Some of the features specifically require 13.2. I don’t have a list handy, they can function as normal bluetooth earbuds, but a different thread suggested being able to go from noise canceling to off etc requires 13.2

This isn't true. I am on 12.4 and have full sound functionality since you can change the mode via the stem. The only missing elements so far are the connection animation, ability to change sound mode in control center, and ear tip seal test. Everything else including hey siri works properly on 12.4.

Not sure when I'll pick up a set. My original Airpods are working fine still. Maybe once Comply Foam comes out with replacement foam tips. I'm not a fan of silicone tips on earbuds usually.

I really like them... features-wise and sound-wise, they’re objectively better than my Series 2 AirPods. Comfort-wise, though... a different story. I must be one of the few who never had an issue with the fit of traditional EarPods or AirPods (I have small ears, evidently), but these new AirPods Pro have a larger bud - the hard plastic part - that strains my ear after 10-15 minutes of wear. Shame. I’ll be keeping them, as the ANC works surprisingly well. But they won’t be my casual, around the house earbuds - I’ll stick with the traditional AirPods. These will probably be my main travel/airport headphones... with my Bose doing the heavy lifting during actual flights.

Mine are still “out for delivery” but I’m anxious to see how they stack up against my QC 35 II’s. I‘m not expecting Airpods pro to be better in terms of noise cancellation, but at the very least they will be a lot more convenient for every day use.

We for years have tried to make sure we have Apples Airpods either wired or wireless because of the was they went into the ear canal. We hate mushroom earphones, so I am afraid this will be a no go in our family

I think you can do a shortcut in the Shortcuts app for that

actually a friend said that function did work when he tried, so I gave it another go and it worked. Maybe Siri misunderstood me... wouldn’t be the first time

Apple is going to lose money on these. Big time.
Main reason being the little buggers stick in my ears and won’t come out unless I pull them out. There are probably going to be farrrrr fewer Pod replacement purchases from Pods falling out of people’s ears with the Pros.

What I want form Apple is:
wired Airpods Pro (lightning jack will power the ANC) version and
audio pass-thru on the AppleTV remote.
So, by use of the already existing AppleTV remote, you can use you're Wired Airpods Pro wirelessly across any device (current finnicky remote would need a lock switch thru). Gives you options.

They will fare well in a StarBucks or mall versus the Bose. The 3 sound modes work exactly as they should.

ANCkills most background Noise, ANC-OFFlets background through, and Transparency “amplifies” background sound.

There’s a little less “pressure” when no music is playing on the AirPods.

I can tell already my QC 35s are still going to be my airplane go to headphones. Even just by way of battery life.

For the size and connectivity, the AirPod Pros are definitely a game changer.

Just got the AirPod Pro, in white, so far these are the only pair of noice cancelling headphones that I can wear. Sony and Bose both give me headaches from the noise cancelling effect. I do find the original AirPod to be more comfortable, time will tell on that.

You sound like an XBox One oriented consumer.

Gotta say the sound quality is improved but also lackluster.

Compared to my Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless earbuds. Those things are sonic gold and priced at exactly the same price point.
Apples and oranges comparison isn’t it? Sennheiser’s don’t have Active Noise Cancellation which is a key feature of the AirPod Pros. Among other things.

If you ONLY care about SQ, then the AirPods probably aren’t the right choice.

Ok, I just picked them up and tried at home. They’re going back. The sound quality is very underwhelming. I have a pair of Bose Soundsport and the SQ is not even comparable between the two.
I never liked the flat sound of the Beats or Apple headphones. I thought maybe since they came up with NC this time, they improved their SQ as well. Unfortunately, it’s not the case. I think design wise they’re cute and light. They fit in my ears comfortably as well. For those who can tell the difference between well-balanced decent sounding headphones and flat sounding headphones, these headphones are not recommended.
Considering that many better sounding headphones are even cheaper than these, it’s quite underwhelming. These headphones are mostly for people who care about comfort and style. There is definitely nothing “pro” about them when it comes to sound.

I received mine this morning. The pairing is much better than the original AirPods (hmm) which have been super cranky with iOS 13. Honestly, these are over priced. The "noise cancelling" capability is barely noticeable. It hasn't been responding to "taps" to enable/disable "noise cancelling" mode, but there are controls under the iOS bluetooth settings. They do fit well, however. I'll keep them, but don't expect any meaningful "noise cancelling" -- I'm sticking with my bulky Sony headphones for that. Yes, I understand there is a difference in compute and features and size, but I don't appreciate the selling of a feature that really isn't much of a feature.
It doesn't use taps. It uses a pressure switch on the stem so you do a squeezing gesture and hold.

To be clear, AirPods 2 had no ANC at all
Yeah, that was me misspeaking. Airpods 2 definitely had no ANC and at the same time was horrible for flights; one had to put the volume to 60%+ to even hear over the roar and that automatically made them fatiguing.

If Airpods Pro has at least moderate ANC (able to drown out the ambient plane noise) then I'd consider it a win, cause I just like packing super light. Bose cans do rule, but aren't easy to stow. It's always tradeoffs.

I like the design and the technology but I would love to see they are a bit more repairable

What exactly would you "repair" here? Heck, not too many 3rd parties would repair anything here

I’ve been using them for an hour, and I love them. I’m coming from first gen AirPods where the battery has degraded.

I own $2-300 headphones that sound better than AirPod Pros. But the AirPods were my most listened to headphones because of the convenience of always being in my pocket, and the auto connect H1 chip. Plain and simple, the best headphones are the ones you have on you. If you have special ones for plane rides or special ones for music mixing, then you care more about headphones than average consumers and by all means people can own several headphones. I think these will be a hit for most people.

So with the inclusion of active noise canceling and quick charge (5 min in the case = 1 hour listening time) was an instant buy for me. I still like my other headphones, but these will still be my daily go-to, most used. Very happy with the purchase.

Those that bought, hope you all enjoy yours too! I bought the $29 Apple care+ in case my battery degrades again in under 2 years. Hope it’s an easy and cheap way to replace and give these life again, if necessary. I tend to like getting Apple care for “gen 1” products from Apple just in case.

Isn't it a bit of a sham that anyone has to pay for AppleCare+ "in case the battery degrades in under 2 years"?

Why are we not all more critical of Apple for not covering that situation as part of the premium purchase price they charge?

Never had to return an apple product before, and I'm a really pro user.

Hahaha. Cracked me up.
And... I'm a "pro" user depending on your definition, but I've had to return Apple items in the past.

I'll get mine later today so looking forward to trying them out.

But if they work as good as almost everybody is saying, then I'll use them for flights as I hate carrying around that bulky carrying case for over the ear ANC cans. Less crap I have to carry on a plane the better.

I do agree with you, and kind of annoyed at myself for being glad that “it’s only $29”... I’ve taken advantage of this battery policy on an iPhone 6S I believe, when the battery dipped below 80% on their tests. But it would be nice if this wasn’t a thing to think about.
