I added my Capital One card with no problem, and went to add my PNC card. I know that PNC isn't active on Apple Pay yet, but I figured I could save the card in Passbook and use it when it was ready on their end. As with most of you, Passbook refused to add it.

I actually updated to 8.1 on a layover on my flight today, so my first opportunity was a shop in the airport. They had a live NFC terminal that accepts Google Wallet, as you can see:

When I touched the iPhone to the terminal, it woke up and asked me for Touch ID. However, when I did it, I got the following message to hold the iPhone closer to the terminal (And it was laying on it! I tried it a few times):

I tried a Walgreens and it worked immediately, easy-peasy.

Do transactions still give you guys regular paper receipts for purchases (in case you need to submit a receipt for reimbursement)?

From the merchant's perspective, it appears to be the same as a normal credit card transaction. So, if you would have gotten one with a regular card, you'll get one with Apple Pay. I got one from Walgreens.

but you don't have to sign anything, correct?

Correct, worked just like the keynote video. Touched the phone to the terminal, hit TouchID, waited a sec for the receipt to print out, walked out the door. It took longer for the receipt to print and be handed to me than it did to pay.

Got some crappy coffee at Panera to try it out.

Worked quick. Lady looked at me like I was crazy. She didn't know it could do that lol

I tried to add my Bank of America debit card and its telling me to call in to verify and I did that but it's still saying activation required. Anyone have the same problem? I have already try removing and re adding the card

My local Sheetz gas station has contactless payments on the pumps. Tried using Apple Pay, my card showed up and used Touch ID to authorize. I got the clear there and the pump said it was Authorizing. It was then cancelled, had to use my physical card.

I don't if they don't have it ready or because I used a Visa card and the contactless terminal was for MC PayPass. I'm sure it will come around.

My bank of america debit went in fine without any additional verification.
My chase card went in also but required further verification.
Chase send me a 6 digit pin via text and then I entered it into the apple pay section and it verified and went through fine.
Certain banks might have additional verification required to enter the card into the apple pay system.

Sounds like the clerk working inside didn't know what was going on and he just canceled your pumps authorization.
Made you come inside cause he never saw that option before.

I've only added cards so much but the one card that wouldn't let me I don't even like anyways (I've been toying with closing it cause I don't think I need it to keep my credit good anyways anymore and that would be one less card I have to keep track of). Though I could swear Chase was one of the banks supposedly supporting it.

It may be they don't support that card. After all they begrudgingly kept me. It was a card that they inherited when they bought out my previous bank and from what I understand most customers they just closed the card on. With me they just made it a lot worse deal than it was before so soon as another card had a better deal for me I got that one and only keep this one cause it's my oldest card so just for the credit history.

Perhaps, but I just cancelled the order and swiped my card on the pump, no other issue.

Bad ideas.
Closing a card will negatively effect your credit.
You don't think you need to keep your credit good? Guess again.
You do and you should care about your credit if you care at all about your future.

Yes, I know this. I also know it's my oldest credit history. But it's from 2007 as well as my second oldest card which is only 6 months newer than it. My credit is really good and I don't think it will give that much of a hit on it (all my cards are in good standing with no late payments). I don't really like Chase, I don't like how they handled me after they took over my bank ( I get the strong impression they wanted my banks' customers to go away and just wanted the assetts from the bank. Everything they've done since they took over was to make things far worse under them,t hey already got me to go find another bank to put my checking account under).

They'll probably eventually close me anyways cause I never use it, even less than recommended if you don't want them closing the card on you (I'm amazed they haven't yet. I think I've used them once since I got the card I replaced them with, they were my "if they don't take amex" card but Bank of America had a much better card for me so now I use it instead).

So pissed USAA isn't working.

Don't be, it takes time for the issuing banks/credit unions to get their systems to work with tokenization
It'll up and running shortly...Navy Fed already said November. USAA should be ready for Apple Pay around the same time

Well that sucks since I only use a debit card.

So what? Is the extra two seconds to enter your pin (which you've always been doing for your debit card anyway) really going to make that big of a difference?

Further, you probably shouldn't be using your debit card that regularly anyway since if it were to be compromised, it's raw access to your bank account. Debit cards also often have fewer of the protections offered to credit cards and usually also don't have any rewards. Just use a credit card and pay it off each statement so you don't accrue interest.

This. I cannot remember the last time I used my debit card. Always use credit cards.

I went to Subway for lunch just to try it out. First time it didn't work, I got the error saying a reader wasn't close enough but the second time it worked right away.

My bank charges $1 when I pay as debit but no additional fees when used as a CC. I never use my PIN# anywhere but at the ATM.

But I also use my AMEX as much as possible but not all places take it, thus, the bank debit card that is swiped as a credit card.

I was wondering if it would have been like that if I used credit. I don't know though, at least in the case of Walgreen's. The terminal still asked me to confirm the transaction, so maybe we'll see different implementations from merchant to merchant.

Yeah it's going to depend on the terminals. I suspect a LOT of them will ask you to say "yes" or "no" to the question of if the price is correct. Other than that, pretty easy.
