I'm in a different camp - I couldn't care less about most of the health features, I just want a (much) longer battery life. That didn't really happen either, so I too will wait another year.I have an S5. Was going to really consider this but would like some of the additional rumored health sensors in it as well. Will wait another year.
on a stainless steel series 4 and told myself I wouldn't upgrade without there being A> a major redesign or B>4 years pass. Looks like next year I'll take another look as this update seems a little lacklustre. Like most, I was really hoping for that flat edge redesign that was teased!
We don’t get you, either😉Yeah, it’s the best feeling skipping through a few generations and then getting all the features in between them. I don’t get people upgrading every year just to have the newest thing and only getting a couple of new features. I’m on a Series 4 and probably updating next year if there’s a redesign or new sensors.
2 reasons. Battery life and illumination of any kind in the dark. I often turn theater mode on anyway, but even days where I don’t, the screen almost never fails to turn on.Weird, I have a series 4 and therefore haven't upgraded in a few years, but the key thing that almost gets me to do it everyday year has been the always-on display. Not sure why you'd want to turn that off.
How so? I really like the always on display on my Series 6, battery life is still excellent.
This morning. I purchased mine right after they opened, no pre-order. I was second in line, my friend 3rd, and there were maybe 20 people in the line, total.Didn’t pre-order, would love to know when can expect to actually hit the shelves.
fair enough, my AW4 for the first 1.5 years only needed charging every other day, and currently, with watchOS 8 I'm somewhere at 45-50% at the end of the day ... nevertheless, Apple never claimed > 18hrsReal world tests seem to indicate better battery life in the always on display models... if you turn off the always on display.
I have a Series 6 and have turned this off. Why do I need the display on if I'm not looking at it? I get better battery life this way too.Weird, I have a series 4 and therefore haven't upgraded in a few years, but the key thing that almost gets me to do it everyday year has been the always-on display. That shows you how far from objective they are.Maybe I’m the only one, but I am a little tired of hearing reviewers say there is no compelling reason to upgrade to a Series 7. The larger display is really nice to me and so is the increased durability. But according to many of these reviewers that doesn’t t qualify as a good reason to buy a new Apple Watch.
The green is very dark in person and under normal lighting. That green looks so lit but I have a s6
I have a 4. Always On Display seems (having not used it) as a nice to have, not essential. Could be wrong but ignorance is bliss (saves money at least). I generally don’t have a problem the watch face coming on. For me, the most important features are screen size and battery life. The 7 is interesting because of a larger screen and faster charging. I would be fine without a blood glucose monitor but I’d be upset if I went with the 7 and the 8 got a large battery life increase, as I’d want to get a SS or T model for the sapphire glass and wouldn’t want to update for 3-4 cycles.I never understand series 4 people who aren't upgrading yet. The always on display from series 5 was by far the biggest apple watch update ever
I’m on the fence with a 4. Also want longer battery life, but faster charging helps a bit and for all we know it’s 18 hours through series 9 or 10. I’d imagine for the 8 they’ll have a processor speed boost and a new health feature, which makes big battery gains for the 8 unlikely. My preference is 48 hours so you could fast charge for a whole day of use in minutes, and not have to worry if you’ll be away from a power source for awhile. Also would help keep the battery in the 30-80% sweet spot.I'm in a different camp - I couldn't care less about most of the health features, I just want a (much) longer battery life. This comment makes zero sense. Please elaborate why, and also why you would have to turn it off the “MOMENT” you got it? You’re coming from a series 4 so AoD is a key upgrade feature. I can’t figure out any downside. You’re not gaining any noticeable battery life by having it off, so what else is could it be? Genuinely curious.I have a 4. The first thing I would do is turn off the always on the MOMENT I got it. Sorry.
I upgraded from 6 to 7. I have wanted a bigger display for awhile now but my wrist too small for the larger Apple Watch. This series 7 display on the smaller watch should work great for me. It's not a huge change, but it's a sufficient change. I also really want the Starlight color. It's what I always wished silver would be, a bit warmer. Knowing Apple, this might be the only year they offer this color, so I'm going for it.Maybe I’m the only one, but I am a little tired of hearing reviewers say there is no compelling reason to upgrade to a Series 7. It (along with raise to wake off) saves about 30% battery (on average) is why. For people who need as much battery as they can get during the day because they don't know when they will be able to charge, it can be a big deal. This comment makes zero sense. Coming from a series 4, I am curious to know how much more responsive it is. From what I can glean from YouTube videos, not very. Bootup times seem almost identical.
