I just got an email from Navy Fed. They're launching Apple Pay in November. Sweet.

----------

They will be in November. Did you get their email a few minutes ago?

Navy Fed, I mean.

:)

Awesome. I didn't get an email just yet, but good to know!

Not yet but that is great to hear. They are pretty big and I am happy to see them embrace it quicker than most. I will also say the NFCU app is the BEST banking app I have ever used. All it needs now is TouchID

Discover

Anyone know when Discover plans to be added? i heard they were in talks, but have not heard anything in a couple of weeks.

From reading up on apple pay, it seems like we dont even have to unlock the phone.

My question is, lets say I got several credit cards registered on passbook. When I want to pay for something without unlocking the phone, how do I select which credit card from apple pay I want to use?

Can someone who used the system already explain plz.

Thanks.

from a different mr thread.

If you don't actually go into the passbook app, then only the default card will be used from the lock screen. As of now, no way to choose unless you go into the app and select the card from passbook.

When you hold your phone up to the NFC terminal it comes up with all of your cards stacked. If you want to use the default card, just place finger on TouchID and go. If you want to use another one, just select it, then place finger on TouchID when prompted. Really quick, see my previous post before.

I added both my Chase Visa debit card and my Capital One MasterCard credit card with no issues. Both were ready to use with Apple Pay seconds after adding them. I used my iPhone to pay at Walgreen's with my Chase debit card. Screen was off and I held my phone to the NFC terminal and put my finger on the Touch ID sensor. Screen came to life, fingerprint symbol showed as scanning my fingerprint on Chase automatically. If I had taken my finger off I am pretty sure I could have switched cards from that screen and put my finger back on the sensor to continue. Card scanned in like a second, then the payment terminal continued on to ask for debit PIN and to confirm transaction. Pretty cool experience. No taking out my wallet, taking out my card, swiping it, and putting it back. But it's not just scan and leave.

from the lock screen, it didn't work this way for me, only my default card showed up

How much do you guys think is being made by people just going out and trying Apple Pay. LOL

I just went to Walgreens and bought a pack of gum. Surprisingly the cashier was already aware of people using their phones to pay. At first we couldn't figure out how to make it work but it turned out I had to use TouchID in the passbook app first before the terminal could scan it.

Why is that "sad"? Most people don't carry cash or change around.

My assumption it would be sad because they're making it more convenient to buy crappy unhealthy snacks and soda rather than be available at retailers and shops that are actually good for us... such as the grocery store where I can buy healthy food and prepare it for my family.

With my experience at the gas station earlier today, I used my credit card (not a debit card), and it was pretty much scan and leave. I did the same process, as soon as my finger print was scanned, the machine beeped and said processing, then approved. My receipt printed and was handed to me and I was on my way. Nothing else.

True, but people are going to buy it one or another. Since my office added the NFC scanner and credit card scanner to the "snack" machine about 2 weeks ago, it gets used waaaaaaay more. Good for the company stocking the machine, I suppose. $$$

Its personal choice what you decide to eat.
Technology should make life simple and convenient in general not make it harder to buy unhealthy items and easier to purchase healthy foods.

I think you missed the point of my post.

I hear ya. It's only a matter of time until everyone else catches up... the wait is painful though. I would rather be able to use this convenience as places I actually shop at for useful items.

Waiting for US Bank. All I could get for an answer out of them when I called was later this fall. Considering the holiday shopping season is getting near, I would imagine most of those 500 banks will be ready by black friday.

Is there any way I can get Apple Pay in the UK? any way of downloading the update and getting it in my iphone? There are loads of contactless payments in here and my bank is Barclays.... :c

I was wondering if it would have been like that if I used credit. I don't know though, at least in the case of Walgreen's. The terminal still asked me to confirm the transaction, so maybe we'll see different implementations from merchant to merchant.
