It’s odd to me that it sorts by event time. At first I thought it was a good idea since I line to know what is on now to watch, but then seeing the sports all jumbled together was disturbing. I’m not a fan of the dark interface with only the times in white and at the center of the display.

In short, it makes my eyes hurt.

Thank goodness for the ESPN app.

100% Agree.

Furthermore... Was it really important to develop this app now? They seem to have problems addressing bugs in other apps, many of which are still only available on iOS/iPadOS with no support for Apple Watch or macOS.

I don't understand.

Guys think strategically! Apple is probably preparing to buy one of the Sports streaming networks if it is allowed! When you have as much money as Apple does you can think and move in Multiple dimensions!

Extremely mediocre compared to the ESPN app. I was just checking NBA stats, and you can't easily look up schedules, scores from before yesterday, and so much more. Maybe it will be good in about 10 years

Apple learned an important lesson with the original HomePod - if you release the most cutting-edge features at once, there is no clear upgrade path. Apple has applied that lesson across all their products, even when it seems a bit out of place. Now they can tout "ALL NEW" with each release.

Between this and Journal, what's up with Apple not releasing iPad versions of their apps lately? If a multi-trillion dollar company can't do it, how can they expect anyone else to properly support their platforms?

Really! I spent over $1000 on a tablet and they are too mean to port over a simple calculator? I think they have more money than me so I don’t get your cheap shot!
The reverse can be said here as well. You spent over $1k on a tablet. Don’t nickle and dime over supporting an independent developer

Apple's apps never contemplate other relevant countries. That's why google is better at this.

Apple is going to start in America first! I mean 224,000,000 people just watched the Super Bowl and Apple sponsored the Half Time show! I even watched the Super Bowl on AppleTV+, Apple streamed it!

This is….weird. The criticisms have all been made in the thread so I won’t repeat them. But I’ll ask of Apple: why bother?
You know, as I look over all these replies, I'm saying the same thing myself now

If there's already ESPN, Fox Sports, CBS Sports, etc, and all the other leagues' own apps, what made Apple think that they needed to make their own too? (especially if they release it in such a half-baked state with not being able to do notifications and all like the afformentioned apps). I mean, they already have support for setting your favorite teams within the Apple TV app, so maybe this is the beginning of them pushing that stuff out of the ATV app into its own app?

Yes, I get it that from Eddie Cue himself he said that they designed it to be "simple" but if their definition of simple is to leave out things that are no-brainers like your own Dynamic Island support, pertinent notifications related to your favorite teams/leagues, and even Watch support then I don't know what is

Until I hear about them adding such things, Sports Alerts is what I'll be using for now, which has all of that and then some

I have the perfect answer for you but you are not going to like it! This is eventually for the Apple Vision Pro! Think Different!

What is the point of this? Take cricket, for example. If it covers it at all (which I doubt) it's never going to rival many free apps that provide full coverage and stats etc.
