If so what has your experience been like? I saw the XR in store and I didn't think it looked too bad. That being said, I'm not sure how comfortable I am going from an OLED display (s8) to the XR.

There might be subtle differences you might miss depending on how attentive you are to the details. You can buy the phone and have two weeks to return it. IMO, it depends if screen is your first must-have priority.

I think I’ve gone on and on about my choice to go from max to xr. Still have the max but keeping it for nostalgia sake. Love the xr. It’s comfortable to hold. I use it everyday. I don’t have to take the phone out of my pocket because it’s uncomfortable to sit in. Screen quality doesn’t seem noticeable though some here disagree. I would google the xr reviews and see what people say. Reviewers on YouTube seem to agree the screen isn’t a huge difference.

I went from a Note 4 to an iPhone 6 Plus then a 7 and tbh while I love OLED screens it’s by no means a factor that’s must be checked. A good LCD is fine. Now I did go back to Android with the Note 8 because I wanted OLED and then an iPhone X because of that but tbh at the end of the day you’ll get used to it. My issue with the Xr is more of resolution though

Err what? My co worker has a XR and you can clearly tell. Not enough to cry over it but yes. Colors aside the resolution is what you notice

I absolutely love the XR but there is a definite difference if you’re used to OLED. IMO the XR is the perfect size, I love the color options, but at the end of the day the screen doesn’t match up to the higher dollar models. I wish it did.

I notice it mostly when watching videos, the blacks being the main difference. The Max was killing my pockets at work and I wish the XS was the same size as the XR. There is no iPhone that is perfect for every person this cycle.

I went from XS max to 8 to XR, they are all good you just get used to what you have. I like the XR best if I want a bigger better screen I use my 11” iPad.

I went from XS to XR. Did not notice any difference for my use. Actually I find LCD screens easier on the eyes and more comfortable to use.

Personally I came from a Note 8 and I only notice a minor difference in some youtube videos. Other than that the Xr's screen looks great to me.

Just got back from Bell. I ended up getting the white XR 64GB.. honestly if anybody has any reservations like I did, do not worry. The colours are a lot better than I thought they'd look and I cannot see any pixels from normal viewing distance. It's nice to be back on iOS.

I have a Max and played around with the XR.
The main difference is the saturation of the colors. They just pop more on OLED and the true blacks stick out.

But that doesn’t mean the XR has a bad display. It’s perfectly fine. Apple should have at least put in a 1080p panel in in though.

...to you. And to a lot of other people. But accept that to some folks (such as the person you replied to) the difference is negligible.

Personally, I can see the difference - but only if I make an effort. I understand that I'm in the minority on this, at least on this forum.

There is a factual difference . If it’s important to you that’s different but you can clearly tell the difference between a screens resolution with the XS max 1200P + screen and a 720p+ screen that’s only a few centimeters difference.

If the XR had a 1080P screen I would of suggested it and maybe would of considered it if I needed to replace my X. At 720P I wouldn’t even consider it in 2019. My options would be a used X or just buy a XS

Re: the bolded - no, you can't make that generalization.

Sure, there is certainly a factual difference in specification. However, I'm saying that many people cannot perceive a difference. Just because you're able to easily distinguish between 1080p and 828p doesn't mean that everyone can. While it's a minority opinion, I've seen that statement repeated across this forum. Do you think bigjnyc is lying?

It’s not a generalization but factual. You can telll the difference between 1080p and 720 and this is 1220 to 720p

It’s not a generalization but factual.

No it's not. Do you honestly think every person in this world has identical vision? Of course not. While there is a difference, you can't say everyone can see it when clearly there are those who can't. Continuing to speak for everyone doesn't change this fact. We all get the difference on paper. But not every notices it in real life usage.

There is a factual difference if you care or not is your problem then. The fact they added a crappy resolution is why the XR is crap . In 2018 1080p is found on budget phones everywhere. The same should be with a phone that costs $750

I don’t see a difference. Maybe there is, but not in MY eyes. But of course you speak for everyone so you must be right.

There is a difference just go to a local Best Buy Apple store if etc. 720p is crap that shouldn’t be on any modern mobile phone period

Everyone is agreeing there is a factual difference. What we don't agree with is that everyone can notice the difference. That seems to be the point you're failing to grasp.

FYI, I'm not blind. Go back and point out where I said *I* have an XR and *I* can't tell the difference and earn yourself a cookie. Or don't bother because I never said any such thing.
