not saying paleck is unethical or anything, but you must truly understand that 90% of the world thinks in direct opposition to your way of thinking, has morals 180 degrees out of phase, and holds ethics completely contradictory to yours.

I don't think it was paleck who posted the spoiler. He just went back and edited his previous post to warn others that there were spoilers ahead.

I know what you mean, but with the world the way it is today, what did you expect? you start a harry potter thread... AN INVITATION FOR SPOILERS TO SPOIL!

in todays world, you have to expect the worst will happen.

that's just the way things are (and probably have always been)

Yeah, I totally agree with you. I just figured because of the heavy moderation, and the quality of the general community here at MR, that this would be different than, say, digg.com.

I was wrong. There's always someone.

The spoiler post was the post below mine that has since been removed. I did go back and add a spoiler warning to mine so that others reading the thread wouldn't see it....hopefully.

I disagree. I think what the spoiler poster did was unethical, annoying, and certainly the work of a total prick. However, in the grand scheme of things, there are far more important things to write a couple paragraphs ranting about than the ending of a book.

Yeah...my friend's husband works for UPS and a couple weeks ago it was announced that unless you have some seniority you are working Harry Potter Saturday. Not a direct quote mind you, just the gist of it. Luckily he has been there a while and doesn't have to work it. :D

Yeah, it's pretty frustrating knowing that my copy is sitting just a 20 minute drive away at the local UPS shipping center. I wonder if I could have went to pick it up since it's been sitting there since 10:30AM this morning. :p

Since we now have three Harry Potter threads here in Community Discussion, plus some assorted ones elsewhere, I'm going to close this one as the notion of predicting events in a book that's now been released seems a bit pointless.

If you've got your book or are just about to buy it, and want to tell us about it and your purchasing experience.

If you'd like to discuss the book and what's in it then this is the thread for you. Please read and follow the rules about spoilers in the first post, thanks.

Happy reading. :)
