for 2022.44.25.5 https://www.teslafi.com/firmware

It was "1" car earlier today, now up to 82 cars. When you see it start to get to several hundred, you can expect an update soon.

Did Dan just lament not having lossless audio in a car? I challenge anyone to perceive lossless audio in a car, lol.

Regardless, I’m loving AM in my Model 3. CarPlay next, Elon. You can even tweet about it if there are any subscribers left by then.
I can perceive lossless audio in a noisy car with a crappy stereo. Too much going on in a song and you will start to notice cymbals that sound like they're in a tunnel. If all you're listening to is pop or quiet classical music, you'll probably never notice. But 32 guitars layered on top of each other with massive drums will definitely push the limits of compression.

Thanks, but I thought I had purchased all this in Apple Music, before it became a subscription service. Is there a way to fix this, like delete the current and then re-add it?

The best way to fix is to delete, then only re-add from Apple Music, not from Purchased library.

Uncommon to you. Common to me, and probably others. It depends what you do, where you live, who you're around. Your life experience certainly isn't the same as everybody else.

Let's be real. The number of <20 year old YouTubers that pull in $100K from YouTube income can't be more than 1,000 unless you have stats that show otherwise.

I don't know any YouTubers of any age who make money from it. But I know plenty of people in their early to mid 20s making well over 100k and who drive nice cars, including many Teslas (mostly Dual Motor Model 3s).

i haven't had a chance to try this yet. does anyone know if the apple music account can be tied to the driver profile? its bad when my wife and kids mess up my listening history.

I said it was uncommon for younger people to be making $100K from YouTube. I have no opinion on how many >20 somethings make good money, in general.
