Hands-On With the New iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini

Wow, I am truly impressed with the video image stabilisation on the Max.
Surely there must be a way for Apple to add these features to the smaller phones.

Got my iPhone Mini today - Taking me a little time to get use to it as moving from iPhone X and the similar sized iPhones before...So been a while since had this size of phone.

Overall quick and nice to have a small phone - just weird as not use to it being so small. I am one that prefers the rounded corners of the iPhone X, etc...but that's me. Going to give it some time and see if ok living with it. I would say if I had a larger phone (Max or iPhone 11) may be harder than moving from an "X" since moving down from a 5.8, not a 6.1" or larger.

Anyone else may like it but seems a little weird to get use to?
I have the X as well and if I were to update, I was thinking of the Mini. The X is as larger (maybe larger) than I want to go. I can just barely use it one handed. I have been unable to find a direct comparison between the X and Mini, so thanks for any other feedback you can give.

Got my 12 Pro Max yesterday, and while it’s gorgeous and the size is definitely a change for me, the camera seems sub par, and I’m really disappointed as this was the reason I opted for this phone! Portrait shots were blurry in lower light, especially with the front camera. WTF Apple? They were going on and on about the jump in quality, and my 11 Pro was so much better! I really hope this is something software related that I can fix, cuz this is unacceptable!

I got the Pro Max on the first day and that’s the beginning of a nightmare. Everything is good in terms of hardware for this phone, but Apple’s servers were F-ed and iCloud restore allegedly would take 12 hours to complete. I opted for direct transfer instead, it said my Apple Watch would automatically be transferred to the new phone, but apparently it didn’t and needed a full restore.

After that, some apps just wouldn’t install. Adding cards to Apple Pay is another headache. Each card took 10 minutes to set up due to server issues.

This is the biggest issue I’ve had from Apple’s servers in many years. I thought I accidentally bought a random Android phone. Some heads should be rolling.

Anyone else having an issue with wireless charging on the Pro Max? I have an Apple silicone case on mine, and it won’t charge on my bedside wireless charging pad, or the one in my car.

I think it’s two different issues preventing it.

The magnet and the thickness of the camera.

Anyone else? Anyone have another theory as to what the problem is?

I went from a X to the mini and LOVE it. I do have smaller hands and always found the X to be a tad too large to comfortably use, even with Reachability turned on. I do feel a difference when typing with both hands (my thumbs touch more) but I’m not making the same typos I was on the X, so that’s gotta count for something. :) overall I am very much happy with the choice to go mini. I’ve never owned any of the Max sized phones but have held them in store or when using a friend’s phone and never felt the Max was an option for me.

Screen looks better on the old one. Two reasons

1) the sky is blue instead of purple
2) square edges
The white point is actually very blue on the Plus in comparison. The Max is much truer in the lighting I’m in. I have True Tone on of course. Pictures don’t do it justice.

I got my iPhone 12 Pro Max today! Gold in color. 256GB storage as spending $1500 to go up to $512GB too much money!

I got $700 off by trading in my iPhone 8 Plus 256GB space gray. THANK YOU ATT! could never get $700 selling it outright.

I got the max cause I'm totally into shooting Video and still pictures. So having the best Camera is important to me

PS. nice family you have. nice kids. thanks for sharing with us!
Whats ATT?

You all are killing me! My 512GB Blue Max was supposed to be here yesterday but I received the dreaded “missed at the destination” from UPS. Called and was informed it was not on the truck. So now have to wait until Monday.

256GB silver 12 Pro Max here. Coming from an 11, I notice the size of the display less than I notice the dramatic difference in colour. TrueTone is running a little warmer on this, and I don’t mind it. Gonna find reasons to go photograph nature this weekend, see how it holds up as a camera - the main reason I wanted it.

Both hubby and I have 12 Pro Max coming from 11 iPhone because we both wanted bigger phones and we are really loving these phones so much! Love the square edges easier to hold!

No theories, but with my 12 Pro Max in a UAG case:

--My Mophie wireless charger (single disk) works great.
--My Mophie 3 in 1 wireless charger works great.
--My Belkin Boost 2 in 1 by my bed (Apple store exclusive) does not work. Belkin is sending me a newer version.

Confirms for me how much I like Mophie products.

I noticed this as well. My 12 Pro Max has much more natural whites. My 8+ display--which I thought was so great--now looks terrible in comparison.

Mines in a case, so it's not the thickness of the camera. Mine charges fine on my two Mophie products but the Belkin charger does not work.

Really dig the mini. Just got mine yesterday. To those worried about the notch - really doesn’t bother me at all. I do wish the mini was even smaller, as it’s not quite small enough for me to comfortable one hand grab the control center without shifting my hand position. But it’s a LOT more comfortable than the X.

Got my 12 Pro Max Graphite today. First impressions are... it’s massive. Almost like a mini iPad. The huge screen is great for video and web browsing, but there is a lot of wasted space in iOS. Hopefully they will fix that with a future update. It seems a lot bigger than my old 8 Plus, even though the actual device is only a fraction bigger. Also, it is a little on the heavy side, but aside from that I’m pretty impressed.

I wanted to be able to make the Pro Max work, but the lack of USB-C, fingerprint reader, and hideous notch (with sadly disfunctional faceid) just don't work for me and it will go back. Great camera though!

So far, I like my mini. It's the first time I've used FaceID and I'm really impressed with how quick and easy it is. I didn't think I'd like it more than TouchID, but I do. Wearing a mask is definitely a problem, though. For me, the mini is the perfect size I've been wanting; it fits perfectly in my shirt pocket, it's easy to hold. And it's remarkably light. The screen to me seems dimmer than my iPhone 8 and it doesn't have as wide a viewing angle as the 8 either. But I think this will be a great device that will last me for a number of years.
Thanks for being honest! Your comment worth more than 50 YT videos. I will go for the SE 2020.

I can understand the notch back when I bought my iPhone X.

But now it just looks stupid, especially on the big one.
I don't mind it as much as I thought I would. But IMO, Apple should have blackened out the screen on each side of it, to make a consistent bezel across the top. The little notches on either side are wasted space anyway, so just have the screen black on either side and have the time and status symbols in white. The functionality would still be there but the aesthetics would improve a lot.
