I agree - the constant use of F-bombs feels like they were deliberately (and clumsily) inserted in just the make the show seem edgier than it really is. But I like the premise of the show overall thus far. The dialogue is tight, the stars are watchable, and it's basically a show about office politics.I liked See but the Morning Show is too much shouting and I don’t care at all for the constant use of the f word.
As someone not from the US and not living in the US, I wonder how marketable Apple's content is internationally. For me, a lot of friends and family have Netflix. Me personally, I have nothing. No Netflix, no cable. I don't watch TV at all. I watch the odd movie. I'm busy with life, making money, etc. I just don't have time. I believe in my country Netflix is mandated to show a certain percentage of content that is from my country.
When I have downtime, I'm playing sports or will read and do research. So buying eBooks is something I do once in a while. But Apple TV+ just isn't for me. If there was good content, it may convince me to at least trial it for a month, but things like The Morning Show is so US-centric culturally. I look at content like this as mindless nonsense and have zero interest in wasting a second of my life watching fiction trash. I know I can't be alone. But I wonder how much of a minoirty I'm in? Or majority? Or something in between?
Any Americans want to chime in... do any of you just cringe at things like The Morning Show? Do you have little time for this stuff as well... that you don't really watch TV or TV shows... and that you have zero interest in Apple TV+?
I absolutely fell in love with The Morning Show too. Reese Witherspoon's character is obviously not the most likable right out of the gate, but she grew on me as I kept watching. Alex and Mitch (Aniston and Carell) are extremely magnetic and fun to watch - I started cracking up when he attacked his TV.The Morning Shaw is actually the surprise gem for me. I wasn't expecting much from it at all. In fact it was the show I was least interested in prior to launch. But it turns out it's excellent. Or certainly the premiere is, at least.
I didn't notice the swearing at all. Huh. It's the way all my co-workers talk, so I'm guess I'm used to it? It just came off as very genuine and not gratuitous at all to me.I agree - the constant use of F-bombs feels like they were deliberately (and clumsily) inserted in just the make the show seem edgier than it really is. Maybe because I live in Asia, so the show still comes off as pretty fresh and novel to me? The men in the show do seem basically useless - don't know if it was deliberate?
Well, as a teacher in a primary school, swearing is practically non-existent in my working environment. 😋I didn't notice the swearing at all. Huh. It's the way all my co-workers talk, so I'm guess I'm used to it? It just came off as very genuine and not gratuitous at all to me.
I didn't think a show about the news would capture my interest...
“The European Parliament has voted in favor of a new quota for content on streaming services. Services, such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, will have to make sure that at least 30 percent of their catalogs in Europe come from European countries.”As someone not from the US and not living in the US, I wonder how marketable Apple's content is internationally. The small selection is not the problem. Creating TV that is compulsive viewing is.
I've watched the first episode of each of See, The Morning Show & For All Mankind and I can honestly say I don't care if I ever see any of it again.
TV Shows really need to hook an audience on the first episode and ideally in the first 30 mins - none of these do that. They don't even suggest that there is better to come.
Apple have created a bunch of shows that nobody was asking for on a TV service that no-one needed because they know that services are where the money is now.
Apple TV+ is Hot Garbage. Even if this was free forever, I wouldn't bother with it.
I know there will be many on here that will enjoy these lame TV offerings but in this day and age, people are highly discerning due to there being just so much quality content elsewhere - they won't waste time on these offerings.
I know fan boys will jump on this and try and defend it but this is a company with untold money and resources that have failed miserably at the starting gate.
I agree. I still have Netflix (for now) but their really great show, House of Cards, has run its course. About the only original content they have now that I like is Patriot Act. I bought an annual subscription to Curiosity Stream ($20 / year for access to thousands of documentaries) and since I am getting a year free of Apple TV+ for buying an iPhone 11 Pro and I am getting a year free of Disney+ for being a Verizon customer, I will likely drop Netflix later this month.Quality vs quantity.
I can’t seem to find anything worth watching on Netflix these days. None of their original content is resonating with me, and even their back catalogue is quite lacking (partly because I don’t live in the US). Just binged Kengan Ashura yesterday and that’s pretty much it.
Watched the first two episodes of Newsroom and it looks pretty promising. I am loving the dialogue and the interaction between the characters. Though I do have a 1 year free trial, so I guess it’s a moot point as to whether I am willing to pay for it or not.
More hype than substance for AppleTV+.
You may “miss Steve” but FYI Jobs is the one who dropped Computer from Apple’s name.Yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.........Change the name back to Apple Computers! Not Inc.!! Stop telling us what to do, what to think, what to watch, stop lending us money, stop giving us credit, ....just STOP! Give us insanely great tools that are easy to use, and let US do our thing!! How I miss Steve..........

I am going to watch The Morning Show as soon as Apple has published the entire season. I dont really care about what critics say. They praise shows like The Big Bang Theory which seriously has never ever even made me smile. Let alone laugh.
But what surprises me is that Apple TV+ only has their own 11 or 12 shows and nothing else. I thought TV+ would also have more content but maybe that will happen in the future.
