Now *that's* what should be on Apple's front page right now!

In comparing both the original and current 1984 commercials. You can clearly see that the first digit on the time is a zero. That zero has a blank center and is wider that the digit on the date that everyone is claiming says 04. Even though I see a quick scene where it looks like it might be a zero, I still think it's just an eight.

It's the 26th...

It's the 26th, at 8:30 AM Central, and there is nothing. When does Apple usually update their site for these kinda of releases? If nothing is released I will be mad...

Apple Cupertino California = Pacific time zone USA.

If it's 8:30 AM Central US, then the lights are not yet ON in the lobby in California.

I would wait until after the 9:00 AM (Pacific Time Zone) Staff Meeting before I got my panties in a bind.

THanks

I too noticed that usually their site gets updated around 6am Pacific Time, which is 9am in New York, though they do it later sometimes.

But it's 7am already and nothing has happened, so I'm pretty convinced now there won't be anything. I mean, *especially* if it was something date-related, they would make extra sure to be on time, maybe even switch at midnight - but definitely at their normal 6am time, knowing how much of a perfectionist Jobs is.

Oh well, I could be wrong...

Maybe this time they have an event in Cupertino. But if not: Nothing new today

Party starts at 11:00 AM (Pacific Time) in the lunch room. Cake and sodas and bottled water.

Nothing is going to happen. If something does appear, Apple really did a good job keeping everything under the wraps and away from the rumors community.

What kind of party is it ?

1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino CA

Employees (and family members) only.

Cake and soda and bottled water.
... just like any other office party.

They've done it before, and they've had a chance to learn from past mistakes and become more efficient in preventing leaks.

Plus, remember the (IMO) unbelievable support from the piracy community when OS X was released, and it was extremely hard to find pirate copies of the OS X beta?

I think it would be easy for Jobs & Co. to convince the employees that this was something very special and keeping it "under wraps" would only make it more special for the 20th Anniversary.

Granted, nothing may appear, but it is far too early to tell yet.

Less than 1.5 hours until we all know...

OK. Sounds great. And what are you celebrating ?

And, isn't this a great community ? You can call them family and bring us all along !

... and if any info is released, that info will be released AFTER the Staff Meeting, not at the beginning of the Staff Meeting.

The Staff Meeting could run over an hour, it's Monday.

There will be the usual iSights on PowerBooks, so contact your "insider" for a feed from the Party.

What the hell are you talking about ? Is this a secret code ?

One thing about new hardware/software is that the online store has to go down while they update it and validate it.

This takes some time, its not instantaneous :D

Yes, you are right. But the store is not down.

My point was actually that if the store went down today, then you can start to get excited :D

I don't think they'd just do 'maintenance' today, during the middle of the day :p

So I'm guessing that when it does happen, there will be about 20 threads all screaming - The Apple Store Is Down!

D :D

Too many folks are turning blue, or hyperventilating rather than use common sense and experience.

Although today is the 20th anniversary of the Mac Ad, by calendar, the 20th anniversary of the first Mac Ad can be construed as the 20th Super Bowl since the first Ad.

The 20th Super Bowl since the first Mac Ad will be Sunday Feb 1.

I am also interested to see what might be new and improved, since there wasn't anything but iLife and iPods at the SF convention.

I would not expect to hear "Apple Store Is Down" screaming before lunch Pacific Time.
