I know it’s just a rumor but I read this article today about leaks to the next iPhone 13 will have the X60 5G modem in next years iPhone but will be a big jump over the X 55 5G modem in this yrs and test run show the batteries in the 12 iPhone will be inferior due to the X55 modem. But will improve next yr and Touch ID will appear next yr along with the smaller notch.

Next year will always be better.

Picked up my 12 Pro today from the Apple Store. Pretty seamless, no line to speak of. Took it home and activated it.

Wow, what a difference 4 years makes! Coming from an iPhone 7 Plus, the difference is... quite noticeable. Perfect size though, I have a feeling the Max would have been way too big for me. I love love LOVE the flat sides again! Takes me right back to the 5S. Feels great to hold. Missed this.

Also, I used to be adamant about having Touch ID. Not anymore. Screw it. After a few hours, Face ID is faster and more convenient. That could also be the benefit of having 4 years worth of revision time.

One issue I did encounter was during the number port process, the screen hung. As I had no idea what to do, I called Apple support. They had me power down (volume up, volume down, hold power button; didn’t know how to on these new models lol). Anyway, it worked. Actually had to power it down again during later in the process too, so if you find yourself in a similar position, do that. Afterward, everything happened without a hitch.

Loving my iPhone 12 Pro. :)

5g is no faster in the uk, camera is slightly better nothing great, MagSafe is a gimmick the new display is nice and shape but with a case looks like any other phone and bezels look bigger cos they are flat, nothing I’m finding anything better than 11 pro, with a case it feels the same, faceID is the same; speakers and mic the same, speed is same, video Dolby vision is worse than the 11, also night mode selfie camera is horrible, I’m disappointed

Received my 12 Pro today. Transferring data and settings from my X wirelessly was dead simple and pretty slick. Also... FaceID is loads faster than my X. Can't wait to start making photos with it. Really nice phone!
How long did the data transfer take?

How long did the data transfer take?

For me it was about an hour, with 139 GB of data (most of that photos) out of 256 GB. Don't know how that would compare to a restore from a backup via iTunes.

Are ya dumb about MagSafe? The whole point is that the cable would detach from the device so it won’t fall and break. That was the point of it on the MacBooks

Was able to order the pro...picking it up tomorrow. Coming from the xs max. Consider a little with the size but seeing how good the rest of the specs are despite a little hit on the battery I'm looking forward to the upgrade. I also have the note 20 ultra and go back and forth if these real large phones are needed. I don't take a lot of night photos so can't justify the pro max right now. Hope I don't have that buyer's remorse eek!

SIM ejector tool need to remove next time, because basically most of users already have that. That's good for environmental because of less metal used for making those. /s
But one can use a simple paper clip.
Apple will simply go full eSIM only. Setting aside carrier support, eSIM actually will make things better, as carriers won’t need to make gazillions of those plastic SIM cards.

Cool!!
Let us know how it works with a mask on (which most of the country is still wearing) and probably will be for another year. A co-worker told me face ID doesn't work for him with his mask on. That's a bummer to have to input your passcode each time. My 6s always works with Touch ID instantly.

Scheduled to pick up an iPhone 12 Pro tomorrow. Coming from an iPhone 8 so should be a big upgrade for me. :) Hope FaceID is really better than TouchID.

What is that “sensor” looking area on the power button side of the phone?

my initial impression so far, I’m a little underwhelmed tbh. I’m getting faster speeds switching to LTE only and although it’s a beautiful phone I don’t feel like its all that much different from my iPhone 11 Pro.

Well, to be fair it wasn't really aimed at 11 owners, though Apple surely doesn't mind the sales, they say themselves that the typical user keeps their phone for ~3 years. There have been an even bigger bulk building up of people keeping their phones for 3-4 years now and Apple probably hope to snag a lot of those wth a redesign and 5G.
