Follow-up: sitting my car now, a playlist that is composed of iTunes Match, ripped CD’s, and Apple Music is playing ‘some’ Matched/ripped songs. oddly, one song but not the other track from a ripped CD (see photo): plays Like a Prayer but not (greyed out) Shiny Disco Balls.

tl:dr: GLITCHY 🤔 but still better than when I bought the car 😬

I said it was uncommon for younger people to be making $100K from YouTube. I have no opinion on how many >20 somethings make good money, in general.
Your original comment/question to which I was referring was:

“I assume you're relatively young? How do young people afford a Tesla Model 3?”

Someone else suggested YouTubers. I’m merely pointing out depending on who you are and what you do, it’s not uncommon for young people to make a lot of money and therefore afford Teslas.

I'll say it again .... Tesla just gave you (Tesla owners) a new capability that was not previously in your Tesla, that was never part of the sale or purchase of your Tesla, and that you got for free. We Tesla owners just got a new capability - for free. All this whining about the rough edges is amazing to me.

What this seems like to me:
Adult: "Hey kid, here's a new free toy ball."
Child: "I hate it because it's orange instead of red. I'm going to tell all my friends what an a--hole you are for not giving me a red ball."

I guess I'm just too naive and innately positive for the internet. I'm grateful to get every new capability that was never promised and that never requires payment. I've had my Tesla for nearly 7 years, and it has gotten better every year thanks to free over-the-air upgrades. For free! I'm thrilled with Apple Music in the Tesla for exactly what it is. I hope the warts get worked out, but even if they don't, it's a decent implementation and gives me new capability.

Ok everyone, no critiquing allowed. Only positive comments. Don’t talk about anything not working or what you like or don’t like. Remember this was free! Also remember there are no other paid music services available for Tesla so discussing in a forum which service might be better for you is just wrong.

it doesn't support browsing the playlists of people you follow (my wife's Korean playlists are on her account not mine). But it was enough to reactivate the connectivity subscription on my Tesla. Now, please, bring CarPlay next.

Obviously premium connectivity is needed for cellular. If you want to stream for “free” you can connect your car to your phones hotspot.

Tesla charges less for data than most cell carriers fyi.
But there's no granularity ie. seems like Tesla's data cost would be the likely reason Apple Music's sound quality is restricted.

Looks nice. Now if we can get CarPlay support.
i'd say - carplay sux, have it on my bmw x3, what drives me crazy is when i'm parked and trying to check navigation routes in waze on my iPhone and i CAN'T SEE THE MAP, just text directions, drives me crazy that i have to go to settings -> general -> carplay -> disable, just to see the map on my phone, maybe it would be ok if map on iDrive would be as responsive as on my phone, but it's not even close to experience on iPhone...

oh and messages on car play - why can't i see the message itself, i'm lithuanian and when "siri" reads them its like listening to birds, won't be able to understand anything... at least make it readable when car is parked, i don't understand how can it be more dangerous then reading texts on my phone while driving, as if i can't just take my phone and read them...

The point is you don't play with your phone....

While you’re struggling with glitchy menus and janky fake full self driving promises I’m playing the mix tape my GF made for me and everything ‘just works’. Don’t even have to look at a screen.

Except then kids get in the car and have weird ideas…

Love the styling of the Polestar 2, how do you like it?
LOVE IT. Easily the best car I’ve ever owned . TBH— android automotive is so much better than CarPlay in this car though that a never use it, despite being fully engrained in apples ecosystem. My only complaint is Apple Music.

The best way to fix is to delete, then only re-add from Apple Music, not from Purchased library.
Ok - thank you. It will remain in purchased library too - right? So, I just delete from my playlist and then re-add the album back to Apple Music? Really appreciate the help.

My album art is showing up. Even my custom photo for playlists are showing up.
Does it show up in the Favorites/Recent part though? That is where mine is missing in Apple Music. It shows up when I go into Apple Music under the song or album.

Anyone else on the FSD beta waiting for this? It seems people who have the beta have a different download schedule. Would be great if they added Podcasts.

Yeah it will remain in purchased. Those never go anywhere unless you hide them. Even then, you can unhide.

When you re-add make sure you’re doing it from an Apple Music search. Not dragging/adding from your Purchased category.

I am sure that this is all Tim could get out of stingy, egotistical Elon, but the only correct way is to add CarPlay. Then you get all of it. Of course that is exactly what Elon does not want. For there customers to understand what Apple can provide, unlike what they do. Sorry guys but Tesla has some of the worst drivers services in the industry. And unlike every other car manufacturer, they insist that they are the only one who can decide how you use your car. No thank you Tesla.

Do you have a Tesla and understand how the sat nav system is tightly integrated into the car and your energy capacity?

Do you think Apple Maps can route you to a Supercharger giving you a readout of how much energy you have left and how much you will have when you get there?

I think people who bash on a lack of CarPlay don't really understand how Teslas work.

Overall, I like the update. I only wish Tesla Apple Music would auto-start the recently played song / album. The option to hit "play" is greyed out so I have to go to the recently played section and choose that song (or find something new to play).

I've wondered about this. Apparently there's an API that an EV's iPhone app can use to provide such information to Apple Maps. https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-up-electric-vehicle-routing-iphc5e3a4b4b/ios

Would it be as good as the routing my Tesla's built-in nav gives? I don't know, it would depend on the details that the app provides to Maps, and Maps' interpretation of that data. I haven't heard *anything* about Maps' EV support since it debuted.

You haven't heard about Project Highland?
Your optimism is admirable, but there will never be an "affordable" Tesla. The $35K Model 3 was killed three months after introduction. Battery prices have also increased in 2022, rather than decreasing to less than $100/kWh as predicted. So the "affordable" Tesla will likely be over $40k, if it's ever announced (and if Elon ever finds someone to take over Twitter).
