As with a very other red case it will start to luck dirty from material dye staining within a month. I had a red leather case and within six months its with venous blood red with black rims- I wear a lot of dark trousers.

This is not a valid argument at all. I could make the opposing argument Why donate or contribute to any product or charity that represents something else for the cause. The Product Red iPhone stands for something, and those who choose to actually understand the meaning behind it, support the cause for reasons as such. This specifc phone is available through a company that supports the actual cause versus a “Relying on someone to purchase a secondhand phone and donate yourself. “

I understand the cause I just think its not charity, you’re buying a new phone and pretending it’s a charitable experience which it isn’t.
You can apply it to whatever you want and I would say the same. I’m wearing a product red watch band now, it wasn’t a charitable purchase I just wanted a red watch band.
It’s facebook activism, people like to feel like they’re doing something without doing anything.

Seems You don’t understand the cause. No one is pretending when a portion of the proceeds are contributed towards to the Global fund. Rather somebody chooses to acknowledge what the proceeds are intended for, is an entirely different reason. Your argument was someone else could purchase a secondhand phone and donate yourself, which how many consumers are actually willing to do that at all? Not many and The intent is to purchase a new phone, not a used phone. The consumer can purchase the Product Red iPhone supporting the cause that will donate the proceeds directly, which Apple has a lengthy history of supporting thousands cause for reasons already stated.

Apple early this week introduced new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models, which officially launched today. As of this morning, the new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone devices are available for purchase in Apple retail stores, and the first (PRODUCT)RED orders have been delivered to customers.

We got our hands on one of the new candy Apple-colored devices to check out how the new bright red shade looks with a glass body, and, as is no surprise, it's gorgeous.

Apple in 2017 introduced (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models, but those devices paired an aluminum shell with a white front plate. 2018's (PRODUCT)RED options are arguably more attractive with a glossy red glass backplate, a red aluminum shell, and a black faceplate for the first time.

The red and black combo is undeniably attractive, and the iPhone 8's glass body looks fantastic with such a bright red shade. Other than the new color, though, the (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are identical to existing iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models introduced back in September.

Apple's (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are priced the same as other iPhone 8 models, with Apple charging $699 for the 64GB iPhone 8, $849 for the 256GB iPhone 8, $799 for the 64GB iPhone 8 Plus, and $949 for the 256GB iPhone 8 Plus.

Ahead of the unveiling of the 2018 (PRODUCT)RED devices, there were rumors suggesting Apple might also debut a (PRODUCT)RED iPhone X, but no red iPhone X materialized. Instead, Apple introduced a new (PRODUCT)RED Leather Folio for the iPhone X, which is nice looking but somewhat of a disappointment compared to the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Given how nice a bright, colorful red shade looks when paired with a glass body, we're hoping Apple plans to expand to other colors in the iPhone lineup in the future. What do you think of the new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and 8 Plus? Let us know in the comments.

I get it. Really, I do.
Now, it is all about a fashion statement.
And, I can hear from your posts: "Yeah! I wanna, pretty please with sugar on top."

But, sorry, to sound as a party pooper. "Color me ... indifferent."

If it was that significant you could buy a second hand perfectly good phone and donate the difference to charity yourself.
Sure, all non-charity luxury expenses can be looked at that way, but if you were already contemplating getting a new phone, having part of the purchase go to charity is still better than having it all go to Apple's bank account, provided that you actually like the color.

Moving up from a 7+ to this. SIM free. Figure it will be the last Touch ID new phone.

ANNNND I do not like the notch.

My biggest problem with the 10 is Face ID. When it works, it’s great. But when it doesn’t (I’d say 20% if the time) it’s annoying. I’m also thinking this will be the last iPhone with a front facing button. This would be my first ever mid cycle refresh, but I’m still thinking I’ll do it.

The color of the iPhone isn’t as significant to some, but the actual meaning behind Product Red is and what it stands for, and What it contributes too.

You’re the first person to talk about the meaning that I have read on any product red stuff.

I'm speaking about the fact of making a huge deal about it since it introduces nothing but another colour choice.

Blame this one on the MR summary: "Product (Red)" products include a donation to AIDS charities and are something that Apple have been participating in since forever. Without that little snippet it does indeed seem like a ridiculous amount of hooplah for a new colour.

(Of course, an excuse to boost mid-life sales of a product is good news for Apple's bottom line, too - but, hey, enlightened self-interest and all that... they could just have gone for a limited edition 'all profits go to Apple' version).

Why does Apple wait to release specialty variants well after original product release?

I doubt 99.99% of the people who will purchase this colour give a damm about the AIDS donation. You can see by the public’s reaction, “so amazing”, “shiny” etc...

It’s their backup plan in case the sales turn bad ;)

the red is way darker/muted than the reviews make it seem, i was expecting to need sunglasses after being blown away but that wasnt the case which was sort of a downer

also the red aluminum band is just kinda hokey imo
