My appreciation for the gold has gone up in the two days I've had this one, which is a good sign. Passing under the radar with a couple of dozen of my colleagues was also a good sign. Even under the most accurate light, it's very subdued, reddish. Under some of our office lighting it's almost silver, as I mentioned. The traditionalist in me still likes the idea of silver, but in real life the gold is really good looking.

I wanted gold to match my phone but once I saw the real world pics the space grey looked much nicer.

Love the gold! Im loving the black and gold combo. Silver was too basic, same color as every other Apple laptop and the SG was too dark for my liking, especially with black keys. A white keyboard on the SG would have looked awesome.

I agree with this, however, one thing to note is the lighting in apple stores suck. They make the gold look worse than it is. If you look at it in natural light, I think you might feel differently.

I owned a yellow one in the late 70's. German Ford Capri with a straight six and manual shifter.

OT, I know, but a friend in high school (class of 76) had one of those - what a great car. OTOH, I had a '67 Camaro with a transplanted Corvette LT1.

Possibly. I also didn't want to wait. But to be honest I don't need all my gadgets to match color. I like the darker grey on the Mac compared to the iPhone it's too grey.

I have the Space Grey and no regrets. The only other choice for me was Silver, as I really don't like gold (in general, even if Apple's take on it is better than most).

The thing that I like about the space gray is that people say that it is darker than what is on the iPhone.

(I think my iPhone's space gray isn't dark enough)

If I change my mind now and go with space gray (instead of the gold on order), I'll have to wait another two weeks! Ouch!

One thing I mostly like about gold is that it looks different in so many different situations. its kind of a non-inconspicuous chameleon and mostly looks appealing.

some flash blast:

What screen resolution are you using on you rMB?

My gold rMB passed a test today - I had a big meeting with a lot of people I've known for decades. If any group would feel free to give me $h!t about a gold computer, it would be this crowd. Not a peep. I should mention that under the office overhead lighting (CFLs and LEDs), the gold actually washes out a good bit and looks not very gold at all, almost silver-ish.

Did you get any positive comments or recognition of the unicorn tears status from the group either newellj?

love my SG! Went to a apple store after I got it from best buy and saw all the models, was expecting to like the gold based off pictures but was not that impressed. Both the SG and Gold are on the "lighter" side of the spectrum and I really enjoy the look of the SG.

Based in the UK so I have a looooong wait before I can even view on in store. Any chance of uploading some photos of those of you who ordered Silver?

I have ordered the base Space Grey model, but am now thinking of changing if it looks like a normal Dell etc.

For all of us (Cdn) who dont even have on display at store...fell free to snap some pic's and show us those colors!

Agreed.

If you can, please upload some real life pics of you Macbook in action. I'm still undecided between Gold and SG!

I'm happy with the silver. It's not so noticeable, and I expect it to show less scratching than the Space Gray. I never considered the gold, personally.

I expect to like my rMB...and I want it to be noticeable (if only by me).

I also just prefer the classic silver, although the scratch thing is a major reason that I didn't branch out and go gray. All of my silver Macs still pretty much look new. As for gold, I don't own a single thing in gold. I'm just not a fan of gold, in general.

Space Grey is gorgeous!
The only thing is, I wish the apple logo was a shiny mirror coat like on the silver model.

Sorta, I wish I could have gotten the silver sport with a black band, but I got the black body too. It reminds me of the iphone 5 in black.
If I had saved a few more bucks I would have gone SS black or that chromeish, but that's almost double for the 42mm.
