I can't speak for the OP, but I think you misunderstood. I would love to see the computers app go away... but that doesn't mean I don't want to stream locally. The issue is IMO that there doesn't need to be an artificial and ultimately confusing segregation between content based on the SOURCE rather than the type. If I've got movies on my Mac, they should just show up in the list of movies. Why make us go to one app for Internet-based streaming content and a different app for Locally-hosted content?

That would be nice, I doubt Apple will ever give it to us; they want us to go to iTunes...All my loca stuff is now on an external plugged into my AE and I use Infuse. Used Plex for a while, but Infuse does it all for me. + iTunes Match for music.

I'm sorry, that'd be terrible. Do you enjoy typing with the AppleTV remote? o_O

I think that the solution is voice ID. The next Siri remote needs to have higher fidelity microphones to be able to identify who's asking. An alternative is Touch ID built into the remote but that starts to get very expensive for a remote that's already $75.
Even better.

Although, a 4 digits passcode is still better than nothing.

It's good to see they spending effort in tvOS but still a long way to go.
User profiles and controllers are good, just took them 4 years.
Amongst others things, I would like an option to manually download/install updates, currently its off or auto.
And the remote needs to redone.

I wish they would revert to the old way Movie and TV Show posters were shown, vertical and squared. The new horizontal posters look terrible!. The old way allowed to quickly determine if it was a Movie or a TV Show

Totally agreed: I think the new posters are terrible.

Yes I know. Im saying all your iTunes Home Sharing content should be put into the TV and Music app, respectively. Instead of how it is now, the Computers.app.

It done correctly on iOS.

Is Home Sharing even a thing any more under Catalina? I can't find any setting to enable it on the new TV app (on Catalina) and when I try connecting with the Computers app on ATV it can't find my library.

Also, why does the Computers.app still exist. All the Movie and TV Shows should go right into the 'Library' tab of the TV.app.
Same for Music with the Music.app.

Oh gosh yes, the TV App is such a mess, it feels like they are rushing through the iTunes catalogue to create the landscape artwork and it's so scrappy, maybe my TV isn't big enough but I can't read many of those tiles, it really pales comparing it with Netflix, which have many issues with their movie artwork, but at least they are legible.

The scrappiness goes on the rest of the UI, movie logos aren't visible on the full screen artwork or trailers, and at the least on my Apple TV HD it's so slow, it feels like I'm using a beta, really not impressed with this one.

I don't often look at iTunes, but the Apple TV App now makes it look so fresh and refined.

Not clear what you mean.
Do you mean to update the ATV OS itself?
Under Settings / System / Software updates there are 3 options:
Update Software
Automatically Update
Get Beta Updates

Yes it is. It is somewhere in the “Sharing” section of macOS System Preferences.app. I’m not running the beta, but this what I’ve read.

Yes you are exactly right. The new design template makes it hard to even read what it is, and most of the new horizontal artwork doesn’t even have the name of the program on it! I wonder if Apple is using some sort of AI to automatically make the new posters.

I don't think they are, because some the new bad artwork have the Apple TV parallax effect, so I would assume someone actually devoted some time to make them..

Does multi user allow for each device to have their own view in the Home app? It always annoyed me that it didn't because it makes the favorites useless since almost every light in my house is in the favorites. For example, there's no reason i need to have my son's bedroom lights in my favorite devices, but If I don't put them there then he wont have them either and there's obviously a reason for him to have them in his favorite devices.

At the end of the day every light in my house is in my favorite devices because that's the only way I can get it to show in control center for the people who that light is relevant to.

Apple in June unveiled new versions of iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, but the TV update, tvOS 13, hasn't received much coverage, so we thought we'd go hands-on with the software so MacRumors readers know what to expect when tvOS 13 launches this fall.

tvOS updates are always more minor in scale than other software updates, but tvOS 13 brings a decent number of new features worth checking out.

After installing tvOS 13, the first thing that's noticeable is a new Home screen. The updated Home screen does away with the top menu bar and the Watch Now screen that used to be front and center, replacing it with icons that include Apple TV, the App Store, iTunes movies, iTunes TV shows, and Apple Music.

Watch Now is now only accessible within the TV app rather than being available right when you turn the Apple TV on. Instead of displaying Watch Now content, highlighting the TV app on the Home screen offers up a "What to Watch" interface with content recommendations.

Highlighting the App Store brings up app recommendations, and the same is true for Movies and TV shows. The Apple Music icon shows "Today's Video Hits" with autoplay silent video.

Apps are able to play full-screen video previews right on the Home screen, which is similar to how content autoplays in Netflix when you're browsing through available TV shows and Movies.

tvOS 13 brings a new Picture-in-Picture mode, designed to let you watch TV shows or movies while you're navigating through the rest of the tvOS 13 operating system. Controls at the bottom of the picture-in-picture interface allow for returning to full screen, pausing content, and closing the picture-in-picture window.

Multiple users are supported in tvOS 13, so more than one profile is available on the Apple TV. Each member of the family can sign into their own Apple TV profiles to get customized Watch Now lists, content recommendations, and Apple Music playlists. Switching between profiles can be done through the new Control Center. The Control Center includes the time and date, easy access to search, a Now Playing widget, AirPlay controls, a sleep feature, and an option to switch between users.

There's a new Apple Music feature that displays scrolling lyrics synced in time with the music that's playing, and Apple has added a new Wireless Audio Sync option that uses the iPhone's microphone to calibrate audio synced to Apple TV, such as through a speaker system.

tvOS 13 gets the Apple TV ready for Apple Arcade, Apple's upcoming subscription gaming service. As part of Apple Arcade preparations, Apple has added support for the Xbox Wireless Bluetooth Controller and the PlayStation DualShock 4 Controller, allowing gaming controllers many people already have at home to be used with App Store games.

There are also new screensavers in tvOS 13, which were created by the BBC Natural History Unit, aka the team behind the "Blue Planet" series. These new screensavers showcase the deep ocean around the world, showing off under-the-sea creatures and scenes. The new screensavers don't appear to be active in the beta, but will be available when tvOS 13 launches.

Right now, tvOS 13 is available to both developers and public beta testers, and Apple is planning to launch it in the fall after a few months of beta testing to work out bugs and refine features.

I just want to know when AppleTV is going to have the option to skip shows/movies intros like Netflix. Also, an auto-play for the next TV episode you're watching would be nice!

There also needs to be a feature to allow users to passcode protect certain apps like Photos. I like to have access to my photos on my AppleTV, but I also don't want my kids to be able to open up my photos when they are watching the AppleTV.
