It's been quite some time since the posters have bought their monitors. How are they holding up? Are you still happy with your purchase?

Mine is still working great. I'll probably soon upgrade to the Apple Cinema Display. I'm buying a new macbook pro next month, and I want to keep the cable clutter down, and get the style of the laptop to match the monitor. Also, as much as i love the 2048 pixel wide display, i'd rather go back to the superior vertical resolution offered by 1920x1200.

All in all, GREAT monitor, though. GREAT resolution. GREAT deal!

I gather you would still recommend this monitor to someone who is looking for a secondary monitor under $275?

Sorry if I've missed this in the thread, but what is the best way to connect this monitor to a 2009 13" macbook pro with the MiniDisplay port? Should I buy the Mini - VGA from apple or the Mini- DVI? Or other?

You can get the adaptor...but it requires then that you buy another cable. I.E. you buy the Displayport-DVI adaptor and then you need to buy a DVI cable. You can also just buy a Displayport-DVI cable.

Pursuant to the Manual a White DVI Cable comes with the Display:

I don't own a SP2309W, as I bought the Dell 2209WA because of the E-IPS panel, but the DVI Cable came with my Display.

Oh yah i have the SP2309W and it came w/ a DVI display... I'm just saying that if you're going to buy the adaptor, might as well just buy a mini-displayport to dvi cable. I don't like the extra weight of the adaptor or just the idea of having another unnecessary connection, but either one will work just fine!

That does appear to be a better idea:

Mini DisplayPort Male to DVI Male 32AWG Cable - 6ft at Monoprice.

plus the cable should fit through the mStand hole as well!

Its a good thing there is a 3 year warranty i'll get to it eventually. I'm still having the same issue. About once a month. Its not a huge deal...and i'm kinda lazy lol.

looking for a sp2309w for 219

That is OF COURSE clutch! I have an mstand as well, but I have a DVI-based older MacBook Pro. To get around that limitation, I use a DVI-HDMI cable to power my SP2309W.... This way the HDMI portion fits through the hole!

I am looking for a monitor for my mac mini the one i had broke. I am interested in sp2309w for my mini however i don't see it less than 299. Can anyone help with a coupon or something that will bring the price down to 219.
thank you Rita

I have this monitor and while I can't say anything about it concerning my MacBook, on my Windows desktop it has been fantastic for me, and the wonky res seems fine :p

(Also use it on my PS3 and 360 through HDMI and VGA, both look brilliant)

Although I'm not sure if the 1920x1080 version of it would have been better, a more standard resolution.

hey, just read this entire thread!

first post on this site... wondering if minidisplay port --> dvi adapter limits ability to use full resolution of monitor when connecting to a new 2009 macbook 13"?

if so, any way to take advantage of full resolution?

does this require a dual link cable for maximum resolution? it seems like it doesn't since it says DVI-D (not dual link)... I get mine in the mail tomorrow and I want to make sure I don't need the cable... I already have the adapter.

got my sp2309w for the price i wanted

I cant wait to get the monitor to hook it up to my mac mini. My dell monitor broke and i have been using my TV it looks nice but i prefer sitting at a desk and having all my HD attached and dvd Dl attached. I hope it really doesnt take 2 weeks to get to me. After reading all your reviews on this monitor i had to get it.

Wondering if anyone of you could help me....

I have a two year old macbook (aluminum unibody) and am looking for a monitor....

would this monitor be compatible with my graphics card?

Is this monitor worth 299 or should i go with a 24.6 inch Samsung P2570HD at 299?

Dell 2309W - Great monitor

I purchased one of these monitors last year to use with my 13" MacBook Pro, connected with a MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter from Monoprice.

Let me tell you that this is the best monitor I've ever purchased, and for the price, I got my boss to buy me another for my second office. Watch Deals2Buy.com (all the way at the bottom) for good monitor deals, I got this monitor for $179 the first time and $189 the second.

ALSO, to all of those who have issues with the webcam, if you have VMWare Fusion, connect the "OmniVision Monitor Webcam" (which for some reason looks like a pair of headphones) to any VM, then disconnect it, and the webcam will work in any application in OS X! It's as easy as that, no need for restarting OS X. Installing iUSBCam did increase the performance of the webcam.

Hope this helps you all out!!

I plan to purchase the SP2309W for my Ubuntu box.
I have a 1GB nVidia GeForce 8600 card already connected to a 22".
Is it possible to add the SP2309W as a secondary monitor ? Where do I connect it to ? I think the graphics card has one DVI.
